    So we made 480k last year, it’s me and 4 others guys super solid team. We are looking to break into 500k this year. My question is how much money should I have in our business savings and checking. I try to keep at least 50k on the checking and $250k on the savings. Everything is paid off except a ditch witch mini skid steer. I truly don’t know if that’s enough to keep in the bank. Usually a month I spend about 15k-20k+ and make about 40-45k a month. I should keep saving? Should I look into investing? Only major investment I’ve done is a 24acre property with a huge shop for my business.
    Any feed back would be great!

    • @MikeAndes
      @MikeAndes  2 роки тому +1

      $250K in business savings account is very solid! Usually I shoot for at 3 months of expenses set aside for reserves… but if you are growing fast I’ve gone as low as 1 month

    Well Mike….. some of us ACTUALLY LOVE doing this work every day…. So your entry to this vid , just offended THOUSANDS of people who LOVE WORKING… it’s not a bad thing. Not all of us want the mental stress of what YOU HAVE. Been there and done that 😎💪🔥🇺🇸 I OWN MY LIFE… don’t need a BILLION DOLLAR HEADACHE with 500 children in the field working and making mistakes 😂😂 BUT, I’m sure THOUSANDS of other viewers will BENEFIT GREATLY from this vid. Keep up the hard work….

    • @slowrider30

      @@slowrider30 it’s all good, I watch a few of his vids time to time over the years. He’s a good guy for sure. I’ve run large scale companies in the past… it’s not for everyone. Wasn’t bashing him, just wanted him to think about that perspective from other life experiences and through others eyes 👍😎

    • @MikeAndes
      @MikeAndes  2 роки тому +4

      I agree with you. I relistened to the recording and the first part didn’t come across right. My bad. Most people SHOULD keep business small. They will be happier and potentially more profitable. Thanks for insight

    • @elitelandscapeslifestories
      @elitelandscapeslifestories 2 роки тому +1

      @@MikeAndes Like I said Mike, I know you are a good person, no bashing intended. It was just the delivery words that could have been different… I just know that so many Family Businesses, Husband and Wife Teams, Brothers that operate together, etc in our Green Industry and Farming and so on. We go through the same process and planning and chaos as anyone else that owns and runs a business. After my ambitions as a young man were accomplished, I learned and realized that the Profit Margin for this industry and probably others is good when you only have 1-6 employees. But to get to a TRUE NEXT LEVEL of Profit, a person must have 10 or more fully stocked crews for the actual owner to start making MORE PROFIT in his/her pocket. So, I made the decision to start solo, as a perfectionist at the age of 35. My business will grow to a certain point and then level out as it has now to a steady flow of year round income. So, over 29 years in the field working, I’ve gone from $8 per hour income to $80 per hour income. No matter how big our ambitions are… it’s ALL ABOUT EFFORT 👍😎👍🇺🇸 Keep on Rolling Brother stay Strong Minded

  • @Jimmyjimjimjim
    @Jimmyjimjimjim 2 роки тому +2

    Don't think your first point is fair Mike. I see your point but no. If you have to file for a business license you own a business. Don't down play one man shows in any trade.

    • @MikeAndes
      @MikeAndes  2 роки тому +9

      Definitely NOT trying to down play or discourage. I also know that many young people start a “business” and then get depressed because they realize they simply work 14 hours a day doing the same thing they would do if they were an employee. Nothing wrong with it if someone intentionally wants to stay small. I think that is a good move and can be profitable! I didn’t mean to down play. In listening to the recording, I see how it could be taken that way.

  • @gamemakerdude
    @gamemakerdude Рік тому

    How does taking in $100,000 in revenue just count as a "job"? Even at a high price point at $50/yard, it would require 2000 yards cut per year. That's slightly over 5 yards every single day of the year. Accounting for winter, that comes to an average of more than 7 lawns cut every day during spring, summer, and fall. Below the $100k point, hiring an actual employee doesn't seem practical taking into account wages, insurance, and taxes. Maybe I'm just short-sighted, but it seems the only way to do this would be to hire contractors who agree to take a percentage of each job.
