2020 MINI ELECTRIC REVIEW | IS THE RANGE ENOUGH?

- The Mini Electric is the first fully electric car I have ever driven and it's safe to say I was surprised at just how well this car handles... My only slight criticism would be the range, there isn't enough infrastructure in place just yet to sway me into buying an electric car.
Stats include a 0-60 in 7.3 seconds, 199 lb ft torque, 182hp and a range between 124-144 miles.

I’m still not completely sold on the whole electric car scene-I understand the benefits but it really isn’t like owning a raw engine, the smells, the noise, a proper engine etc! I like the look of the mini electric compared to other brands. Another great video! 💫

Wow! This video was very well done, Grace! I agree. That startup sound is quite neat. Very spaceship-like indeed. Also, nice visual pans and superb commentary. You had me intrigued and listening from start to finish. Regarding the range anxiety, you're absolutely correct. Most people probably won't deplete/come that close to empty unless they forgot to charge it overnight or are going on a MINI road trip. Lol! 😆 You see what I did there?

If I could charge this car overnight I would probably own one, although the adventure would have to be very “mini” with a range of 100 miles! 😆

MINI quotes 0-60 in 6.9, or 0-100kph in 7.3 - however in the real world, it actually is a lot faster, faster in fact than the petrol cooper S. It will do 0-60 in 6.3s (6.0 is you use the US 1 foot rollout method). It is a really quick little car. Also, around town and in a warmer climate, I am getting about 150miles range (charging around 130-140 so I don't run out). Nice video - I enjoyed it.

At the moment, I don’t think England’s infrastructure is good enough for electric cars. A few more years and these cars will be perfect every day run arounds! Great video Grace!

It is worth noting that there are steam cars from over 90 years ago that are just as quiet, if not quite than a modern electric car. Some of them also started with a key and take about a minute to get a good head of steam.

I’m definitely still on the fence with this one too... just needs more of a range to sell it for me, but I certainly won’t be owning an electric car until I physically have to - petrol all day, every day for me 😬😳 thanks for watching!

Thanks Dylan! Yes I’m exactly the same, I’m too last minute where as the electric needs you to plan more in advance. Hopefully more charging stations will be available over the next few years 🤞🏼

An 11kW home charge is only possible if you have a 3 phase electric supply, which hardly any homes have.
7kW is the realistic power rating which will charge from empty to full in 4 hours.

I'm not sure what is available in Britain, but as a US citizen, other than slightly lower price, why would a consumer go for this over say a Tesla Model 3 with it's greater space, longer range, etc?

@@ausingtv It looks more like 10k to me. But you're getting a lot more car for that 10k. Living in Britain, a mini electric makes more sense. But living in other places that are much larger with more space in between towns, cities, etc, Tesla M3 makes more sense.
Personally, I'm not interested in either, but am highly interested in the Aptera base model with all Solar panels. Less expensive than both. Actually, I would probably pay the extra 2500 for the all wheel drive, which would put it at about the same price as the Mini.
