I used to have “fat guy”. His name is actually farting fatty, and he was created by NightScream studios in 2011. Unit70 studios later bought the mold, and have made static versions ever since.
Do you know if he was ever in the Gatlinburg TN Ripleys Haunted Adventure back in 2000 or so when they very first opened? This is like a core memory from my childhood of either this very same animatronic or something very, very similar. It would of been located in the same room that they have the animatronic that throws up in the barrel
Fun Facts for you: Laffing (correct spelling) Sal's voice was recorded by a man, not a woman. There was also a male version of the figure called Laffing Sam, meant to be Sal's husband, as well as a third figure, Blackie the Barker. They were all produced by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company, best known for its exquisite hand-carved carousels.
honestly loved this video's narration! it felt more cohesive having "walt" narrate the entire time rather than just splicing in to comment. will is a great narrator and he suits walt so well
@@sarahchristensen5991 Haha that’s funny! Just saw your comment as well, which was nearly the same thing, though with the proper name!. That’s awesome you work there!
The lack of any kind of facial movement or lines just way too smooth skin and dead eyes... Just the mouths moving. Its like they had way too much botox.
I’ve actually seen one of the Laffin’ Sal animatronics in person. It was the one at Kennywood, which I noticed makes a brief appearance in the video. I think the historic significance of it was that, during the Great Depression, they were used to try and cheer people up with laughter. Whether or not it ever worked remains to be seen. Also, can’t say I’m too happy with your views on clowns.
Walt, even though the animatronics you show us are both scary and fascinating, your voice is soothing and I like taking a nap while listening to you talk about them! Keep up with good work you plucky ducky! ❤🦆
I did see that fat guy animatronic in person in the “Blood on the Bayou” maze at Dorney Park in 2017, it was accompanied by some very intense smells as well
That human flesh die is CRAZY. I've never seen anything like it! It looks like something out of a weird 70's horror movie that had Screaming Mad George involved.
If they didn't look like they had zero emotions while singing what sounded like fairly upbeat music, they wouldn't be as creepy for me. I do like how well-dressed they were!
A fun fact about Laffin Sal, there was one model that was in an amusment park ride called "Laff in the dark" and a lot of kids and adults felt an eerie presence when seeing her during the ride, one day there was a movie shooting inside the Laff in the dark ride, as one of the workers were moving Sal, her arm fell off and they found a bone inside, there was an entire body inside Laffin Sal and the body was identified to be Elmer Mccurdy
I don't really find the gospel group creepy tbh, it's not actually unique either, it's just an animatronic that isn't as updated, most of the animatronics from that time look like that. You find it creepy because you're used to more expensive and modern animatronics.
I see my comment made it into your video :) Love ghostie Walt btw While I still think the Wizbangs are creepy, I now have a newfound appreciation for them. I think the original anamatronics look fine but seeing them a bit run down is where the creep factor comes in
If you do ever make it to the Earthquake ride in Gatlinburg TN, I would suggest checking out the 2 year round haunted attractions. The first is Mysterious Mansion, a classic turn of the century style haunted house, looks like it's straight out of The Minsters or The Addams family, did have some animatronics last time I went thru, but that's been years ago, beware the 4th floor balconey, I'll speak of that no more 😜🎃 The other is Ripley's Haunted Attraction, which was loaded with animatronics the last time I went thru, still should be today, both are fun! 👻
7:04 Also Some Facts for the Wizbangs! the original location for the Cec Cyberamics in Orlando was in Lee Road and was rumored they were retrofitted to the Wizbangs In 1985 and later in the mid 90s they added some upgrades to them with plastic masks and plastic hands cuz the foam for them was either getting rusty or dirty at times (And if your also wondering how wizzy plays the guitar if it was a munch mech? Cuz The cybers shoulder brackets arms to be screwed in Different Positions Btw)
I'm heartbroken that the dinosaur ride at Disney is going to close... I went on that ride when I was 7, the first and only time I've ever been to Disneyworld...that ride was the highlight of my visit there. So sad I'll never get the chance to go back 😞
My parents met at, what was once Euclid Beach (amusement) Park in Ohio. In 1958 when my mother was almost 18, my father 22, and he was the Rotor operator. She rode the ride and split her pants from the force of it, so he had to take her to the 'infirmary' to get a safety pin. My mother told me this story when I was in my early 20s, and also told me about the park having 'Laffing Sal'. She said she was terrified of it. I never knew just how freaky it did look, until she showed a picture of her to me. Fast forward to the age of the internet, and I saw Sal online for MY first time, yeah I totally agreed with her, she CAN be terrifying 😳
Laffin' Sal! I loved going to see her at Kennywood, every time they'd raze the ride she was located at, they eventually brought her back in a new location. The clip in this video was kind of old, they've since fixed her limp right arm. I hope she's still there today.
15:54 GLEN/GLENDA MY BELOVED!!!!! (Also the Bride of Chucky reference at 17:30!) My friend and I watched the movies together a few years ago, so I love seeing them brought to life like this!
I got to see Laffin Sal at the Santa Cruz boardwalk when I was about 12 when visiting family in Cali. She and the local Chuck E cheese are the reason for my animatronic/theme park/FNAF hyperfixation.
The gospel quartet are the equivalent of A-100 figures that barely move. They need to be completely reworked, the faces are terrible. Gospel music tends to be movement heavy and you get none of that. The hair, I give props as it actually looks pretty good. My guess is the gospel singers are barely generation 1 animatronics. They need to be at least A-1000 figures to be good. I think they are also old fluid hydraulics animatronics as you get that slow movement. New animatronics have electronic servos that replace hydraulics all together, it creates a much more dynamic movement and better control.
I know a place called Sing Sang`s Tacos with an animatronic band I think it opened in the early 1970s but back then I heard they where like a circus and it closed somewhere in the 2010s and I loved that place but for some reason it’s complete lost media and I try to revive it
10:11 I've been there before some time ago! I got to see the animatronics at a big distance, the constant audio is both annoying and disturbing and I never went near it. Some day I might go back to actually get a better view since I've recovered some of my animatronic fears.

I think there is a laffin Sal along side a Laffin Sam at a year round costume shop called Caulfields Novelty in Louisville KY along with a full dungeon of Horror animatronics that you can walk through.
There was one similar to Sal at Seabreeze park named gigging Gertie they used to sit on top of the goofy house, that was totaled when a fire broke out.
Clowns! Where's that emote? Kidding. I use to have major Coulrophobia (phobia of clowns) because I saw poltergeist when I was 3 (and owned the clown doll shown in the film). I've mostly gotten over it, but occasionally the fear still hits me.
