Watching these pilots turn these giant unwieldy machines is fascinating. Having steered recreational hovercraft I know how uncontrollable they are. These monsters have fascinated me since I built the Airfix model 50 years ago.
I think people wanted to travel from London to Paris, the Capital cities, rather than between two seaside towns. Air travel became cheap, as did the Channel Tunnel. I think that's all it was.
