I've heard so many great versions of this, but to me, this is the most beautiful version I have heard. He doesn't break the phrases to breathe in the middle, and I love the way he caresses the word Divin. Most singers take a breath before the word, but he doesn't. And his pianissimi are gorgeous. Simply exquisite.
Superb. It is so difficult to sing high, soft, and sustained. What a beautiful job.

Excellente interprétation en demi-teintes et sans détimbrer ! le texte est plutôt bien prononcé car il n'est pas français ! jolies couleurs et élégance sur scène. Un chanteur qui ne 'roule' pas les ' r ' comme le style le requiert.... et les ' i ' ouverts très délicats à négocier. Bravo

Чудесное исполнение.
You are entitled to think what you will of his timbre and interpretation, but his vocal talent is undisputable.
I can't for the life of me understand how you can call his singing "harsh" in any way - he has one of the most velvety voices i have heard.
His timbre is not dark by any means. In that case, you're confusing darkness with fullness.
He sings light lyric reperoire, and btw his vibrato is perfectly fine - a fast, even vibrato is rather a proof of good technique that the opposite.
Don´t mind stupid people who do not understand anything about proper opera singing while not distinguishing different timbres...

Bravo ! Bravo! Enfin un ténor qui sait chanter comme il se doit l'air de Nadir. Je ne connais pas mais il chante divinement bien avec intelligence et finesse ce que ne savent plus faire les chanteurs même les plus connus sur cette aria .

Very "different" from the majority of other singers if not from everybody else. Who cares, this is tremendously good & vocally thrilling! (yes, the french pronunciation needs improvements but only people who know the correct pronunciation will notice)

Kraus, mi predilecto, aunque M. Fleta es increible,. Quizas halla más de uno, con gran calidad,..
For me, Fleta is #1 in this aria. That's why I can't imagine it without a crescendo on a high note. However, this performance is beautiful in its own way and sustained in a purely lyrical manner, without presenting vocal athleticism to the public, which is hardly available.
Sehr vielversprechend. Tolle Stimmkultur. Hoffentlich wird er behutsam geführt. Könnte in Fritz Wunderlichs Fußstapfen treten.
...nee, könnte ganz sicher nicht in Fritz Wunderlich's Fusstapfen treten. Herr Behle singt toll, keine Frage. Auf hohem Niveau! Fritz Wunderlich hatte, wie die anderen wirklich "grossen" Sänger, einen absolut unverwechselbaren Sound und eine unglaubliche Stimme. Es gibt Aufnahmen von ihm (z.B. der Tamino Arie oder, natürlich völlig anderes Genre, des Schlagers Granada) wo man sich fragt: wie bekommt der Mann das hin? Wo kommen diese Töne her? Wie bei Pavarotti das hohe C in der Rodolfo Arie während des Auftritts in Moskau. Oder ein "Esultate" del Monaco's. Oder das ersterbende Piano am Ende der Aida Arie von Franco Corelli (live gesungen). Die wirklich "Grossen" haben sängerisch Dinge vollbracht, die Profis und Laien gleichermassen erstaunen. Oder Domingo: wird Herr Behle 120 Rollen singen und auf Platte einspielen? Ich lasse mich natürlich gern vom Gegenteil überzeugen, denn etwas "schlechtes" möchte ich ja über Herrn Behle gar nicht sagen.
Er ist klug und seine Mutter Renate Behle wird ihn gut beraten!
PD: si quieren escuchar una buena version del aria de los pescadores de perlas ademas de la de alfred krauss les recomiendo la de tenghiz zaalishvili no se la pierdan!!
canta muy bien, y correcto como debe ser, con voz de cabeza, y no falsete con alguien que no sabe de canto ha escrito por alli.
la partitura original dice que debe ser cantada con voz de cabeza.

I heard Gedda sing this and he was supreme. Not so keen on this interpretation.
Compere , please, with Lemeshev, the same aria.
The only statements true are the ones that are concrete; i.e. the shortage of air at some places. This is definitely due to nerves, not ability. No one would sing that aria, in a competition to boot, without normally being able to sustain the phrases. He looks relatively young and has a lot to prove - He did a great job under such circumstances.
Operatics critique about his voice; imo incorrect - the vibrato is perfectly fine. it's a lyric voice singing tenderly and it's def. not too dark.

no esta mal es un tenor joven y puede mejorar su performance solo tiene que sacar la voz mas a la mascara como en la tecnica italiana, que gracioso krauss "español" con su tecnica "italiana" y que es el mejor interprete de esta aria de opera "francesa" paradojico.
La técnica de Kraus no es italiana. Es belcantista, o sea, puro García.

I would like to hear Helene Fischer sing this.
On her annual Christmas show.
There ARE versions in English, if she doesn't fancy the French.
I have never heard it in German.
However, Ms Fischer is aiming for a shortened lifespan, through her public display of Akrobatik nonsense.
Alas, her fans just gawp passively, when they should be protesting.
So unfortunately my wish may never be fulfilled.
What a waste of a beautiful lady with a beautiful voice.
The song is SO sad that I shall think of it when Ms Fischer is no more.
Daniel does a very good job with this exquisite aria, by the way.

A voice too dark for this aria and his molto vibrato is already noticeable due to a not very good vocal capacity and technique.His Legato is just ok , but not enough for this ¨gem¨, harsh when says RAMI..ERRR... out of breath when says RAVIS..SEMENT (cutting the word).Due to a very rough singing for this particular aria about to tear when says.. EENTR'ouvrir ..straining the whole expression Entr'ouvrir ses longs voileSS..Falseto voice at the end.

Kraus version is the best... Because his technique mainteined his voice fresh and healthy for 71 years.... Never lowered down an aria...never sang in falsetto
