Beautiful
I just discovered this song by Leonard Cohen and Sharon Robinson and it has become one of my favorites. None of the other covers of this song appeal to me......except this one. Thank you for such a beautiful experience.
Beautiful!
Perfectly beautiful.
Fantastic! Best version. Congr.
Angenehm, Euch beiden dabei zuzuhören!
I also think that you give the song more life than the original.
Nice use of "James Taylor" chords and technique! Very lovely. Very tasteful. Leonard and Ms. Robinson would be delighted.
wow really stunning, hate to admit it but I think @prayforwales is right
So Beautiful! La chair de poule.
fantastic performance, try to stay more away from the original and make it your version, you‘ve got the talent and skills to make it your song.
I honestly love that song and i never ever liked anyone elses cover,,,,,,,,,, ever. Until now ,bloody well done. xx Beautiful.
@@mariannell hey Marianne...goodbye ...
To me, covering Leonard Cohen is somewhat similar to covering Dylan, in that many try, some succeed in making the melody more digestible for a commercial palate, and very few ever capture (let alone enhance) the virility of the original.
Sinnober, this is immaculate. Well done.
I will gladly follow your music anywhere.
Thank you.
This means a lot to us. Thank you for taking the time to write.
sublime cover. joyous synchronicity. I'm Canadian but lived here for 19 years. It'll be my boy Max's 19th birthday Sunday the 17th and he's also moving to Bristol to study and i was stumbling around hopefully, looking for a place to celebrate and now have found that you two beautiful soulful songbirds are playing at The Canteen that night; I'm sold. hope you play this.
Thank you so much for your comment Sandra. Hope you enjoyed the gig yesterday. More videos coming soon. :)
Just perfect. You have made a most poignant song even more poignant 👏🌹💕🇦🇺
Really good cover appreciated from France.🎶🎶
I stumbled across you guys this evening... what a lonesome tonic it was - I was blown away by the beauty of the songwriting and the simplicity of arrangement. The voices though! (You must be siblings no?) I went from watching your videos on the Secret Sessions page to listening to the album Little Wars in it's entirety on the BC page. Ended up crying at track 7. That did me in! I'm a songwriter too but don't you think it's funny sometimes how music just finds it's way to you? I hope one day to see you both singing in the West and maybe even visit your studio in Frome someday. I wish you the very best of luck in all you do. Maria
Thanks Maria. A message like this is what helps us to keep doing what we do. It means a lot, and we're genuinely touched. Hope to see you at a gig soon. Take care, Sinnober
As close enough to be perfect as actually to be perfect.
Leonard Coen did a "cover" of a poem that was published 110 years ago. The greek poet C.P. Kavafy wrote this poem, at 1911.

THE GOD ABANDONS ANTONY - C.P. CAVAFY
When suddenly, at midnight, you hear
an invisible procession going by
with exquisite music, voices,
don’t mourn your luck that’s failing now,
work gone wrong, your plans
all proving deceptive-don’t mourn them uselessly.
As one long prepared, and graced with courage,
say goodbye to her, the Alexandria that is leaving.
Above all, don’t fool yourself, don’t say
it was a dream, your ears deceived you:
don’t degrade yourself with empty hopes like these.
As one long prepared, and graced with courage,
as is right for you who proved worthy of this kind of city,
go firmly to the window
and listen with deep emotion, but not
with the whining, the pleas of a coward;
listen-your final delectation-to the voices,
to the exquisite music of that strange procession,
and say goodbye to her, to the Alexandria you are losing.
That’s a very beautiful rendition. Love the vocals and guitars. Kudos!
Beautiful version of one of my favourite Leonard songs. Thank you guys

When I first heard this song sung by Sharon Robinson I thought it was perfect for guitar accompaniment. You've proved it. Great cover.

Beautiful :-) xx
do not choose to change the lyrics. you fall among disrespectful. the line is "the God of Love preparing to depart"..if you choose to write yourself a song, do so. do not do this. he would swat you. she would not be flattered-Ew.
@suddenlyitsmagic. Hello there! Thank you for your comment. You are absolutely right, people should never change the lyrics of a song. We are singing the poem 'Alexandra Leaving' as it's written in Leonard Cohen's 'Book of Longing'.
Suddenly the night has grown colder.
Some deity preparing to depart.
Alexandra hoisted on his shoulder,
they slip between the sentries of your heart.
You should read it. It's very inspiring.
@@sinnobermusic Thanks for the enlightening clarification -- I was leaning toward wholly agreeing with what @suddenlyitsmagic posted above, but I appreciate the riposte -- good to experience both versions -- and it helps in imagining how the process went that Sharon Robinson has described, of her and Cohen reworking the original lyrics somewhat as they crafted the music --
Handled with care. Beautiful reading. Did some research on these fine musicians and picked up on their two latest releases. Wow, a great find.
Wow. This is haunting. What s great rendition of this Cohen classic. So glad I came across this. ❤❤❤
So beatiful❤
