Islam Makhachev had a padwork session with his Head Coach, Javier Méndez. Islam was in fight camp for Alex Hernández. He was scheduled on the opening card of UFC 249 when it was originally scheduled to be headlined by Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, New York City, but that event was cancelled, due to coronavirus. This was filmed in the Pro Room of AKA Headquarters on February 28th, 2020. Out of about an hour of kicking footage, less than four-and-a-half minutes were deemed okay to publish.
The gym has been closed to the public since March 17th, 2020. AKA Thailand has just reopened. We are awaiting directives from the Santa Clara Health Department to be able to reopen Headquarters in San José.
We can't wait to get back into the gym for DC's fight camp against Stipe Miocic. That's going down on August 15th, 2020. Don't miss it!

The problem with Makhachev is he's a tough fighter, hard to beat, but he's rank is medium ... that's why all fighters dodge him, their risk of losing is big, while if they win, they don't have much influence on rank and don't make a lot of money. In the end it's more money than sports

I haven't, but Coach Javier has been using them a lot for kicks. He has a huge collection of pads, so if he chooses them to work with Islam and Khabib, they must be good.

What do they do for HIIT ?
Go watch the videos I made during Conor McGregor fight camp “Last Bike Practice Before Conor Face Off” or for Dustin Poirier “with commentary by Snoop Dogg.” They both show the HIIT circuits in the ProRoom evening sessions. Khabib didn’t want anyone filming it during Tony Ferguson camp (except I shot with ESPN for UFC one night), so I only took photos this time around. Some pics are in the “community” tab of this channel or on @akaallaccess Instagram.

Assel Kuletayeva, your ignorance is showing. Coach Javier started training in Tang Soo Do Korean martial arts in 1978. From there, he went to West Coast Tae Kwon Do and trained under the former CEO of Strikeforce and current President of Bellator, Scott Coker. He was ISKA world champion in 1992 and 1995. Javier Méndez is the best kicking instructor in the world for MMA.
