I live in SE Oklahoma on land that has an old Quince Tree Orchard. Every spring our yard is full of pink and white blossoms from the still surviving trees. The orchard was planted some time back in the late 1800s to help feed the livestock through the winter. The birds, squirrels, chipmunks and deer clear our trees and ground from the fruit every winter. I am told they are a member of the pear family and that the fruit was also used for making jelly. I hope your trees thrive and serve you well every spring when they bloom.
@@SylviaR.1971I bet if you Google it you will get tons of information about it. I used to work in an open air museum with houses from the 1700s upwards and we had ladies who showed how to process them and in the end they made so called quince bread from the leftovers. Took a lot of sugar to make it but it was a kind of early gum bears Like Haribo back in the days. A special treat only for Christmas I was told. Sadly my kids didn't like it. Try Google quittenbrot, German of its origins
Gail, I hope your trees thrive and they’re plenty of fruit for you so beautiful where you live I would love to live there your your videos is always so entertaining and you and Alex strive for life. Scotland is truly a beautiful place.🌼🌸🌺☀️♥️
Thank you for that glorious intro! The nature views from your home are majestic and I would never want to leave that slice of heaven! And your beautiful shwoos make me smile!!🕊️
Your Quince and Medlars look very healthy ! Generally it is best if you allow bare root fruit trees to grow for 2 years without producing any fruit. That way the tree's energy is focused on developing strong roots . If it does flower and fruit in the first two years, remove the young fruit before it fully develops. I have a small apple orchard and when the trees are all blossoming in spring it is a beautiful sight. Your property looks like a painting come to life.
Hi Ladies! The trees are absolutely gorgeous! 😍 So peaceful.☺️ such beautiful crafts! Your castings are wonderful! Alex, you look stunning in that dress! 😊 The trees look so healthy! ❤ thank you both for a smashing video! 🫶🏻💐💐
I love shopping at those kind of craft fairs, I hope you ladies did well with your sales. Alas, I am thousands of miles away from you. All your jewelry and decorated marmalade jars are lovely. Alex, you look lovely in that dress. I’m glad the fruit trees survived the winter. I have a peach tree that sprouted from a peach pit in my vegetable garden 2 years ago and last year I got 2 peaches from it. They were small but so tasty. I look forwards to your videos every week.
The opening segment of this video is the best one out of all your videos you have produced. Those glorious trees, the stunning views of the landscape (looked like your drone was in action Alex) absolutely beautiful! The shoos were in their element. Great pic of your lovely, solid mansion. Thank you so much.
I absolutely love seeing how glorious the landscape is around your home and the effort and care you take to add flowers and trees to make it even better. The craft fair looked like so much fun, wish I could have been there too ! You certainly had some lovely items for sale, I would have gotten in so much trouble !! Alex always looks so incredible in her period clothing, red is definitely her color 🤩 Gail, you are blessed with a green thumb, your new baby trees will grow just like all your plantings have. I wish you both a wonderful summer of treasures and a bountiful harvest. Much love and hugs 🥰🥰 xx
You're such good cinematographers! The opening shots were just stunning, I love the ones of the shwoos in the foreground with that gorgeous Scottish Borders sky. I've never been across the pond, but when I see video and pictures of it, something deep in my heart feels it calling to me. My ancestors are there, I've always had the feeling that's where I'd end up. I hope it really happens some day.
When I was a youngster I would ask “what’s for tea ?” My mother would often say “frogs legs and cat’s medlars “!! In other words ,wait and see.!!! Love,Jo.xx
It´s so satisfying planting things and se them succeed and grow! Wow! Quince is nice to have in applepaj and jam. Wish I have my own garden. Now I work and enjoy my mums garden .Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wonderful video, ladies. I'm glad the new fruit trees are thriving in their new home. Well done, Gail. The craft fair looked like an amazing place to go browsing for gifts. Alex, you look lovely in your dress. Gail, you looked so happy at y'all's craft stall. Take care. Love from North Carolina.
HI LADIES!! I'M SO PROUD OF YOU BOTH. YOU'VE MADE SO MANY ITEMS TO SELL, AND THEY'RE BEAUTIFUL TO SEE. LOVE THE MUSIC I MUST TRY AND PURCHASE THOSE FOR MYSELF. THE TREES WILL PRODUCE LOVELY FRUIT TO JAM OR PRESERVE. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THEM. THEY'RE GREEN AND LEAFY WITH BUDS SO GOOD TO SEE THAT. NICE JOB AND THANKS FOR SHARING AND PLEASE STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY ❤️ 🙏
I wonder how tall that tree gets and how wide the root system get , just concerned about the wall. I love old stone walls. I love you stand with all the things you made! Wonderful! Congrats on having you stand! I just love Alex's Dress! Beautiful! Fantastic your fruit trees are growing so well!
Beautiful video! The landscape in your backyard simply surreal…(my window to city lights!) refreshing to see your trees growing beautifully Gail, congratulations 🎉 they are marvelous….loved your booth and the many people that came to your table I’m sure were amazed at your work. Hope all is well. Thank you for sharing ladies! Hello from California! 🎉
Hey Gail and Alex Great display at the fair. I don't recall you ever showing that distance view over the wall before. Stunning... not unlike Alex in that dress with her hair down. A German family friend sends us a little box of quittenbrot (quince bread) every year at Christmas. It's quince puree half dehydrated, cut into little squares and lightly coated with coarse sugar crystals. I always look forward to it. Have a great week!
It’s always so satisfying to watch plants and trees grow successfully. A real sense of satisfaction. Your trees look like they’ll give you years of fruit. I’m just setting up new garden beds for winter veggies and flowers. Watching them grow and harvesting their produce is something to look forward to. 🙂🥬🥑🫛🌽🥕🍅🍋🥔🧄🧅
Wow I’m jealous with your amazing scenery you get to wake up to every morning. I hope you did good trading at the markets, you had some beautiful things on display.
I absolutely loved her dress at the fair, and now i know why u have so few things left on your etsey store, if this is what you do w your creations. Hats off.. well done.
Gorgeous display all round. There’s such a beautiful tone to your videos, one of cozy old worldliness snuggled into the present and it’s a really lovely thing to see. The fair looked an absolute triumph ❤🤩🛍️👏
Oooo... Look at how lovely Man Shwoo's tail is getting... every time we see him it is getting longer and longer... He is so pretty. The trees look like they are loving it there... very nice.
What a beautiful introduction to your video today ladies. I just love your peacock and peahens. They’re so beautiful, especially the white peahen, she’s gorgeous. Man shwoo’s tail is starting to come in beautifully, he’s such a handsome boy, I loved seeing his gorgeous coloured plumage while he was sunning himself on the wall. Your Medlar and Quince trees are doing really well. I’ve had quince jelly with roast dinners, it’s so tasty and Medlar jam is yummy too. Maybe it’s something you could sell at a later date as it’s quite unusual to come by. I’d definitely buy it from you, especially as it would be organic and handmade by yourselves, it would be another way to support you lovely ladies.
Guys you inspire me so much! People tend to look at billionaires, athletes, actors and call them successful people but I'm convinced that if life success is even a thing, then it's the people like you who's got it. Doing something unique and amazing, building a cozy home, having a community around you is what's life is about in my opinion. Also I knew you were doing crafts, but your booth at the market blew me out of the water! Your banner was amazing, something straight out the "I Spy" books which I love. Do you have a 3rd channel dedicated to crafts, or do you make these amazing things in secret? :O
You don't pick the medlers till they go rotton and squishy. They both look really healthy. Its always nice to plant something a bit different. Love this channel. So nice to see your craft stall and all the things you two make. Love Alex's dress.
What a fantastic intro the views of the surrounding countryside are amazing breathtaking.. loved the craft fair. Everything you do and involved with is my scene. . Love ya both and your channels . Thank you Gail and Alex
We planted a medlar here in northern France and it's just gets better every year, the fruit yield is amazing and makes fantastic jelly. Good luck with yours.
What a great display at that sale you had. Reminds me of all the great craft shows we used to have here in Ontario in the nineties. Glad to see it’s still alive in the UK. I’m not one much to buy jewelry, but if I was I would definitely have dropped a few pounds. Thanks for taking us along!
Alex, I loved your booth and all of the items you’ve worked so hard on to be able to sell them. Thank you for sharing that footage with us! That would have been interesting to watch in and of itself! Gorgeous music and editing, as always, ladies! ❤

You may have planted them too close to the stone wall as both of the mature into large spreading trees. Both are used for making clear jellies. the medlar requires "bletting" on straw before it is processed.

Hello girls nice to see the trees doing well ,i have a small garden and every year i plant peas just for the colour ,i use marrowfat seeping peas ,you know the ones you buy to make your own mushy peas ,one box probably costs a quid and you easily have five or more years out of them they never fail try it in your vedge plot
I enjoyed this video especially the odd fruit trees. I am looking forward to seeing them next year God’s will be done. I also enjoyed seeing your beautifully decorated table with all of your items. Great variety of clips ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💜
Another wonderful video, thank you. Interesting that you planted two different fruit trees having fruit, that experience tells me, you shouldn't eat straight from the tree. As others have said you must let the Medlar get really 'over ripe' on the tree. The quince also takes a long time to ripen and I would not recommend trying to eat them raw, but the blossom is beautiful. Both fruits make excellent sweet jam or jelly to go with roast meat. You should also try Quince Ice Cream which has a really interesting and delicate flavour.
Those trees are looking good! I am hopeful they will produce some great fruit in the seasons to come... I loved seeing the footage from the craft show, it looks like it was very busy, I wish I could go!

Sound's lovely.
Quinces are really good for jelly making. They contain tons of pectin. Jo don't need to use store bought pectin if you have quinces in hand
@@ritamahlberg8602 Thank you for passing along that vital information, I didn't know that about the pectin either.

Beautiful. Quinces are delicious baked in the oven on an oven tray and when cooked and soft served with cream or ice cream.
I remember my nan making me climb the quiche tree every year for jam yummy I'm now 60yr it a lovely time to remember doing things like that
Wish that I had a quiche tree!
When you first went into the maker's market, I felt Alex was waving at me! It was as if to say, come and see! How lovely!
Your Mum looks so pretty with her hair down. :) The shwoos like to be were the action is. So glad the trees took a strong hold, they look beautiful.

Quince jam is delicious, here in Wiltshire you will still find the odd old tree still fruiting. 😊

I love the green moss rock wall
Quince - yummy. I very rarely see them in the shops for sale.
I admire you two so much! Your amazing ❤
all your videos are so enjoyable to watch, keep up the good work please.
I know you weren’t serious. You love each other like I love Sarah and Mick and Gail and Alex. Manchester and Northern Mudlarks!
I hope you had an enjoyable and productive craft fair weekend. They are such Hard Work!
Hi again from NY State, you definitely have a green thumb. Take care .great video
Oh, and absolutely exquisite scenery.❤❤❤
You may have planted them too close to the stone wall as both of the mature into large spreading trees. Both are used for making clear jellies. the medlar requires "bletting" on straw before it is processed.
There's nothing better than home grown fruit and what you can make out of them. I love that you have chosen unusual fruits. Variety is the spice if life after all.
😂 A nice guest appearance from Sarah and Mick from @ Manchester Mudlarks, at the fair.
I hope you did well. Xx
I could do a painting of most of your opening shots - just stunning video.
Love the old fruit species!
Beautiful views . You are very lucky❤
Wow! Quince! I love that fruit. I grew up eating quince in Chile. The fruit is not very juicy, but if once you pick it from the tree you smash it against a wall a little (not too much) and you sprinkle salt on every bite, you just might think you are in heaven. It just tastes that good! 😊
Awesome video, thank you for sharing 👏🙏❤️
Congratulations, you obviously have a green thumb. Can't wait to see the results with fresh fruit on them. Is there anything you ladies can't do? ❤
Medlar the butt fruit lol 😂
I tried Quince for the first time in Summer (in NZ so ur winter)
I just stewed them and ate with yogurt for breakfasts
Really nice flavour
Ur trees are looking good!!
All beautiful. Scenery, shwoos, trees, etc.
I would have liked to have seen everything you made for the fair. 😮
You stall looked amazing ladies.
Who knew you did that too.
You haven't showed us your crafts. I found that interesting because we watch you find everything mudlarking but we don't see you crafting and making beautiful things to sell.
The fair looked so nice.
The other mudlarkers looked abit put out or am I imagining things?
I hope your trees grow up to produce wonderful fruit.
👏👋😎
In the US we call them Apple-Pears. Its a common fruit option for school lunch. It tastes mostly like a pear but has the crunch of an apple. I’ve never seen anyone make jam out of apple-pears but it is also not something that I find grocery stores carry. I think I would prefer the jam over the actual fruit, but if you have a chance I would definitely try the fruit. 🍎🍐
I used to have several quints bushes. They're best used for making jam.
Can't wait to see you making jelly in a few years! All the hard work and love you both put into your property and crafts have to be reward in itself. Everything you touch thrives and is happy. Love you guys and your channel! Always look forward to the next episode!!
🙋♀️❤️. Thank you both for sharing your beautiful world!
Wonderful Gail. Love watching you potter in the gardens' of your beautiful home.
Medlars are delicious.
I have made medlar jam its to die for ❤.
Medlars are delicious, eaten only when very brown and soft…they taste like a tangy jam…
I hope you sold a lot of your beautiful crafts at the fair!
I loved the found items jar. I need one to hold all the items I can’t find!
You seem to live with a marvellous backdrop and how well you 'capture' it. your videos are watched and also 'gawped' at.
I’m in Australia. Everything about your farm screams history. Your scenery is mind boggling awesome thank you for your hard work providing these videos and a look into your farm life.
