    Congestion pricing is a absolute disaster and horrible situation the average driver would have to pay $650-$700 a month to go into Manhattan that's insane Manhattan business will be hit hard companies doctors a lot this is Greed this is horrible this is a hard hit to drivers what's wrong with this situation why is the MTA only cleaning the air and traffic in the richest part of nyc??? Lol, driving to Manhattan on a regular basis already costs a fortune. It’s not like that’s new. You already pay like $15 for the tunnel and $25-$40 to park for day. So it’s not like the working guy regularly commutes by car as it is. Rich guys in finance do, but not working stiffs.

    Bad policies that affect the community and its people. But benefits the elite. The cost will be passed on to the consumer's. A poorly runned city. We all have to vote better and stop getting caught up with hype. Everyone gets affected. Allthe bridges above 60 street and the bronx are going to be congested starting July 1, 2024. Expect major delays Throughout moving forward. Once the congestion begins above the 60th street line they will move forward to expand the congestion pricing. Slick move from the city and mta to start charging $15.00.

    I lived in Taipei for a few years and mass transit was NEVER late, extremely affordable (you could get from one end of town to the other for around a $1 and go to a city one hour away for a few dollars) clean and SAFE. Living in NJ, it costs me around $25 roundtrip plus $7 parking to get into the city. So over $50 to go spend the day in the city with my spouse... so even though I grew up there and would love to go often, I never go. It's not worth it. If it was actually affordable, like $5 or something, I'd go all the time! I'd spend my money eating at restaurants, walking around and going to museums... but it's just not feasible so I go once a year or even less. It's sad.

      Every city is different. NYC has 472 subway stops. So if you wanted to spent time in the city, you could’ve moved to the city. Or near a path station stop in NJ. Or near a NJ Transit stop. Or in Long Island near the LIRR. Or Westchester near the Metro North. But instead, you moved to a place where you apparently can only drive into Manhattan. No offense, but that was a choice.

      @damnjustassignmeone What a dumb comment. You do realize that not everyone can live near a train station you know because there may not be housing available. NYC is in a housing crisis because of high rents and demand. People who live outside the city do so because it may be cheaper or they just can't find an affordable place in the city.

Why don’t they just banned all vehicles going into the zone except for delivery, vehicle transport people that need special care and provide free buses for the rest. • @stelity

      I was thinking the same until I saw that the MTA is offering exclusions and it includes ride hauling services such as uber and lyft... those vehicles make up the majority of vehicles I see on the road... so that isn't going to help with congestion.

    • @thezenarcher
      @thezenarcher 10 днів тому

      @@stelity rather than a once daily $15 toll, uber and lyft vehicles pay $2.50 per trip into the zone. So if they serve more than 6 fares across the boundary in a day, they will pay even more than most vehicles. And at least they don't need to cruise around looking for parking. They did this because the decision where a rideshare vehicle goes is up to the customer (who is also the one paying the $2.50 fee), and it's difficult to track how many times an individual uber/lyft or taxi rider has entered the zone (hence why the flat $15/day fee is not applied). I'm not 100% in favor of this particular policy, but I can understand the logic.

    • @stelity
      @stelity 10 днів тому

      @@thezenarcher Please don't spread misinformation. It's not a one-day-pass to enter unlimited times for personal vehicles that pay $15.You get the same thing whether you pay $2.50 or $15. Ride hauling cars are the ones causing the congestion. They are given discounts so they continue to cause congestion.
