    Now I understand why they got rid of incandescent bulbs. This has been live for years. All kinds of data was slurped up because we put odd bulbs in our homes. These lites are out in parking lots and businesses too. We're always a few steps behind.

    What about each light being a surveillance device?

    This is all bad! Can't y'all See where this is ALL headed!! A total Surveillance State. And we Gladly Accept. We're digging our Own Graves People!! My jaw hit the floor when he said "Smart" City!! Sounds like an an episode from the Twilight Zone.

    Well said i like thr the idea but the chess example isnt just about exponential growth its also how a supposed ruler of the world thought itself more than others because he can give anything and has everything yet the farmer had all inside. Like today's world where we think stuff is status, its actually inner self status of oneself that creates the stuff. So when a group of people like scientists forget the humbleness of life they are reminded that they don't have it all. They are not their stuff or intellect. We have these things, we made it. We made this human experience.
    Yeah let that sink in
    Moving forward THIS IS SOOOOO COOOOOOL.
    Like its awesome what we are rediscovering

    Lots of questions...! Primarily, does it only work with horrific blue/white LEDs or can it be used with health- and vision-friendly non-blue rich lights?

      @@physicsguylikeskinematics777 Ok, I am at a different level than I was last year, although not a significant change.
      In short, the answer is no. The neurotransmitters work using the optical system which is vastly different from the system advocated by LIFI technologists. In terms of EM, it will literally be nothing different from current WIFI, Heck it is, and will even be safer too.

    Yes, until one day investors realize light bounces and have distortions. And it need a carrier passage to be able to do it. We call it laser and fiber optics. Most importantly , light cannot pass through a wall.

    Li-Fi is only practical in specific situations like mobile device usage in Gov SCIF rooms [no windows or light refracting tinting], public transit, and highly controlled guest networks. The complete lack of security is going to be brown-out DOS attack central. Imagine it as doing online banking through a translucent monitor...

    • @mattdecker7141
      @mattdecker7141 2 роки тому

      I want to use this in a SCIF! No emanation. TEMPEST be damned (almost). Think about it - the network and access is contained inside the room only where the light exists.

    So during the day, all the lights have to be on in order to get lifi. so the energy that used to be saved by turning lights off during the day, will now be used in order to get the lifi. Therefor, it's a wash when it comes to energy savings. Then in your house, every light would have to be on just in case you walk to the fridge while watching a movie on your tablet, you would have to turn on all the lights so you don't get any interruption. . unless you also installed occupancy sensors in every room. which then brings up the question of cost. the senors alone for each room is expensive, then are the bulbs for the light fixtures different than typical light bulbs or do they cost more. not to mention the fixture itself that has the integrated data would be crazy cost wise. Also, what would happen if I sit outside, if I have no light outside then I wouldn't be able to pick up on internet. Or our xbox is tucked away in a cabinet without hardly any light reaching it but it's fed off wifi. This is an interesting idea but I don't feel as though it a solution more than just a different option.

    the 64 chess squares and the comment about more wifi consumption in 2016 was more than in all of human history. It's a bit trite to make those observations. WiFi is not yet 50 years old. Exponential growth is so well known that the chess board legend is - to say the least - boring. The idea of using LEDs for data transmission is fine, but the data has to reach the LED from some source. In my house it would need to be either from my ISP wired connection or from a WiFi source that can penetrate my roof & walls to being the signal into the home. The former is the more likely path and the latter is speed bound just like my home WiFi station is. I'd need to have power-cable data transmission to make each LED in the house a LiFi station. That too implies a speed limitation coming from the speed of the power-cable data transmission. The story being told sounds like it has a very long way to go before it will be genuinely superior to optical fibre and copper wire data transmission.

    Has anyone seen if Li-Fi effects epileptics?

    • @Jimbobbinson
      @Jimbobbinson 6 років тому +1

      It won't :) Your computer screen monitor works the same way as the light as it refreshes so fast that the human eye recognizes it as a constant light. The same principle is also applied in movies and in cameras.

    • @EdMorleyTube
      @EdMorleyTube 6 років тому

    • @EdMorleyTube
      @EdMorleyTube 6 років тому

      im not sure just strobe lights can flash so fast they look like their on all the time and just bright light can cause seizures. so if we ever get this lol. we'll see if it effects my sister. but yea I think its less the eyes n more the brain with epilepsy I dont know enough to guess just thought it was worth asking.

      I work in lighting, lamps that used to sell for $35 are now $2. Like any market with mass production for the retail consumer the prices will be pushed down as the technology improves and the market grows.
