lol.. that Isilon has claimed a lot of egos. I am very close to the edge with mine .... Nice video .. pls keep up to date with your rack build out. Its fascinating stuff.
I tried for 6 months tweaking, tinkering, modifying that Lsilon case.. without any success. The power supplies were the last hurtle and couldn't win the battle. Best thing I did was sell it and found a used Norco 4220 (20 bay) case used locally.. custom fans, standard ATX power supply.. but it's 100% silent. Won't try enterprise cases again.. one day hope to find an affordable Supermicro 847 or 846 case.. but they're over $1000 here in Canada. Hard pass..! thanks for watching!
Nice Rack! We're using a lot of the same components. I especially love the clean look building it into the wall. It makes me wish for a basement or a new construction house so I can have dedicated space. My rack ended up in the master closet after a Reno with an AC infinity duct fan to exhaust the heat into the attic (which also has exhaust fans). Having a rack divide the closet into his/hers isn't nearly as clean as if I could've embedded it in the wall.
Thanks man! I was lucky to have an unused closet in the basement next to my home cinema. We’ll see what I do once we move and build a brand new home theatre ! Stay tuned :) thanks for subbing and watching !
No significant impacts .. hydro bill has been steady for years with no major swings in pricing. 24-26 spinning drives 24/7 .. no complaints other than I still want it even quieter. It’s 10 feet from my seating position in my home theatre and can hear it. More improvements coming one day !
@@atomsbudgetreviews8713 thanks for getting back. For me here in Toronto with only one server 24/7 I get 90 kWh per month. Thanks again, I liked your rack :)
I’m using an amazon rail / shelf for it. Not the strongest thing but works fine. I also have the rack ears but the wrong ones.. won’t slide fully into the rack.
@@tobykez9716 hi! For sure the front top fan isn’t in an ideal place it was the only spot I had room to put one. It for sure draws in cold air into the closet. I have an AC inline fan at the back of my rack with a 4” dryer vent sucking the warm air out of the rack/closet to the outside. This works well and it ramps up and down as the temperature changes inside the closet. I also installed a AC infinity rack mount that helps cool off my AVR. temps are around 25-28’c (summer) which is acceptable. My drive temps are a bit warmer in my Unraid.. around 40-45’c
@@atomsbudgetreviews8713 thats great, how about noise levels for the fan, what fan speed was ideal not to get worrisome, I'm soon to start a project with a 43U in wall rack and considering the inline vent as an option to drive out warm air while usins the 2U intake fan at the base of the rack, you are the only one i saw using it in AV setup others used it for other applications mainly grow houses, was 4inch ideal for you? Do you think 6inch will be a lot better, although i want it as quiet as possible, if 4 inch can do the job being quieter i will definitely go for it. Pls let me know your thoughts
@@tobykez9716 honestly low rpm you will barely hear it but once it starts to ramp up over 80% you’ll hear it for sure. It isn’t noisy but will sound like a bathroom ceiling fan.. get it from Amazon and if you don’t like it return it. I went with a 4” was more than enough and the hole in my foundation was 4” also
Fail in the cooling thats a two system cooling system . Youre suppose to be using the t1 intake below everything to push the cool air up and the t2 exhaust on the top. All youre doing in pulling hot air from the stereo and heating up the unifi gear
The doors on the back of my rack aren’t installed. I have an AC infinity exhaust in-line fan at the rear that exhausts it outside my house. Ain’t perfect but isn’t necessarily a fail either.
Here’s a 2024 updated video ! Check it out !

Parabéns, pelo trabalho.....
Excelentes equipamentos...
Amazing rack setup!
Looks great ! What’s the typical hydro bill for this rack

I looked and use on average 2-3 kWh of power under load for the server rack alone. Got my hydro bill a few moments ago. Hope that helps !

Use anything for surge protecting? Does everything plug into the UPS?
Yup. Everything plugs into an APC PDU on the back of my rack. The PDU plugs into my rack mounted UPS that also has an expansion unit.
Looks nice. I hope mine looks similar some day
Thank you!
Interested how you control your AVR. I'm assuming the IR receiver isn't close to your home theater?
Hi! I use a Logitech Ultimate to control my entire home theatre. Works great until they’re no longer supported. Thanks for watching!
Look into it a system on chip for minimum power consumption
Do you have rails for that silverstone case? I have a similar case and rack ears and would like to throw it in my server rack.
I’m using an amazon rail / shelf for it. Not the strongest thing but works fine. I also have the rack ears but the wrong ones.. won’t slide fully into the rack.
How did you get a Sonos amp for 100 ?
Facebook marketplace.. I got two last year. One for $20 and one for $100. Yes, connect amps. Sometimes just lucky ! I’ve sold them since though..
What server rack do you have?
Where did you get the in wall rack
Standard rack and I cut a hole to put it into an unused closet :)
@@atomsbudgetreviews8713 how is it handling the heat and airflow with just 1 fan on the rack, what became of your AC Infinity in-line fan?

Why do you need that much storage?
because
