    the second hit with the slightly diluted shampoo was interesting as hell, great video and great tip 🤘🏽🐿️💨

      I'm hoping to find the least amount of water to cut viscosity. The other route was trying to up the size of the orifice... maybe buy some more tips and use a very small carbide micro drill since I have access to CNC machines and a full inspection lab. I measured the aqua tip at 0.022"... the purple tip at 0.019"... and the pink at 0.017" - I have 1 mm drills on hand (0.039") - I think that might be too big of a jump. It would be nice to increase by 0.003-0.005" steps. Maybe that will be a good project for 2025!

    Thanks for doing all the testing 🙌
    I had been wondering, for some time, if viscosity affected the flow of the soap out of the cannon, and it looks like it does! Thanks again!
    Now the next question is, how does pre-diluting the soap affect the pH of what ends up on the panel.

      @AMI_Detail  Місяць тому

      Crazy thing is that I'm finding myself viewing things based on PIR. Since the ultimate dilution on the panel is what matters, adding any water through pre-diluting would just need to be factored into the total output. In this example, I added 0.5 oz (15 ml) of water to 1 oz (30 ml) of GFX. Let's extrapolate that to a full foam cannon - I'm ballparking here... 150 ml water to 300 ml GFX... 300 ml water to 600 ml GFX. I measured my total output to be 13250 ml with the Griot's BOSS - 1.25 orifice - Dual Ryobi 1800's. That total wouldn't change, so I am calculating 600 / 13250 to give me 0.045 or 4.5%. Based on that, I would say that the pre-dilution would not hurt the performance as there is still way more product than what would be normally mixed as 100 ml GFX with 900 ml Water in a standard dilution foam cannon. The 100 ml that I have seen referenced for GSF and GFX would be a TARGETED 1% PIR. This is definitely something that would be good to know. I'll pose this question to some of the differnt soap suppliers. Maybe they would be willing to offer some insight.

      OK... I'm second guessing my calculation. I think it's one of those percentage of a percentage situations. I'll try some other calculations.

    • @AMI_Detail
      @AMI_Detail  Місяць тому

      OK... I think I've got it. Since the new mixture has 66% soap, the new PIR would be 0.66 X 0.0213 = 0.014. The metering tip would still be syphoning at 2.13% (my measured PIR for the Aqua tip with the adjustment knob at the max setting). Since there is only 66% GFX in the pre-diluted bottle to cut the viscosity, then there would only be 66% hitting the panel. So... (jeez, I even do it when I'm typing) the actual PIR would be 1.4%. That seems right to me and looks right based on the foam production... not all the way to 2.0%, but still better than having the metering tip choking out and not drawing enough soap to foam effectively.

    i’ve been reusing the diy detail bottles too lol, the labels just peel off so cleanly …..i’ve got the boss cannon and now the new mjjc cannon on the way. i think i’ll keep extra bottles around with ready to use dilutions, one for apc, shampoo, quick beads or a foam on protection…i can mix them up the night before wash or detail and be ready to rock
    i tried using the metering tips in straight shampoo but it’s kind of a hassle and really messy for those of us who like to clean their foam cannons right away

      I'm anxious to see how the MJJC Pro v3.0 foams. It's cool that they added the 28mm connection point to be able to mount the product bottles. Keep collecting those empty bottles... the DIY Detail ones are extra cool as you get to see the different colors of products and the pick-up tube doing it's thang!
      I use the other DIY Detail bottle filled with straight water. I just unscrew the straight shampoo bottle and then go directly into the water bottle. This cleans off the tube and by running the straight water through the system, it cleans out the pick-up tube and internal filters. I think it helps to run it through until it's just water coming out of the foam cannon and then I open the adjustment knob to let it suck some air and run it some more. When I'm all done, I "back-flush" by opening the spray pattern to the widest setting and running water through from the nozzle end.

      @@AMI_Detail yes’r i like just having a measuring cup or an old protein shaker cup full of water ready to just dip the pick up tube in to flush out the cannon. i can’t fathom leaving my cannons dirty overnight or a couple of days before i clean them to use them again. i cringed just typing that out
      for the mjjc pro v3.0 i believe it’s going to foam like a champ, i’m wondering about the product usage when foaming a bottle of straight shampoo out of the 28mm inlet of the cannon. without a metering tip will it just use the shampoo just as much as it would from the dilution canister??? if i had to guess i’d say that the “usage” of product would solely depend on how viscous the shampoo is, but i can’t wait to test it out! ✌🏽🐿️💨

    Hey Ami.. if you were covering the whole car, how many mils of product do you think you'd use compared to using a prediluted mix.

    • @AMI_Detail
      @AMI_Detail  Місяць тому

      @RossT551 I am guessing it would be around 100ml. The 2% PIR that the Aqua tip outputs is equal to mixing 200ml with 800ml in a full foam cannon. If you are using straight GFX/GSF, it's thickness makes where you have to keep the adjustment knob at the max setting. Since it isn't drawing as well, it would be pulling less soap, this is why I estimate it would be around 100ml.
      The interesting thing in this video is you can pre-dilute at a 1:2 ratio (1 part water, 2 parts GFX) and you will get better foam and with the dilution, still use around the same 100ml of GFX to cover the whole vehicle.

      @@AMI_Detail Thanks for the reply. I do find that quite interesting. If you were to make a prediluted mix, not using the metering tips would you use 100ml of product? I currently use 30ml of Carpro Reset in 500ml of water and it I can cover my car, (VW Golf R), in a nice layer of foam. Using MJJC Pro v2

      I used Built-Hamber Touch-less for the first time this morning. Since the recommended PIR is 2%, I simply used the aqua metering tip and adjustment knob set to maximum. The viscosity is less than GSF/GFX, so there was no issue. It foamed awesome, cleaned awesome, with only 50 ml of product used to completely cover all of my Bronco Sport.

      I had to look that one up... Thanks! It's also fun to piece together who's who... X6MGhost! Some say he has a fiber connection directly into his keyboard... Some say he may have telepathic abilities... Some say _____. All I can say is YOU ROCK at getting the right answer WAY quick! I did manage to beat you to Jamie's NXTZEN 365PRO give-away when he was interviewing Bruce from Bruce's Garage. I might have had a home-country advantage as I abbreviated the 3 states that Bruce had lived in while you typed them out. Still the right answer, but those extra letters made all the difference! I sub'ed you back, BTW. Love to see more of that Bimmer.
