Keep at it man, you’re doing amazing in both skateboard and inline skating. Love watching these!!! Happy Father’s Day to ya and hope these memories with your son is super special :D
Do you prefer a skateboard in motion or the blades?

That is a complicated question. I skateboarded in my teens and off and on all my life and just started the inlines last September (2023). For just pure love of the sport, I have to say skateboarding wins because of my history with it, I have always loved it. The inlines are something I do with one of my sons though and that makes it special to me as well because its a way we spend some quality time together. So if I had to pick blading with my son or skateboarding, I would pick the blading, if I skate alone, its almost always the skateboard.

Nice. Happy Father's day. Where are you guys from? When I get back to the states (probably end of year), I'd like to travel around a bit. I'll bring my blades and board to that park. I should imrove by that point.

Wow dude that was a huge day. You’re making progress every time you got out. Just incredible job. And you’re riding all this switch? The drop ins are switch too?

The switch is a strange thing for me. I surf, water ski, wakeboard, longboard etc. all regular footed, but I learned how to kickturn on a skateboard in my grandmothers garage around her car and the only direction I could go was counterclockwise and doing that goofy made it easier since I was facing her car. For some reason that stuck and I never relearned to kick turn regular footed, so now I just ride everything goofy. The kickturns are natural that way, but the carving is not and I am working on that. I'll work on the regular foot kickturns at some point I guess.

@@theaverageoldguy OMG so you’re riding goofy but technically you’re a regular skater?! Dude I can’t get my mind wrapped around that. 🤯

@@theaverageoldguy I keep thinking about your channel name and I feel like it does you a disservice. With all the things you do there’s nothing average about you. Most 62 year olds aren’t doing what you’re doing. You should be the Non Average Old Guy. 😁 or something like that. Maybe UnAverage Old Guy? Sorry if I’m overstepping my bounds I was just thinking out loud.

@@StevesSkateXplosion Yea, the goofy/regular thing has always been a strange issue for me. I don't know why I never learned to skate transitions regular, but it just never happened and really wasn't necessary. I skated ramps and skinny half pipes in my teens, but there was no need to carve to do that so I just kept the goofy stance. Any skating I did on hills or on the street was regular and I just switched stance to kick turn. The channel name was originally intended to show that regular average old guys could do more than just play shuffleboard, and that you don't have to be a former pro athlete to do physical stuff in your 50's and 60's. I guess now I have narrowed my focus to skating/skateboarding and probably would benefit from a name change.

@@theaverageoldguy oh okay I get it. That makes sense. I was looking at it differently than you intended.
