There's a flashback on Miyo's mom in episode 1, as Miyo is about to leave her house to go to Kudo's. Little Miyo is running towards her mother who's standing in front of the cherry tree, wearing a pink kimono with similar pattern to the one Miyo is staring at in episode 3.
It's a bit sad that she worries so much about being abandoned by him when he knows she has no powers and we see from his convo with the PI that he suspected that and it didn't matter for him. About the PI, I'd like to think that he also has supernatural abilities and that was the way he got so much info about the family, lol. And Kudo is a powerful and rich guy, he would hire the best PI at hand. Miyo got so happy with the comb, I'm looking forward to when she gets the kimono he bought for her. Hopefully, she will smile and laugh (you know, doing a happy dance, lol lol) instead of crying. But either way I guess I will be the one crying, lol.
Rusty: Yeah, the conditioning that she has gone through is a bit tragic, but I'm sure he will renew her spirit. I think we're all in for a good cry by the end of it. Kimono is going to look pretty on her.

When Kouji suggested Kaya going to the recently opened department store, the word he used is quite unfamiliar. People say “depato(dept.)” for short rather than fully call it “department store” nowadays. For the first department store in Japan opened at 1904 and the time set in the early 20th century, it’s something new then. Not sure if he was talking about that department store though. That’s a cool detail.
These are cool moments. And it's cute the way Kuduo looks at her. Miyo does have a soft, serene voice which probably does help Kudou fall in love with her as well. This looks would if been around the time of Japan's industrial revolution happened after coming out of world isolation. So I imagine we will see alot of thing new here to their world :)
So earlier on it was said that kudo was cruel to previous woman bcs they were after wealth and status. And he made it clear he hates/despises those woman. That's where the rumors come from. If Miyo were to be the complete opposite of her character, kudo would have treated her differently.
It's a good point, it could be that when he found out what they were marrying him for, he's could of got angry with them. Given the nature of the show though, I would like to think he just told them to pack up their stuff and leave.
Not that it isn't obvious but I think it is worth pointing out that Kudo tells her the next thing for them is marriage and he gives her the "its totally not a proposal" comb after he suspects she has no powers but before he finds out anything about her bloodline. He wants to help her and heal her purely for her sake.
Kiyoka is very observant. As someone who read the manga (up to this point) and is currently reading the light novel I really love the anime adaptation and they leave the important parts inside but for some it's hard to express everything in an anime. I don't want to say it because I don't know if the anime will catch that up earlier but there is a hint when Yurie states how Miyo is different from the women who came before and seeing the contrast of Miyos reactions and how Kiyoka treats her (it doesn't explain how the rumors of him started but I think it contrasts very nicely how and why Miyo's impression of him is different).
Rusty: Yeah, some things can be quite hard to translate to other mediums. Long as the missing parts don't affect the natural flow or leave out important information then I'm accepting of that. The rumours of him being brutal are likely just the jilted women who couldn't win him over, but as long as Miyo doesn't see or experience that, then the reason for the rumours doesn't matter. She can just base it on her own experience at that point. I see him as a stern but fair person overall at this point. Miyo, I love her, just want her to want to treat her like a daughter like her father should have.

I also love Miyo and wish her all the happiness in the world. They both are really made for eacht other. And that's just from what we've watched in the anime version so far.

From Yamada to Kiyoka, we're getting some gorgeous lads who're also very good with communicating their feelings for the respective FMCs this year. Next year will top it with Yubisaki to renren though, and that's all I'll say about that one. Pretty sure that one's scheduled for winter 2024.
P.I. could have gotten a lot of the story by finding a servant, who had been there a while, that was willing to talk with a promise to forget their name and a thank you tip.
@@SliceOfRustronamy Yeah, it's not like that family inspires loyalty. I imagine there are plenty of people in their circle (above and bellow stairs) who would be willing to air their dirty laundry... so long as they can stay anonymous.
I think it doesnt matter even if Miyo inherited her mother's power. Her stepmother still would be vindictive and abused miyo because Sumi Usuba (Miyo's late mother) is the woman she hates.
Possibly, but if Miyo did gain her powers I think she might have been more scared seeing as the Usuba power seems to have the ability to manupulate human emotions etc.
This show is giving me yamada kun vibes. It literally makes you want to be the male character to sympathize a female character who just got dumped out. I love the show so far.

The rumors more than likely are from his subordinate soldiers and of course the other women who came to be potential brides. He hates arrogant, narcissistic women. Mayo is beautiful, humble and kind, unlike the other women who threw themselves at him.
If the attack is done by Miyo's clan then usuba clan has to be the worst clan. When she was suffering they never came to rescue her and now when she started to live a normal happy life they started to destroy it.
I think it might be the family that wanted to inherit her blood. I forget his name but he got angry when it was him and coincidently Kudou sees attacks. Definitely interesting though.

Another really good episode, thanks to Yurie as well as Kiyoka's own observations and actions, Miyo is slowly changing.... slowly
Yeah, she's growing nicely into her surroundings. She's getting there. Going to be a good episode when we finally see her 100% comfortable.
My theory her Father's second wife is also come from Usuba Family, and she manipulated Miyo Father's mind to also hate Miyo.
