Interesting. I now realize that I saw you in Roxas City for the big festival there--there was this tall foreigner floating around doing video everywhere--so it was you! I was there for three weeks on an art residency. Sorry to hear about your marriage--c'est la vie!

Mike this was a real good video I like how you explore local businesses. My next road trip will be from Dumaguete to Roxas city at the end of February. Looking forward to see the city and meeting the locals.

Luv seeing the BTS (Behind the scene) of BANGUS and CHOCOLATE factories. Great content and narration, Michael!! ... Hello, Moe! ... Dr. Canlu is a visionary farmowner, and the same is true with the fishpond owner. ☕️ 👍🏻 🇵🇭

Really interesting to me. & maybe some of those milkfish/bangus I see stocking my fave small Asian groceries. Whatta journey they’ve undergone. I never realized. I don’t know much about specifics, but I’ve heard that with mammals they try to minimize the stress to the animal, coz the meat tastes better that way. Again I can’t say this with assurance, but I’ve heard that is one of the many reasons hunters want a clean kill shot. Also, the reason behind the design of slaughterhouse chutes & paths. I definitely read that some of such more humane & animal centric designs were originated by an autistic woman, a graduate of MIT : Temple Grandin. I read one of her books a long time ago, Thinking in Pictures, I think it was titled, & she described how she kinda got in the mind of the cattle. She believed her own mind works more similarly to animal minds. Anyways, these milk fish def are not unstressed! I am not criticizing, I am not vegetarian. It just came to my thoughts, I wonder if it affects taste? Personally, bangus is my fave Phil fish. So they still taste good to me! I haven’t tried many Phil species but we eat a lot of North American fish species & love seafood & bangus is up there in my top 3 favorites.

P.s. hey I’m not a kid & I LUV milk chocolate. I’ve grown more fond of dark chocolate too but it is an acquired taste for me. It is more good for us, so I try. But we’ve had lead toxicity warnings in dark chocolate preparations recently. I wud enjoy ordering the tabla drink (spelling) if they shipped overseas. That wud be so popular among my peeps….

    Michael,
    Awesome shirt, love it!
I love seeing any sort of food harvesting videos. They are so interesting and informative. I really love the harvesting of seafood videos. It would be cool to follow the fish to the market to see how they are sold to the vendors.
The chocolate cocoa bean processing is also so cool to see as well.
    Take care Brother.
BTW.... I think you will be successful on this channel. Keep it up. I see how much good content you're producing.👍

Not to be a killjoy joy but as a pinoy, it saddened me to see the condition of those ordinary workers. The issue of fish accidentally hitting people on the head can be prevented with the use of appropriate gear. I hope the government takes notice and initiates standardization of workplaces in the Philippines. If they fail to do so, regardless of the amount of infrastructure, businesses, or wealthy individuals we produce, we will still be regarded as a third-world country due to the way the average working-class Filipinos are being treated.

Yes more and more standards are starting to show up, it not just setting up the standards but the large government department needed to enforce the compliance across the country of 7000 islands that would be needed. To be honest when that day comes they will automate the jobs away by then
