@@WoodleyConcertBand Can you tell me about your group? Are you an auditioned group? Primarily indoor performances? any parades? How long has your group been around? I direct a small community band in Maine, USA. I am always interested in other community groups. I really enjoy your playing. :)
Hi @@davec.486. We're a community band with about 40 members, established in 1974. We ask members to be the equivalent of at least a (UK) Grade 6 standard, and have an informal audition process with new members coming along to try us out for a few weeks (and for us to have a chance to hear them play). In a usual year (so not 2020!), we give about 20 performances. In addition to 3 formal concerts (like the one above), we play at fetes and bandstands, formal events (such as an annual Service of Remembrance) and do quite a few Christmas performances too. No parades (we don't march!), though our fair share of outdoor gigs, come rain (under cover!) or shine. We've got a full biog on our website at www.woodleyconcertband.org.uk/about-us/. This year, with Coronavirus preventing rehearsals and concerts, we've prepared quite a few virtual performances - there's a full playlist at ua-cam.com/video/r-bmB1RFoMw/v-deo.html Thanks for your interest!
Well done. My current concert band will be performing this piece in June. My high school also played it in the late 1960s.
Thanks Russell! It's amazing how long some of these 'classic' arrangements stay in the repertoire! Good luck with your performance in June!
Excellent!!! I loved your performance! Great blend and balance throughout. Your band plays with great technical precision and expression!! Bravo!!
Thanks so much David - we really appreciate your kind words!
