    I live in Zimbabwe Africa and am 71 years old and by watching your videos I am teaching myself to paint. By just watching a few videos I have already learnt a lot but as you mentioned it takes practice, practice and practice!

    Dear David,
    I’ve been following your arch for several years. I am an artist myself but I am in Awe Of your beautiful paintings, your talent and especially, how well you teach each of us listeners. So few people will give time to others once they begin to make money, and speaking for myself, I am very grateful for your time and talent! I also appreciate you telling artist to never tell themselves they’re not good enough… As art truly is a Journey of learning and honing in on our techniques. Helping to build up peoples esteem is a gift and you have that as well. You make me want to keep doing my best and I also appreciated your comment about you continue to learn over the years and that we all have something we can learn from someone else or something else!! you truly are an amazing artist and an amazing individual/teacher!!❤️😊🌈

Beautiful as always and I appreciate the new things I learned as well, Thank you David.

    Over the years I've painted with a myriad of mediums, mostly acrylic as a hobby. It's fun. Last year I quit drinking and my kids went overboard on supplies to keep me occupied I guess. Mostly starter kits...but it's so great. I am tackling roses. UGH. You make so much sense. Today I'm watching this video while attempting my first serious rose painting. Thank you.

    I loved following painting "the basic rose". I am 80 and have been in theater most of my life. In the beginning, way back when..I used to draw and draw most every day. Somewhere along the way I decided I wasn't good enough and I veered away from doing Art except in my theater journey. Now I am back and learning that I have "enough" to paint again. Thank you.

    Wow! Picked up another tip. Thick vs thin paint. Thick has power over thin. Use thin for background and fading edges away. Use thick paint for the bolder and brighter colors. Love your videos and I keep learning more. Thank you for being such a great teacher. It really helps me to understand the why of what you do.

    Greetings... I am a huge fan of your works & get to learn a lot from them... I have a question to ask if its ok... In almost all of your floral paintings the light source seems to be from the centre dissipating outwards of the paper... is it on purpose that you never take the light source from an angle e.g. from top left or top right of the paper for throughout the painting?

    • @JansenArtEducation
      @JansenArtEducation  3 роки тому +1

      I paint with all kinds of light sources. When I am teaching beginning roses or a technique I bring the light from top center so they can see the roundness of the rose easier. I concentrate on technique more than light source. 😀

    I have lost count now on how many x's I have watched this video, lol. I love absolutely everything in the final result. Now for me to implement, without muddying my colors and over mixing my paints & strokes. Also looking forward to implementing some additional blossoms, these Rose of Sharons are beautiful too

    What a delightful video to watch! Loved how as usual you explain so well all the details . You are an exceptional teacher to say the least. I learned a lot & appreciated that you brought quite a few techniques together in one video. Every video is such a layering of learned skills. I think I'll invest in the open medium to give me more freedom in another way. Thank you too for the bits of laughter along the way!!

      #10 Fusion flat. You could also use a #8. Filberts work on this type of rose as well.
