We did this in Nov of 2023. We actually decided to camp in that wash you got sidetracked in. We knew there was no rain in the forecast and so we day hiked down to the LCR the following day, so we had lighter packs and then had less to hike back out with our full packs. FYI, if you stand on the helipad and face the LCR there is a filterable stream to the right down the slope. It's still brackish but less than filtering the LCR. Amazing hike but definitely need to have hiking and scrambling experience and be in good physical shape. Nice video
@@paulsolomon1396 thank you so much! If I go again I will find that stream! Thank you for telling me the location because I was going in the ring direction and so worn out after I just wanted to sleep. This gives me so more hope. Really appreciate it! Glad you were able to do this as well. Such an epic to experience!
@@SuperMeiMei I would say yes if you are used to driving on dirt roads with it. I didn’t have many issues at all. Just a longgggg drive on dirt roads. Now keep in mind if it’s been raining a lot or has since June then the road could be washed out in some areas or worse. I’m not 100% sure so look up to see how often they grade the roads and see if anyone else has gone more recently to the trail. Hope this helps.
Haven't done this yet but plan to soon. I'd guess it very much like doing Flat Iron in the Superstition mountains? Isn't there a fresh water spring down there as well you can filter water from?
I’m not familiar with the Superstition Mountains. They sounds really awesome though. There is a fresh water spring down there or creek. It is north of the helo pad.
It's a gamble really. The more rain there is in the region when you go the waters will be muddy. The less rain there is or no rain, the waters will stay blue. Look at the news for Havasu Falls right now. There were torrential rains causing the waters to flow muddy and flood. When there is no rain itll stay nice and blue. Same will apply for the Little Colorado. Plan carefully or just take a gander and enjoy the hike, if you love hiking.
@@bigacefilms Thank you. I love hiking, but that is a death march. People really need to be cautious on this one. I am experienced enough to do it, but the only way I will is when that water is blue for great photographs.
In 2023 unfortunately we turned around in about 3/4 way down. Too late start and the heat was brutal, plus not prepared mentally. We slept in the canyon. Will try again! Great video!!!
I will say that is quite the journey to make it that far. It's hard to start at a decent time unless you're up at 3am and drive to the location to be there at 5 or 6am. Must have been pretty still in the canyon. Good Luck when you go again! I hope to do this as well one last time.
Beautifully filmed. Stunning canyon.
@@buddylove8140 thank you so much! I really appreciate the kind words! 😇

Love the hike👍👍👍👍it’s a good one‼️
Thank you!🙌🙌😇
Nice video. I have made this hike in May this year. The hike out was just the hardest day of my life 😂
That is a fact!! Glad you may it out alive haha!
😂😂why did you have to add part where I almost give up
I just wanted to show everyone what it’s really like 😇😇
You were a great buddy and made the video enjoyable!
This is an extremely difficult hike. The fact that you did it is an accomplishment!!
Great job! I’m thinking about doing this trail in November! Is the road to the trailhead accessible for a passenger car? Thanks!

@@bigacefilms thanks! That’s super helpful!!
Isn't there decent filterable water via springs that feed into the LCR or at the Emerald Pool about a half mile upstream?
@@n0dedotorg yes there is but we were too exhausted to really look and expend any more energy. We didn’t know exactly where they were until after

How do you know when the water turns blue? What did you mean by rain runoff? You want little rain or a lot of rain?

Great!!! How long you walk to the water?
It took us roughly about 4 hours. Being a new trail and not being used to the elevation slowed us down a bit. And the rock cairns.
