His work with Barnstorm was underappreciated. Loved Joe's visit with Daryl Hall (Philly guy, but still great) on Daryl's webisode series "Live from Daryl's House". Joe has had a huge impact on the music scene in so many wondrous ways!! A national treasure, like the dearly departed Dan Fogelberg.
Love and look up to Joe so much! He is an incredible musician and human being all around. I Thank God and am so grateful that he got the help he needed and defeated his "demons" to still be here with us. He really had been through so much since he was a kid. As hard as it was, he could have easily given up, but be stuck to it. Someone or something up there sure was with him. I personally think it was meant for him to still be here....
Wish you had been there. We were. When Joe came out on the stage the first words out of his mouth; (there was controversy btw I won't go into) we all have one thing in common that is Dan Fogelberg. He may have said Danny but you get the idea. I will never forget that from Joe. Btw, I was there back in the day moving stuff into Caribou Ranch and hanging out at the Pioneer Inn in Nederland. Where guys used to show up to jam like Joe, Dan and Steven Stills (who lived down and across the mountain in Gold Hill. Yes, and we were all young and F*Ked out of our minds.
Apologies if someone else has already pointed this out, but Joe Walsh and Dan Fogelberg were both being considered for membership in the Eagles around the same time. Fogelberg decided he wasn't a good fit for the band, and they ended up hiring Walsh.
No ! Dan knew he and the Eagles were going in different directions ! I read Dan was not interested in becoming another Eagle ..... All the best to you !
@@johncopeland3826 actually he had an offer but knew what was going on behind the scenes with them and he was such a loner and already knew he would be a millionaire on his own doing his own very special brand of music in addition to the top 40 stuff he had to do.
Mr Joe Vitale who was part of Dan Fogelberg' s many touring ensembles on drums ...now you're cooking with gas ? A brilliant ,immense , multi instrumentalist musician of the highest order who is as modest and genuine a person as they come . What a proper , rare ,pleasure to behold .
Joe Walsh & Barnstorm were inducted to the Colorado Music HOF along with Dan Fogelberg. Garth Brooks did a rousing version of Dan's Phoenix & JohnnySwim did a stunning version of Netherlands. As for joining the Eagles they chose Joe. Dan had his own thing. Both are musical giants.
I met Joe Vitale one night after a CSN concert, at the bar at their hotel. He hung out with us regular folks in the lounge a couple of hours & answered a lot of questions about his impressive career. Such a down-to-earth guy!
Thank you for sharing this. Do you know where I can get the full concert besides axs. I played rocky mountain way in my old band. My new band is more classic rock. We do play heart of the matter don henley and I play drums. I love joe Walsh. Hes my favorite eagle. He has the same sense of humor. dan fogelberg albums were really the only albums I bought while i was studying classical piano. But i love everything. Gambler brought tears to my eyes. I thank you for sharing this.
I have the whole concert if you want it I was there and worked in Nederland and at Caribou Ranch back in the day. I have no idea how I would get it to you as I will not give out my personal info on yt of all places. The concert was available to watch online only for awhile and I hacked it (sorry for the background noise in Joes music) so I could record it on the computer. Fiddlers Green Amphitheater, Very first performer was Dan Fogelberg. Jun 11, 1988 · On a historical note, this was the very first event at this brand new outdoor venue, just off of I-25, a few miles South of downtown Denver. The Colorado Music Hall of Fame presented by Comfort Dental will induct its seventh class on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre, at the Rocky Mountain Way concert to honor Colorado-tied artists and music-industry movers and shakers. The event will honor legendary singer-songwriter Dan Fogelberg, world-renowned studio Caribou Ranch, and rocker Joe Walsh and his band Barnstorm, an act he fronted in the ’70s before joining the Eagles.

WTF would you post a cell phone video of a concert playing in TV? And your title is BS too. Maximum effort here pal. I posted too early. I had no idea you were gonna mention Charlie! But that's as far as I can make it 😢
Not much volume from the band itself. However, we can hear the odd interjection from some one in the background. THis was much greater in volume than the concert itself. WT? 👎 THis gets a thumbs down from me just for that.
Joe Walsh did not know Dan Fogelberg. Both men are the same exact age and Joe Walsh was too green to produce anything. A producer funds the money to make an album. Walsh didn't have that kind of money. The album was produced by Norbert Putnam for Full Moon Productions, Dan & Azoff's corporate business partnership.
Joe Walsh is listed as a producer and musician on the "Souvenirs" album. There's picture evidence of Walsh and Fogelberg together. Joe Walsh also played on the "Nether Lands" album.
OMG! You know you're a Legend when you have someone like the Master Joe Walsh giving you a Tribute!
Those guys were friends going back to Joe's James gang days.they were both Colorado residents in the 1970s.
I had no idea Joe produced my fav Dan Fogelberg album!
It’s a great album
Long before Joe became an Eaglet there was a little thing called The James Gang.
I remember the James gang, back in the day!
the James Gang I saw when I was 16 years old...his best band ever!
Saw them reunite and play in Columbus Ohio not long ago for Veterans Aid concert.

Love them both so much ❤
I did not know that. Thanks for sharing . I think Dan made the right call there.
I was there! Hella great evening! (Especially Joe! )
I love the collaborations of Joe and Joe. Their friendship goes back many years--they do the best music together:).
We were in the twelfth row that night. I really wish the CMHOF would put the whole night out on a DVD. BUT lawyers.... Thanks.
Souvenirs is my favorite Fogelberg album.
i never realized that Joe produced Souvenirs! my favorite album of all time! gosh Joe was quite a partier in those days!

And i didn't know he produced souvenirs. My favorite is Netherlands.
Not only Joe but all the Eagles worked on his albums.
A living legend
Joe was also being inducted into The Colorado Music Hall of Fame with Barnstorm and Dan Fogelberg that night. This is why they held this concert
I know but read my comment right at the top his first words as he came out on stage. I was there.

Joe Vitale on drums and Tom Bukovac on the rhythm guitar. That's what i call a proper back-up
Vitale was with Fogelberg for a few albums and touring.

So good.
They should release the entire concert on DVD.
Great stuff. Got here with a search of: dan fogelberg with metal guitar. I'd have thought that there'd have been some metal covers done, but no.

Huh? If you looked up Classic Rock in the dictionary, the definition would be Rocky Mountain Way.

I love wallsh. Loved fogleberg . Don't get how this is a tribute to Dan
This must be Fiddlers Green....in Englewood.
the comments by the recorder ruined the video......rip Dan
What Fogelberg song did he play? A tribute implies he played one of Dans songs, not just mentioning his name.
he produced Souvenirs
The only tribute was he mentioned him by name. A real tribute would be playing one of Dans songs.@@susangerdsen3941
I can't find the full concert.
3:10
I spy Lil Tommy Bukovac
Where was this played.

I think there's more to it than that but you're entitled.
So you just make up stuff and then to you it becomes a fact?

this does not sound like a dan fogelberg song..darn, joe is still friggin more conceited than necessary! jeez!!!
What song are you referring to by Fogelberg?
Didn't here any Fogelberg here either. On the All Star Tribute album Joe (The Eagles) did cover "Part of the Plan" very well.
Huh?
I cannot find the whole live show.
Well Dan was clapping
