The great and majestic contralto of Dionne Warwick, her niece. And the riveting mezzo-soprano of her daughter, Whitney. That is a transformative triumvirate that continues to speak to us in this day.”

“I was 15 and I was laying across the casket. My mom had passed and I was just crying, crying, crying. And from that moment, the day of my mom's funeral, she grabbed me. And she never let me go. She never took her hands off me. So, Pat, Michael, Gary, family, Aunt Diane, Aunt Dionne, thank you so much for sharing her with her with us, because I actually had her longer than I had my mom.”

Dionne Warwick, BeBe Winans, Darlene Love and a massive choir helped celebrate the life of gospel icon Cissy Houston during a music-filled memorial Thursday in the Duchess of Gospel’s hometown of Newark.
The ceremony at New Hope Baptist Church - where Houston was a congregant and choir leader for decades - was decorated with framed photos of Houston and her coffin was placed in front of the pulpit. The church also held her daughter Whitney Houston’s funeral more than a decade ago.
“She gave so much. She gave me the right to be me,” said Warwick, 83, the 91-year-old Houston’s niece. “Cissy, I’m going to miss you.”

Especially in Newark. I use to live around the corner from where Whitney was raised. I never knew them personally but heard how well they could sing. Her name rang out in Newark even to this day.
How am i just finding out on Dec 31st that Cissy Houston died along with people like Chuck Woolery, Dikembe Mutombo. I am not sure how i missed these but am just watching the ball drop and i am seeing these names in the "In Memoriam" segment and am like WHAT..

I thought the same as I was watching but this was just bits and pieces of the service. Pat has been a strong figure for Cissy. I think the brothers may not be as efficient as Pat and they let her take care of things. As far as the grand like I said this was a short version of the funeral.
