  • 8 very simple good money habits that can help you feel financially free. A starting point.
    Join Robinhood: join.robinhood...
I felt a little nervous filming this video so my voice and demeanor are super focused, yet I still feel I left out a bunch of little things. This is just a starting point in the world of financial tips. I have so so much to learn, but I get questions about finances and money and travel all the time so I thought I would share the basic things I do. I am still healing my relationship with money and learning it's okay to spend it sometimes. And also still learning a lot about credit cards, taxes, and investing... I'm a novice!
Disclaimer: I know I am so so privileged to be in the position I’m in. I spoke about this at length but decided to cut it out of the video because of how much longer it made it. Though I have struggled with my own forms of adversity, it’s nowhere near the struggles of many others. I know so many external things have actually played a huge role in my becoming more financially independent. Right timing, being more “conventionally attractive”, knowing the right people, the UA-cam algorithm, and more. I would never go so far as to say absolutely anyone could manifest their way out of poverty or out of systemic oppression. To me manifestation is more of a practical form of goal setting. I am so grateful for what I have received in my life, the miracles that have unfolded for me, I hope to do the most good I can with my finances and remain aware of my privileges.

i think if you come from a family that struggled financially, when you do begin making your own money form a positive relationship with money. try not to tell yourself “making money is hard” or “i have to struggle in order to make money” or any limiting beliefs you might have formed around money. i try not to stress about money or feel scared/anxious when spending money. saying mantras like “money flows to me frequently & abundantly. i always have enough for all my needs” helps a lot. but it’s important to release negative perspectives about money and be grateful for all you do have before manifesting abundances to allow for flow & be ready to receive ~~~

Absolutely. I finally was able to get my hands on the book Happy Money by Ken Honda (1st time Amazon didn’t delivery it, 2nd time the bookstore said they had it then cancelled saying they didn’t, and thankfully on the 3rd try I was able to drive to the next time and get my copy of it). It’s been very healing on both ends. I think we sometimes try to overcompensate our upbringing by working even harder physically, when sometimes we need to focus that effort mentally or emotionally. Affirmations, mindset shifting books, and shadow work helped me a lot. I had a dream the other night where I was told I healed my root trauma, but now I have to focus upwards; heart-based trauma. I feel safer now, somehow

simply to put it that if you would go and buy the stuff without being able to afford it twice, you wouldnt be left with much and you should always have some sort of buffer for emergencies etc. other ways to explain it but since you dont seem to get it i thought that to be quite a simple one. going along with the go comment, dont buy shit you dont need

    1. Getting reward points or cash back, which really can add up

    3. If your card gets stolen, you can just cancel it and you won’t lose any money

“Treating yourself” in a materialistic way (e.g. splurging on trendy things like clothing, makeup, accessories, etc. that you’ll probably use only once or twice) will only stress you out more lol. It will clutter your space, put you in debt, pressure you that you have to utilize them when you don’t want them anymore. It’s just noisy for your mental health. If you want to “de-stress” or detoxify, walk in nature alone or with friends, eat food that’s actually worth your money or make your own and go on a picnic, read a book you like, have a conversation over a cup of coffee or tea. The simple things bro. Yes, I understand, that each one has a different way of treating themselves but let’s be real, consumerism is pollution in all aspects. The whole “less is more” mentality is proven to be better for you mentally, financially, and spiritually. It’s the little things that truly matter.
Btw, I’m not putting anyone down here who likes spending things. It’s your money, not my business. But just sharing that knowing what’s really worth to be in your life is beneficial. Sending virtual hugs for everyone x.

Edit: Using more than 20-30% of your credit card allowance and not paying the minimum EVERY MONTH can really damage your credit. So use your credit card like your debit card but don't take cash out of your credit card and stay under 30% of your credit limit.

One of the things that caused me not to save well was when I had my checking and savings account in the same bank. Everytime I opened up my bank app, I would see the amount in my savings account and wanted to spend it so badly. What I did to fix this issue of mine was have my checking account and savings account in two different banks. I opened up a savings account in a virtual bank (Ally Bank) and due to the fact it is virtual, meaning I don't have a savings account bank card, I never spend that money. This tip literally saved me from spending my money a lot and my best friend said that having two accounts in two separate banks really helped her save as well.

I think it is also important to remember that a lot of the things we buy to treat ourselves can harm others because they are produced under unfair conditions or pollute the nature:( And they only give us superficial joy not true happiness.

I'm 26 and I really picked a bad year to get my shit together 😓 but I'm not giving up! I'm tired of living without abundance, no matter what I spent money on it never satisfied something within myself. I'm working on being content with what I have and facing what I need to instead of distracting myself with items or weed.
I'm a lot farther in my journey with abundance and self worth than I was in January, I love this growth and I'm grateful that this pandemic has shown me what is actually important.

I really like what you said about not seeing money as evil because it will block you from abundance. It is hard to not see money as evil because we see what it does to people and the world. But moving forward I will definitely shift my narrative of money that it is a useful tool.

me too. i was recently listening to jessica lynnyados podcast "ghost of a podcast", its about astrology but she speaks on current events and human rights which i find to be a value of mine when listening to spiritual teachers or guidance, i digress.. she mentioned researching what your companies 401ks are invested in and to make sure its ethical/not shady. I would say that goes for stocks, etc too but im still gaining finanical literacy in that realm. just as it does with where you spend your money in general. voting with our dollar

Hey, I use Wealthfront to help me invest. You choose your risk level and it invests in a diversified portfolio for you. It gives an option to restrict certain stocks, so I just researched natural gas companies and other companies I don't want to support, listed those stocks as restricted in my settings, and now I feel better knowing that my money is growing while it's not going to anything terrible!

    Good video.
    Just a few extra points:
-Regarding investing and retirement: Robinhood might not be the best way to start or even invest at all if you aim for long term profits (not that most people do well on short term anyway as there are studies about it) as the platform makes money by you trading and investing. Go for the most reliable way of investing like Van Guard where the job is done automatically. To learn about investing/retirement read from reputable experienced sources like Ray Dalio and his all weather portfolio, Warren Buffet, Barefoot Investor even Tony Robbins who im not a big fan of has a great book about finances which includes retirement plan and stocks separately (even though they are the same thing) etc.
-Staying at airbnb: In lots of countries/cities this is driving rent prices way up to the point families cant afford decent living conditions anymore and also ending small bed and breakfast businesses. Do your research on the area first.
    :D

save for your future. i lived at home for two years during gap year and worked during that time and ended up with 10 000€ on my account when i left for university. things work very differently in different countries but i would just set up a savings account and put x amunt of money there every month. now i havent had to use my student loan at all and im on my third year of uni. (still took the loan as its the cheapest loan ill ever get and government will pay some of it if i graduate in time) but had i spent the money during my gap years instead of saving, i wouldve had to use my loan as well.
if you dream of travelling, save for that, it takes a lot of money. so many reasons to save
