My family has lived in Central GA for years and I've lived there all my life, and I've been away for 5 months for military training but I can't wait to cruise the streets in my 86 nissan again and eat countless nu way hotdogs. Love the video. Only 45 days left till I'm back to my one true home.
Yes, beautiful city. Downtown Macon It is home to many museums, ranging from the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame to the Tubman African American Museum Nomerous Antebellum homes are located in Downtown Macon, including the Woodruff House, the Hay House, and the Cannonball House.Thank you for the beautiful video and for the virtual tour from Chicago, Illinois.
I lived in macon a little over 6 months doing some work at plant shcerer. I met some cool people and found some nice hangout spots. Always got love for the Mac Town!!! 😊
I grew up in Macon. 1958 - 1966 (5th grade through high school graduation, (Willingham High). It was a blast back then, even though the Highschools weren't coeducational....at least not the White Schools. Great Football rivalries, though for years we beat Lanier like a drum. I can't believe you didn't "drag Cherry." The sad part is that the old hangouts like Finchers BBQ and Pig And Whistle were no where. There also were so many places that no longer are there. Chichesters' Drugs, NuWay hotdogs, Marks Hideaway (Restaurant under the Street), etc. I did catch a glimpse of the Dempsey, but it looks like a lot of vacant store front / buildings in downtown. No matter, I still LOVE Macon. You really should have Showcased Macon during the Cherry Blossom festival and shown some of the beautiful Antebellum homes there.
This video opens with the street I grew up on that is no longer there; Virgin St lol. Brings back memories, good and bad. This is an incredible video. 👏🏾
I love Macon. While Savannah is the colonial South and Atlanta is the modern South...Macon is the antebellum South. Just going down I-75 from Atlanta to Macon and I-16 from Macon to Savannah is a step back through time (architecturally speaking).
@@ramencurry6672 It means "before the Civil War"...a lot of the old mansions from before the Civil War are still standing because Macon did not get destroyed during the Civil War.
Macon Georgia, I left Macon back in 2011. That looks like Macon Center on the right. Now you're no Poplar St. On MLK Jr Blvd, Mercer Medicine, Walnut St. going left. I use to live in that motel on the left about 20 years ago. I remember Broadway, take a left on Riverside on the left, I still they run light huh? Ole College St, on Georgia Ave, right on Mulberry. All you are doing is driving around.

Otis Redding, daughter, opened up a shoe store named Karla's, back in the day and I was sad to hear about the store closing down. I kept saying I was going to shop there, but waited to late.
Home of Capricorn recording studio. Allman Brothers, Wet Willie, Chuck Levell, Otis Redding, Little Richard etc. All the 70's bands called Macon home at some point, even Cher who married Greg Allman. Downtown has everything you need for a good time. Legendary H&H Cafe, many other eateries on Cherry Street. Home of Cherry Blossom Festival. So many things to offer. Of course like any mid size town, there are areas riddled by crime but everyone knows to stay away. The video here does not do justice to the city. Come see for yourself.
What happened to king Park Circle were beautiful new built homes my family brought the country too the city chickens, lawd when my family that I love parked on the lawn but that's minor. Compared too king Park Circle drug dealers had willing Macon people strung out on crack cocaine SMDH.!
What’s the purpose of this video without any talking about what this blogger is seeing hell I live in Warner Robins if I want to see Macon I will just get on 247 and off I go.
It’s an interesting place. Yes a lot of empty stores and old ruins and it is on the “depressing “ side. But it does have an interesting historical vibe.
I was born and raised in Macon. It sure has gone down fast. I moved out in 94. Will never go back. Down town is looking better but it’s still a shit hole city. Nice place to visit but don’t move there.
