Thank you so much. I have been specializing in singing Turkish ilahis , one makam a month at music sessions. To have a starter like this on the makams is so good. Best wishes.
Thank you so much for this. For months I've been playing Nihavend on F#. By starting on D it now SOUNDS like Nihavend. This video has been like a revelation.
Once again chok tesheykurler. This month, February I am performing only ilahis in the Nihavend makam. The urge to compose kasides is growing and so taking cues from your valuable lesson and using my solid background in classical Indian music inshallah I hope to work on the first one. Nimetler
I've been a follower of your guitar lessons for quite some time, have been playing oud since 2 weeks aswel, tuned it to DGBead, this is the first makam I'm learning. Thanks a bunch man. Do you have any listening tips regarding turkish makam music?
You could modulate to any number of makams on A, huseyni, saba, or hijaz, and then come back to Nihavend. If you modulate to Kurdi you don't even have to change the notes at all. I would suggest just listen a lot and then try to replay the things you here..

Thanks. In general you can transpose makams but they also all have a standard position. And yeah it definitely changes the resonance etc.

p.s. would there be a makam in A (5th) that would contrast/combine nicely with Nihavend? Or would this be a simplified way of approaching makam music
