Would u consider this boot good choice for Deep Thinker 2019 model with cartel X bindings ? Also how u compare stiffnes and response vs Ion on scale 1-10 Good and honest reviews , watching u daily 😊
Thanks! The Cartel X and Photon is a good combo for a deep thinker. The DT turns very fast so it doesn't need a lot of boot and binding. I would say the Photon out of the box is about a 6 and the Ion about an 8. They both soften up a good bit after about 20-30 days. If you want something to retain it's flex longer look at the Kendo and SLX. The Kendo is about a 6 too but doesn't loose it's flex. The SLX about a 7 and that keeps it's flex a long time too. It's just massively expensive and not as long lasting as it used to be.
Interesting you said it was too narrow, I heard the step ons are slightly wider (at least in the toes) vs. the original boot (not sure if it's true). Assuming it's a lot narrower than theBurton Ion Step On? (Also, they make the photon in a wide)
Yes it was but felt narrower between where the toes start to before my ankle. Since this review I got Photon wides and they ate much better for my E width feet. I also just recently compared Kendo Step on 2023's to my reg 2023 Kendo's and they feel almost exactly the same. So maybe it was something with my 2021's. One other thing is the ankle are of the 2022 and 2023 imprint 3 liners seem to have much more pronounced j-bars. They really are causing pain for me. Never happened before in 20+ years of riding Burton boots. Not having the same issues with the life ride liners from 2022 or my wide imprint 3 liner. Planning to update the reviews but it might be a while before I do so that's what I know now vs. 2021.
@@thegoodridesnow Thanks for the response! Glad to hear you checked out the photon wides and like them, i wish they'd make more wide boots. If you're having trouble with the jbars in the liner, have you tried an intuition liner?
Well they fit. I wouldn't use them as my daily drivers. Yes I tried 5 different Intuition liners but none fit well in Burton boots. Just using my Photon Wide liners in my Kendo's but going to use another boot as my daily driver. Need something that works out of the box for me so it's more like what the reader will feel too.
Just got these and paired it with my Capita Navigator. Can't wait to try it this weekend!
Hope it went well for ya.
