  • The beautiful scenic highway was named after Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce. He led the tribe out of Yellowstone National Park and into Montana in 1877 during their attempt to outrun the U.S. Cavalry and escape into Canada. For more information about this famous flight of the Nez Perce see the National Park Service article: www.nps.gov/nepe/learn/historyculture/1877.htm
My entire trip of about 46 miles from the intersection with Highway 120, 17 miles north of Cody, Wyoming, to the intersection with the Beartooth Highway (Hwy 212) is in the video. So feel free to fast forward anytime. But the drive is great!
And pause the video to read all the info on interpretive signs if desired.
A particularly interesting scenic view site in my video is that at the Sunlight Creek Bridge, the highest bridge in Wyoming. The steel beam bridge has pedestrian walkways on each side of the bridge over the 285-foot Sunlight Gorge carved by Sunlight Creek. The bridge was built in 1985.

These 3 road trips have brought back some good memories of our family vacations back in the mid '80's. Very nice. Been following since our tour of the "Custer House" with you. Paul
