The super emeralds are created from one pair of emeralds from Sonic 3 becoming the shell and the chaos emeralds from sonic 3 and knuckles powering them up. It will never really become canon again. EDIT SEGA made canon that there is only one pair of chaos emeralds
When you die against Son Goku, you don't get a tip on the game over screen. Instead, you get a message from the monkey himself. "Hey, it's me Goku! Don't give up yet, if I did i'd never have reached Ultra Instinct, let alone mastered it. I've already seen your limit, NOW SHOW ME HOW IT BREAKS!"

Oh, and I haven't mentioned this yet, but Goku is one of the few bosses in the franchise who actually damages Super Sonic in any meaningful way, so Super Sonic has an actual health bar in this fight. After you defeat Goku, a cutscene plays, then you will go to results screen. You can actually fight Goku again if you want to, as after the fight he still will be in this void, and you can enter it anytime from the main menu. Beating Goku also gives you a special achievement.

Absolutely not invincible and can be drained by means of the master emerald or even corrupted and has a ring limit. The only plausible way Knuckles could knock Sonic out of his super form is due to the his connection with the Master Emerald, which can shut off the chaos emeralds, it’s either that, or inconsistency on the writers’ part because stronger enemies than Knuckles couldn’t pull off such a thing. Eggman had to make a machine, with prep time and foreknowledge of Sonic using the chaos emeralds to get him in that trap, and that still doesn’t disprove that Super Sonic is invincible. The “ring limit” is an in-game mechanic, always has been and always will be, because canonically, Sonic keeps ALL of his rings that he collects, with the maximum varying between games, so unless Sonic is PURPOSEFULLY LIMITING HIMSELF by not carrying around more rings, then I can’t see any reason why to count it in vs scenarios. And yes, Hyper Sonic is also invincible.

The Chaos Emeralds allowing the Sonic team to compete is irrelevant, rules were not lifted for weaker teams.

Absolutely not invincible and can be drained by means of the master emerald or even corrupted and has a ring limit. Hyper sonic could possibly be invincible but he hasn't been around in years and also has a limit based on rings

The only plausible way Knuckles could knock Sonic out of his super form is due to the his connection with the Master Emerald, which can shut off the chaos emeralds, it’s either that, or inconsistency on the writers’ part because stronger enemies than Knuckles couldn’t pull off such a thing. Eggman had to make a machine, with prep time and foreknowledge of Sonic using the chaos emeralds to get him in that trap, and that still doesn’t disprove that Super Sonic is invincible. The “ring limit” is an in-game mechanic, always has been and always will be, because canonically, Sonic keeps ALL of his rings that he collects, with the maximum varying between games, so unless Sonic is PURPOSEFULLY LIMITING HIMSELF by not carrying around more rings, then I can’t see any reason why to count it in vs scenarios. And yes, Hyper Sonic is also invincible.
