I remember when I was in high school, I was mostly with the Asians (specifically Filipinos) and the B-Boys when it came to high school groups. I remember at lunch, I would either be practicing my breaking moves with the bboys in the multi purpose room or be with a few of my Filipino buddies in a classroom or library and just share good laughs with them. Good times that I really miss about high school.
As a member of the “underbelt” group from Alabama I can safely say you hit the nail on the head. The only difference between the “underbelts” from Alabama and from the other states is that the ones from Alabama are more chill. Kentucky underbelts are fucking crazy no cap. I used to be a quiet kid, I was actually just depressed an anxious. I still am but I can actually talk to people now, too an extent. Sometimes I physically cannot still but we’re getting there. Most of us don’t have violent urges. In my personal experience it was always the loud kids that were the most violent. I’ve met two people who’s negativity hit like a freight train. They were both loud people. One tortured animals and caused emotional distress for people who were unable to speak up for themselves. The other had no regard for other people.

In those days, I was a mix of the chill smart kid and a nerd, who was dead-set on enlisting in the military. Now, here I am nine years later: a six year successful military career behind me, four years married, and going to earn my MA and working in that same academic field!

During senior year I realized it was just better to become an npc. Being known and talking everyone in the school just causes way to much problems and gets you into too much drama . Either that or it almost always requires you to get into bad habits like drinking, smoking, ect. Overall it’s just much better to be on the sidelines in school. I still talked to people ofc , but just nowhere near as much as before covid .
I was a quiet kid, my anxiety was bad still pretty bad, but not as bad as high school. Most of us just want to talk about our weird interest but don't know how to have a normal conversation.
I used to be the quiet kid who was super terrible in social situations but I’ve managed to pull a full 180 and now popular because during Covid there was nothing to do but but think so the complete isolation helped me to come to terms with myself and start improving. Trying to get better at socially is crushing because it feels like you’re not improving even when you are because it’s so gradual but generally if you keep trying within a few years you’ll see some change
As a country boy who played football and was quiet but friends with everyone I’d say me and my friend group were chill with all the other ones never had issues but also always put up the most weight in the gym so people respected that

At my school, we have: Popular Kids: Two friend groups, one comprised of boys and the other of girls, but they tend to mix. They’ve all dated each other multiple times. They all are on the same sports team, are hyper competitive, and are typically rude to nerdy kids. Emo-Popular Kids: They’re emo, extremely toxic, and you really want to distance yourself from them as much as you can. They act friendly but they are disgusting people. They love to spread rumors and gossip. It’s the only thing they know how to do. They take advantage of new kids all the time. Normal Kids (my clique): Just within their friend groups. The girls tend to be targets for popular boys for dating. They have friends in popular friend groups and would be popular if they played on their sports teams. Most of a bit rude. Nerds: Smart kids, geeks, nerds, all just called the same thing. They are looked down on, if you hang out with them you’re immediately seen as weird. They are bullied and laughed at all the time. Most of them are obsessed with school and don’t have any other personality. I tend to hide my scores as I would be considered one of them because of my straight A’s. Emos: Really weird kids who don’t talk to anyone, they just hide with their phones in all black when it’s 100 degrees.
As a goth/emo kid most of us are pretty chill and nice to be around. I haven't met much rude goth kids. And you don't have to be depressed to be goth, neither do you have to be always moody. 👍 Edit: much likes wowowowowow

What I had in my school was "fake hood kids", which were the country kids trying too hard to act like they're from the streets. I lived in the middle of nowhere. I also saw the hot cheeto girls, basic girls, alot of people who have no access to the internet (I mean, we did live in the middle of nowhere.), sadly no goths except for me if you count a 'discount comfy goth' as one of them, I was also in that smart kid bubble too, well that's because my high school was too poor to have higher education so it made me look like Einstein compared to everyone else.
as an american in a korean international school, this it crazy interesting. we only have 2 groups, the smart kids and the foreigners. everyone applies for ivy league and they all go to afterschool classes. thats it, thats international school life

I was shy growing up and at one point realized, that I was okay being alone in the corner. I grew out of my shy phase a bit but still didn’t really talk to people I didn’t know and I was lumped in with the quiet kids. I have no idea why but even the teachers thought there was something weird about me. In reality I found the work easy and didn’t see a point in talking to people I didn’t know too well, and would honestly rather be home playing video games or sleeping. The thing is… I was a skinny girl who did track and talked in front of people I knew well. I have no idea why people thought I had any bad intentions or lists because I was the least threatening person you could ever see. Can there be a category for us shy ones who just don’t like to put themselves out there unless they know the people. We are always lumped in with another group when we are just slightly less talkative npcs..
I've had this. I'm capable to conversate with people I know, but I'm willingly complacent and not talkative to people I just have no particular interest to get to know. Because of that, people higher-up in tangible power-structures are noticably subtly skeptical of me in their assessments of me in what minor conversations we do have. So I know there's an unease with me, and from that I wouldn't doubt there's questioning of my, "Ulterior motives". When given a prerogative, I'm golden to initiate conversation, but otherwise, I'm fine with leaving things at small-talk. Especially when I feel I'm not afforded goodwill to not be looked-at as a suspect for an undetermined "crime".
I relate to this a lot. I identify as an in between the smart kids (the chill ones) and a suppressed nerd. Girls talking to you isn’t hard. They ask you sometimes to help with a group project, or you’d help them on a quiz and come in clutch. If you’re really close to them you might ‘review’ work together. Also, smart girls are really fine. A solid perk for being smart.

For types of groups you should do floaters. These are the people who are in every group somehow but manage to be chill with everyone and you wonder how they are in every group. Basically ambassadors for every group with knowledge of how each group acts

ever since like 6th grade i was the type of person that was so scared to talk to other people, but I was even more scared to not have friends so I basically forced myself out of my shell to make friends but outside of them I couldn't hold a conversation with anyone really. I think I'm getting a lot better now, I'm able to speak up in class and in group projects and I can make conversation with others now lmao
I was definitely a quiet kid in highschool, still am at University. Although I am starting to come out of my shell, trying to be more confident around people, focusing on myself more rather than blending in.
I think the best friend group you can be part of of which you didn't talk about is the gym bros group. They're just so supportive of everyone, no drama, no waste of time, no bs, just pure hard work. Doesn't matter if you're fat or skinny, as long as you're putting on the effort they're gonna support you and help you.
The “country boys” stereotype is only in really rural areas from my experience. I went to a Christian summer camp in rural Nebraska and I saw that stereotype but on a way more chill level. They made jokes but didn’t actively engage in the stereotypical activities.
One time, some kids in late middle school were messing with me, so I got a little angry and one of ‘‘em started yelling “the NPC is in attack mode!” Or some stupid stuff, and I didn’t even understand. I was just about the most not npc person in that entire damn school and they over here acting like I’m programmed? I’m glad I go to online school now, people are nuts
I’m at a community college (scholarship for one of the best in the nation), and over 50% of the people there are regular people. There are still basic white girls, weird kids, kids with colored hair, etc. the majority of the people at my college are regular people. All the hot Cheetos girls from my HS, gone. White girls: expensive far away-ville university. Jocks: same as the girls. Etc.

There is a kid at my school that everyone knows, his name is Bradley. Hes the type to remind the teacher about the homework and complain about his straight A report card. he once had a 3 paragraph introduction to an essay and said that, "Its not that long." He chimes in on peoples conversations and starts off by saying, "matter of fact" to explain how something works.
It’s cool that he seems decently smart, but he also seems like the type to try and make it seem that way as well to show off. I have fun writing essays and take pride from it, but a three paragraph essay is something even a teacher would probably be a bit annoyed by as it’s just more work for them, lol Plus, if you are going to start an introduction like that, the essay is already going in a bad direction as that’s just removing the attention grabber and everything that makes people actually interested.

During senior year I realized it was just better to become an npc. Being known and talking everyone in the school just causes way to much problems and gets you into too much drama . Either that or it almost always requires you to get into bad habits like drinking, smoking, ect. Overall it’s just much better to be on the sidelines in school. I still talked to people ofc , but just nowhere near as much as before covid .

I used to be the quiet kid who was super terrible in social situations but I’ve managed to pull a full 180 and now popular because during Covid there was nothing to do but but think so the complete isolation helped me to come to terms with myself and start improving. Trying to get better at socially is crushing because it feels like you’re not improving even when you are because it’s so gradual but generally if you keep trying within a few years you’ll see some change

At my school, we have:
Popular Kids: Two friend groups, one comprised of boys and the other of girls, but they tend to mix. They’ve all dated each other multiple times. They all are on the same sports team, are hyper competitive, and are typically rude to nerdy kids.
Emo-Popular Kids: They’re emo, extremely toxic, and you really want to distance yourself from them as much as you can. They act friendly but they are disgusting people. They love to spread rumors and gossip. It’s the only thing they know how to do. They take advantage of new kids all the time.
Normal Kids (my clique): Just within their friend groups. The girls tend to be targets for popular boys for dating. They have friends in popular friend groups and would be popular if they played on their sports teams. Most of a bit rude.
Nerds: Smart kids, geeks, nerds, all just called the same thing. They are looked down on, if you hang out with them you’re immediately seen as weird. They are bullied and laughed at all the time. Most of them are obsessed with school and don’t have any other personality. I tend to hide my scores as I would be considered one of them because of my straight A’s.
Emos: Really weird kids who don’t talk to anyone, they just hide with their phones in all black when it’s 100 degrees.
As a goth/emo kid most of us are pretty chill and nice to be around. I haven't met much rude goth kids. And you don't have to be depressed to be goth, neither do you have to be always moody. 👍

What I had in my school was "fake hood kids", which were the country kids trying too hard to act like they're from the streets. I lived in the middle of nowhere. I also saw the hot cheeto girls, basic girls, alot of people who have no access to the internet (I mean, we did live in the middle of nowhere.), sadly no goths except for me if you count a 'discount comfy goth' as one of them, I was also in that smart kid bubble too, well that's because my high school was too poor to have higher education so it made me look like Einstein compared to everyone else.
In all of these group videos, I was always like damn none of these apply to me but I feel very represented by the NPCs lol

I was shy growing up and at one point realized, that I was okay being alone in the corner. I grew out of my shy phase a bit but still didn’t really talk to people I didn’t know and I was lumped in with the quiet kids. I have no idea why but even the teachers thought there was something weird about me. In reality I found the work easy and didn’t see a point in talking to people I didn’t know too well, and would honestly rather be home playing video games or sleeping. The thing is… I was a skinny girl who did track and talked in front of people I knew well. I have no idea why people thought I had any bad intentions or lists because I was the least threatening person you could ever see. Can there be a category for us shy ones who just don’t like to put themselves out there unless they know the people. We are always lumped in with another group when we are just slightly less talkative npcs..

I'm capable to conversate with people I know, but I'm willingly complacent and not talkative to people I just have no particular interest to get to know.
Because of that, people higher-up in tangible power-structures are noticably subtly skeptical of me in their assessments of me in what minor conversations we do have.
So I know there's an unease with me, and from that I wouldn't doubt there's questioning of my, "Ulterior motives".
When given a prerogative, I'm golden to initiate conversation, but otherwise, I'm fine with leaving things at small-talk.
Especially when I feel I'm not afforded goodwill to not be looked-at as a suspect for an undetermined "crime".

For types of groups you should do floaters. These are the people who are in every group somehow but manage to be chill with everyone and you wonder how they are in every group. Basically ambassadors for every group with knowledge of how each group acts
