This is the best way to do a guitar tutorial. I'm so sick of ones that seem more like 'guitar' _lessons_ generally, geared more to beginners who barely even know how to play -- as opposed to simply _song_ lessons. And I especially hate the ones that are like, "this finger, this fret, this string, yada yada yada...it's like, 'yeah, I get it. It's just a simple strumming song, you don't need to go into so much needless tedious detail ad naseum that any person who already knows how to play can figure out on their own. I mean I can understand when people are explaining different techniques, or things that are particularly valid. Anyhoo (rambling...)' This presented everything needed, and the least time consuming; your performance wasn't half bad either. Great _'song'_ lesson ;) Thanks for sharing.
I started off playing ukulele and all the tutorials are like this, I switched to guitar and could not find someone who taught like that, I learn a lot better this way and I'm really glad someone decided to do tutorials like this, thank you!
Thank you for your tutorials, it's been 3 years that I look at you, and it's a pleasure. Efficiency, simplicity, happiness. Thank you. from france "les sables d'olonne "
Thanks Alan, i know most of the chords and can usually figure out some of the song on my own but you complete the process. When I am learning a new song, i always check with you first to see if you have a turorial. I especially enjoy having the strumming pattern as that is where i struggle the most. so much easier to learn a song when you are playing the correct strumming pattern, much easier to know when to change chords. Keep up the great work.
Most of the time, I don't even come here to learn the song. Just to listen to a beautiful cover :) Great work Alan. If you could my friend, could you look at Bukowsky by Modest Mouse. I don't even know where to start with it, the tabs just confuse me more!
Hi Alan from Spain: I like your video. I was looking to learn this song and now I feel that I can sing it. Good voice, good hearing and good teacher. Thanks Regards. Juan
@@guitartutorman I am from Philippines and living with family here in New Zealand. I've been struggling with my strumming to the point where I was going to give up until I came across your website which helped me a lot, and inspired me to keep going. 👍👍👍👍
Hi Alan. Thanks very much for this lesson. I will be performing the track live on the Reverse Rett Facebook page this Tuesday at 9pm as part of an initiative to raise awareness of the charity who are funding cures and treatments for Rett Syndrome. You really helped me a lot!
Very nice. Love to listen to you sing the classics. You do this one so well and I'm going to try it on the guitar!!! You my friend are a true inspiration to me to pick up my guitar!!! :-)
Thanks to this vid. I enjoy recording my songs and this tutorial really did helped me play this song in particular. Plus I've added a plucking for the intro and it really matches E-E7. Hehe. Thanks again, man!
Thank you mate, you can find a song sheet here: guitartutorman.com/neil-diamond-sweet-caroline/ I do not read music so don't use sheet music. Hope this helps. All the best - Alan 😊
Alan, love your lessons! You know in the beginning I'm having trouble make the dead sound after the A and D chord at the beginning of the song. Any tricks would be appreciated.
Cheers mate, muting the strings requires practise. Keep your right hand close to the strings when you strum down so you can quickly mute them after the strum. Make sure the angle of your right hand allows all the strings to be covered. Practise slowly then build up the speed (timing is everything with this technique) but above all, be patient and dedicated. Best of luck and Merry Christmas :)
I love your work Alan! I want to wish you, your family and friends all a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous new year. You give us so much fine music. Thank you!!
Hello Alan :D Your Channel is wonderfull. I have learned a lot from your videos and I hope you can help me this time too :D I want you to ask how to mute the chord after playing it? I mean I know how this work with chords like F, Fm or Bm. But only beacuse they are Barré. I can mute the whole strings at once. But all the other chords like Am, D, A, E...... sound terrible because i dont know how to mute the strings I play open :D I hope you can help me with this. Keep going on. You make a lot of people happy with your videos👏💪👍🎉
Hi Julian thanks for your kind comment. Muting the open strings is quite easy though requires a bit of practice with the timing. All I am doing is quickly damping across all the strings with the bottom of my strumming hand immediately after a quick downstrum. It is fast in this song so not easy to see but hopefully this explanation will help. Best wishes - Alan :)
I want to start playing the guitar but I don't want to spend lots of money on one since I would just be a beginner. Any recommendations? By the way, great cover!
My first guitar ('70's) was a Yamaha and it sounded great and took a lot of hard knocks. That is the beauty of a reasonably priced instrument, you don't freak out if you bump the coffee table or someone leans it against a sliding door etc… Choosing a guitar was so much easier when *I had the fellow in the guitar store* play the same song(s) on different guitars before I tried my hand. (Then take a look at used ones online.) I had to get a smaller gauge string until my fingers got stronger.Lots of great videos about how to tune etc… Don't forget to get a decent case because with Alan's FREE tutorials you will be sure to travel with it over to friends-just print out the lyrics. Beats karaoke in a dingy bar! (P.S.-Get ready for some pain while you get those calluses! Hehe.) ☮ Cheers Alan. Another one that made me spontaneously burst into song. (Still zero snow in Toronto!!) Good grief. ☃
