    I want to get into retro gaming but no one ever shows exactly how to go from the very beginning of what emulators are, which ones to get, why to get them and how to configure them, then install them, then how to find games (I know this part is sketchy) how to load them correctly on an SD and then what happens after you get all that on an SD and plug it in to the RP3+. Can you make a video as if speaking to 3rd graders please? I'm either too old or too dumb to figure it out myself. From start to finish, minus downloading the actual ROM of course

      I got into retro games a year ago and had the same problem. The best UA-cam channel with detailed tutorials is "Retro Games Corps" imo. Also almost every retro hanheld has it's own subreddit.
      In general, an emulator is software that functions like hardware of specific consoles. I imagine it as virtual computer chips. There are different emulators for all the different operating systems. Some only run on windows, some only on Linux or Android, so it all depends on the operating system the handheld is using. Most retro handhelds use Linux or Android, more powerful and expensive devices mostly use Windows.
      It all sounds confusing but it's not that hard to make the setup. I really recoment to watch Retro Games Corps tutorials!

      Thanks for the suggestion! I second the comment above about Retro Game Corps - great channel! I'll definitely make some beginner friendly videos about emulators, and how to setup retro games consoles in the future. Please subscribe to be notified when I upload them!

      I'm in this same exact annoying predicament. Trying to set up this Retroid Pocket 3+ right now. I've factory rest this thing 5x already as I reset it with every new step by step guide I try to follow & I still end up lost somewhere along the way & have to reset it & try to find a better tutorial. It's beyond annoying at this point. Seeing so many positive reviews on how easy this supposedly is & how these videos are so helpful for seemingly everybody but me. Just want 1 working game already after 3 days of failing to achieve success. Worst part is I got this off of Mercari & can't even return it for my money back.

      Haha thank you mate! I love them so much man, after playing Game Dev Story about 10 years ago I was hooked. Ended up downloading and playing a solid chunk of all their games over the years

    TBH given it's size, I kinda prefer the start and select buttons where they are. Like on my Odin it's a b*tch to reach the volume keys up top cuz it's bigger, but on the RP3+ hitting those start and select buttons is easier for me than if I was to press them below the ABXY and analog stick.
    I got the same color, it's pretty awesome! I can actually put this in my pocket and has enough power to do many gamecube and ps2 games with a bit of tinkering. Got a 400gb card in this and it's just perfect. Use Castor/moonlight to stream my AAA, Wii-U, PS3 and Switch games using retrobat from my virtual machine.
    Really excited to see what new devices we get this year, but I think I'll be happy with what I got for quite a while.

      @Qasim_Mahmood  Рік тому +1

      Yeahhh it's a great machine! I understand the urge to always want the new shiny toy but I agree, I think I'll be happy with this for a while. It does all I need, it's a great form factor and is fairly cheap. Until we get a massive generational leap in emulsion performance, I can't really see myself upgrading!

    This or the ayn Odin? Price isn't a factor, but portability and battery is. Opinions?

    • @SHx589
      @SHx589 Рік тому +1

      Without price being a factor? Odin.

    • @Qasim_Mahmood
      @Qasim_Mahmood  Рік тому +2

      Sorry for the late response! But yeah, as the other commenter said, if you don't care about price then the Odin all the way. I believe it's a bit bigger so it has better battery life, but obviously worse portability. But it also blows the RP3+ out of the water for emulation performance

    So, this may be a dumb question but I've reset this device like 5x now trying different step by step tutorials and they all lose me somewhere along the way to successfully downloading any games. Once you get to that part in the play store, what do you have to type in for all of the available games that you can install to come up like in a list like it does for you? Or are these games / files something you already have preloaded onto an SD card? This is day 3 now of just trying to figure out the basics to getting 1 single game to work. It's taking everything in me not to slam this thing through the floor.

  • @Markomanski
    @Markomanski Рік тому +2

    doesent it come with games preinstaled ?

    • @Qasim_Mahmood
      @Qasim_Mahmood  Рік тому +3

      Alas, no it doesn't. Retroid is one of the very few Chinese retro game manufacturers that doesn't ship with an SD card and games, so you'll have to get them all yourself

    • @bobsanderz3005

      Is there anywhere that sells the SD card preloaded? Unfortunately I don’t have a PC right now

    • @Qasim_Mahmood
      @Qasim_Mahmood  Рік тому +1

      Apologies for the late reply, but you can buy them from AliExpress. I'm not sure if they'll be configured perfectly for the RP3+, but you can defo buy SD cards and hard drives with thousands of preloaded retro games. I bought a hard drive myself a while ago, and it's pretty great

      I got it directly from the GoRetroid website! I pre-ordered it immediately as it went live, so it arrived pretty quickly. Unfortunately, I'm not really sure what wait times are like currently

      So funny you said that I actually ordered mine January 15 and I haven’t received it yet because they said it was a holiday. And that I additionally had to wait another 5 to 10 days even to get a tracking order on my unit.

    • @kazukyo5980
      @kazukyo5980 Рік тому +1

      @Dj ood? I haven't received a update yet. But I'm sure soon. If not I'll message then. I have there email. But I just ordered mine. So I'll wait another week

      Okay i just got my order. But they send the wrong one. I order the purple See through one. They send me the Nintendo with the color buttons. So I'm not to upset. But I wanted what I ordered. Guess I'll keep the one I have and be happy I got one. 😌 still when we order something? We're expected to get the ones we want. But meh.

      @@kazukyo5980 so let me tell you what happens on the site. So basically you think you go the color you requested after you added it to the cart. You have to double check because it defaults to that grey one. You have to change it yet again. If you try the site and add to cart you will see that it changes.

    how well does the hdmi out work ?

    • @KyleRuggles
      @KyleRuggles Рік тому +1

      It ain't bad! 720p looks ok on my 50 inch tv, since it's not a super powerful system and can't really upscale ps2 and gamecube games much, and that any games prior look totally fine at 720p since they were before the times of high def, I think 720p is a good choice for this system.
      I got an Odin too, it displays up to 4k but I have it set at 1080p, it is quite a bit sharper but hdmi out on the RP3+ is great imo.

    So this thing not ready to play upon arrival.😢.i almost buy it but considering this device only for idiotproof/dumbproof guy,i rather spend on switch or something that already installed from factory

    • @Qasim_Mahmood
      @Qasim_Mahmood  Рік тому +2

      Yeahh it's a bit of a shame, but if you wanted you could buy an SD card or something from eBay/Aliexpress with retro games already installed on it, then all you have to do is back them up and change the folder structure a bit. If you follow a guide it's not hard at all, I promise! Check out Retro Game Corps' UA-cam channel, he does great tutorials

    I’m still waiting since I ordered in Jan of 15, these dudes got my money and said that because of the holiday it’s been delayed. The purple shell on is delayed they could of said that instead of taking orders of merchandise that they don’t have on hand. Which to me kind of feels like they just want your money. They could’ve emailed other people that ordered it and said hey there’s a back order can you just be patient. Instead I got a email which I get it. It’s broken English but at least say hey we’re sorry for the delay. Just hang in there should be a couple more weeks that was 2 1/2 weeks ago my black one the one I got received got here in less than seven days so I know they had that on hand buyer beware is all I have to say.
