how is it possible that this channel produces some of the most entertaining and high quality content for bikeers and the the average youtuber on their journey through the web. these guys are CRIMINALLY under appreciated. I aspire to make content like this
Helps that a retailer is bankrolling this. They don't have to worry as much about getting ad revenue and they can put a lot more effort into the video quality than the average UA-camr.
Trained cinematographer, editor, researcher, lawyer, marketing/money finder, and presenter, all savvy at what they do. And the content is nothing short of life saving. Good work. Canadians are, in general, habitually underestimated. Especially by us Americans.
The music choices in your videos is beyond expert level. Every video is a masterpiece of art.

Tip for seats. Use a garment steamer on the foam after you take the old cover off. Will puff the foam out to like new. Also plastic or silicone splay on the foam before you wrap the seat will help the fabric slide as you pull it. Love the videos, keep up the great work!!

@@walkaway6353 My buddys the Twantick brothers down the street had the 77 and the 78 yz 80. I had a 79 kx 80. 12 years old surrounded by endless badass places to ride in East Tucson.
I had a YZ60, then got the YZ80, then got a XR500.
@@heartsky LOL thats a jump...I had the XR600. Man I miss that bike. I took my kid's for a ride one time just so they could say they road with daddy at 100+ mph on a dirt road. They could look at the digital spedo and see.
When the yz 80 came out I was racing the YZ125 and used the 80 for a pit bike. While waiting for the new ZX that was back ordered , HONDA asked me to try the CR125. I got the 1st CR125 on the east coast. I smoked the ZX's LOL. I canceled the order on the new ZX and the rest was history.
I was one of the first to race in the "super dome" when it was first built. I rode with Gary Bailey and have pictures of his son as a boy.

Some really good tips there ! I'd seriously consider wearing safety glasses or a shield when spraying the contact cleaner. I've seen a mechanic at a Kawie shop drop a small swarm of yellow jackets with that stuff mid flight. It was like they hit a wall, no wriggling just pssst and straight to the floor.
My Dad owned a YZ-80. It’s great to see the simularities of them and what they looked like. Them twin springs though!
I don't think there is a comparable motorcylce youtube channel out there. Such high quality videos.
I'm not going to lie, I don't always appreciate the aesthetic of your videos (not that I don't respect it, they're all well made. The content within them is always ace too), but that just makes me want to say that this video is pretty much 10/10 at every conceivable point. Really outdid yourselves with this one, I think. I love taking old and making it look new, especially when you can use a little elbow grease and a few days to do it, and still keep the factory parts and pieces. Good job.

A small tip for anyone, i learned from an old mechanic, use a bit of gasoline when applying handlebar grips, the fuel dries out quick, and sticks great while it lubricates before
wouldn't that affect the grip in the long run?

Thanks! Hour count would be about 50 (took us 6 days). But that's filming and working - I reckon it'd be a three-day project otherwise. As for cost, we're into it 1000 bucks. ~RF9

I have a 1978 Suzuki JR50 from when I was a kid. I got it from my grandparent's shed and it had been sitting there for 20-25 years, and was last ridden by my younger cousins. Thanks for this video, the Yamaha in this video is basically the same bike. I am going to restore my childhood bike and will be watching this several times more.

The little details that you add here and there that you obviously would have had to do some research on is just one of the many things you do in your videos that you just don't see much of on UA-cam. A masterclass in 12 minutes of paying attention to detail and cleaning a bike up right! What a cool little bike. Reminds me of the nearly showroom-quality '76 Honda CT70 of my grandpa's that I'm just about done fixing up.

Love these kinds of low-investment, high-yield projects. A roached out bike, a Sunday afternoon, some store-bought stuff and if nothing else it's gotta feel good to look at.

i have a 1987 cbr600f as my first larger CC bike (UK after getting A2 licence). So cool to see one show up in a video like this.
can we just take a moment to appreciate the fact that the first minute of this video could be incriminating evidence posted publicly to the internet of ryan stealing a dirtbike and no one bats an eye

When I was shopping for an XSR900, I ended up choosing the silver.
But damn was that a hard choice over the 50th anniversary yellow.
My first bike was a 1979 YZ80f, which was white with red Yamaha stripes in Australia. As a sign of, great respect I painted my XSR 900 tank the same. It does look so amazingly great. If I could post a picture I would.
My thoughts exactly when I bought mine! I also chose the silver.
Same for my xsr 700, i really liked the yellow, but i ended up with green instead. It was a tough decision!
@@TheHogart My first bike was a Yamaha RD350, I loved it to the moon and back. That explains why I fell for the XSR 900, they are very similar. I later found out there is a mod that makes the XSR 900 look like a RD350, to me that is awesome!

I love to see these old machines brought back to life for people to be able to enjoy all over again. Finding an old bike like the one you had as a kid and letting your kid learn to ride on would be a pretty cool idea too IMO.
I learned to ride on a 1970 Honda CT70 which still runs.

@Badger0fDeath I realize that, but I was referring to something specifically Canadian. In Canada there's a law for broadcasters about Canadian content. I think it primarily applies to radio stations. They had to have a certain % of air time that was Canadian artists.
It sounds Orwellian, but we're living next door to a cultural Goliath. It was an attempt to preserve Canadian artists.
The program was quite successful; there are more Canadian musicians and bands than our comparative population would indicate we should have.
Then of course there's the matter of US spelling which is quite different than the Queen's English. Some software is kind of cheeky offering dictionary choices of, "English or Simplified English (US)"

I'm currently restoring an old bike that my dad owned from the 1980's also! It's a lot of work. I had some trouble getting some parts since it's hard to find another one of it. Mine is a Honda MB5, made in Japan.
Oh cool! I have one of it's successors, a Honda MBX80 from 1983. It's also pain in the ass to get any good parts for it, I had to hunt for 6 months for an original wheel when I found out mine is cracked. But it's worth it, couldn't have asked for a better small bike to ride around the city.

I've still got my '78 Suzuki RM 50 that I got, brand new, when I was 8 years-old. It's still in really great shape.

A kid who,lived near me got a new RM50 in 78. His dad flipped it over backwards and broke a few things the night he got it. He cried and yelled at his dad. His father replaced everything like new. I was a bit older and his dad said he was a little mad at the dealer as he would not have bought him such a peppy bike for his first bike. He learned to ride it well with no major mishaps.
My kids bikes were all ridden into the ground, even the near indestructible Honda 50 cries out to me for the years of abuse it suffered at their hands.
This takes me back to my first bike, 1978 Yahama YZ 100. As a 13 year old I stripped it down to the frame, cleaned and painted it. Had the cylinder bored and installed a new piston and rings and Boysen reeds. It was a great little bike.

I am doing the same thing to my 1976 corvette right now we are putting a brand new Chevrolet HO crate motor in it. You taught me something here the heat resistant pait I will use it on my headers.
