Having owned the trail for 2 months with about 500 rounds through it now James review is spot on. It’s not the most precise bolt in the world my groups came up right at 1.5 with rem 55 grain but it’s just damn fun to shoot honestly. The ruger is still a solid rifle I just like the fit, finish and look of the cz more.

@@dillonsurratt The recall was due to the fact that they originally designed this to be barrel interchangeable, but found that it could be reassembled wrong by the user. they have since gotten rid of that feature. you can check your serial number on their site to see if yours is effected. I just bought mine about a month ago and is not effected by the recall.

Don’t know why, but I love to “run ‘n gun” with bolt guns. Currently I only have an old Lee Enfield, so I’ve been looking for something lighter and with less recoil than the hefty 303 British (also, something that doesn’t cost $1.50 a round). I was hoping this would be it, considering I love how it looks, and I like CZ. But I think I’ll go with my original plan of getting the Ruger American in 7.62x39. I want the accuracy more than I want cool. Still. I may have to get this a few guns down the road. And who know? Maybe they’ll do something to get better accuracy.

I feel the same, I have a simple 22 bolt and the older cz 557 in 308, both with 10 round magazines and both are fun to run and gun with.
Would love a nice in between, 7 62 x39 or 300 blackout in a small package to be the perfect little mix of cost and power between the two.

A bit of an odd ball set up but I have a right handed CZ 527 in 7.62 x 39 and use a custom left handed thumb hole stock. The rifle is light enough for me that I can cycle the action with my right hand without having to move my left hand/thumb the way I would with a conventional stock. It actually works pretty fast especially when I can support the fore end so that I don't even have to put my right hand back on the stock.

So long story short is if it’s european and says .223, you can safely shoot .556. Feel free to disagree or fudd all over your phone.
