That class was a lot more detailed an easier to follow although it took up pretty much most of my day. But now I have a better version of Reaper and a lot more functional. Thank you so much Mike really appreciate all you do.
“ Go slower it goes faster “ that is VO gold! Great interview Mike, Lili and yourself are so generous in your giving advice and guidance thanks Booth Junkie ❤️👍
I worked in TV promotion for around 20 years. Not once did I put punctuation in a script. At first it was because I’m bad at it. I quickly realized it was FAR better to let my VO interpret the script. Often times improving on what I had written.
Awesome! As a radio production director, I’m listening to all the talk about breaths saying “Yes, yes, yes!” Great video, Mike! Thanks to you and Lili.

I'm at the wash plant now...the Trommels are full, the Screen Decks and Hopper are BULGING with GOLD!! I agree with everyone in these comments...this has to be THE best podcast in the VO Genre EVER! Thank you Mike and Lili! Such great and detailed advice!
Fantastic interview filled with all sorts of nuggets with a generous and engaging guest. "Go slower, it goes faster." And "luxuriating in the words." Gold.
I don't know why I decided to watch this videos, but this is one of the BEST Voice Over Tutorials that I've ever seen! Thank you for doing this essential video!!!
Thank you so much! Like you said Mike, lots of gold in here. Especially the reminder to SLOW DOWN. I made my last edit much more time-consuming because I could tell that my cadence was rushed and I had to add space in post.
So good, thank you both. I joined a pay to play a few months ago, three shortlists but no bookings, but I’m confident after watching this that I can get closer. I do two takes where I can and my big mistake so far may be taking the breaths out completely, but thinking of my on screen acting training, new breath means new thought, so it makes sense to leave the breaths and attenuate them. This is awesome, so much learning 😊
Thanks Mike for another terrific video. I am just starting out in VO, and all the nuggets I am taking in, will without doubt, be invaluable to me. You and Lili are VO Superstars!
Wow, such fantastic practical tips I hadn't heard yet as a newbie, and it was so easy to watch both of you with the warm, electric personalities you have. Thanks so much for the video!
That was a great talk with Lilly. Thank you so much for the knowledge and wisdom you gave and the golden nuggets in all the tricks and tips of VO. I gleaned so much just from this conversation! Thank you
SO GOOD! Thank you, BOTH! Do helpful to hear about keeping some of the human things I'm definitely hung up on every little noise and have been frustrated.. as I launch into this work.. I too SO MANY NOTES.. So much here.. transforming this journey..❤
The content of this one is pure gold. But I have to mention the quality and style of production. What happened! Have I been away? This is a whole new level and nothing short of superb!
Mike, I have started into this business only a few months ago. I've been watching your videos, and any other videos I can find, and I've really appreciated the things you have had to offer. I've learned a lot from you! Thanks for bringing Lili Wexu on today. This has been a great learning experience too!
Hi Brother! This is Henok from Ethiopia. I came across your channel accidentally but I loved it. It helps people who aspire to voice over work and do some earning especially in these social media heavy era. I have worked for some of my country's radio and Tv stations as a journalist, producer and director where I find radio and voice over work better for me. I did some commercials on the radio and Tv, they don't know that I work in my home inside a closet and sofa seat that can help me to sound like a real studio. started out recording on Marantz then Taskam now I am using Zoom H4. I'm just writing excitedly to hear some stuff on your channel that I'm concerned about. it's just to say thank you.
This is one of the best videos of its genre that I've ever seen. (And I'm somewhat addicted to the genre.) Thanks Mike and Lili. Saving. Re-watching. UPDATE: I just bought the first book in your series. Thanks.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this AWESOME interview!!! Learned so much and my hand is cramping from taking copious notes! I will definitely sub to your YT channel ! Thank you again!
I'm not a VO artist, but find this stuff compelling because I like language, but also because those of you who do this well are, for obvious reasons, superb at talking about it.
@@BoothJunkie i should watch it from 10 different sign on's so I could hit the 👍 button more. PS I've already watched it twice 🤠 Seriously, I've watched your channel for several years and always enjoy your product reviews, advice, information, and watching you build the studio from scratch. This interview was next level. Great job!
There is 2 kinds of people... The ones that have THAT voice, and then theres me... 😭 I would LOVE to even have the opportunity to prove my limited knowledge of VO to someone in the know to get ANY opinion...
Thanks so much to you Mike for this interview and all the content you produce, and to you Lili for your incredibly gracious tips! My toolbox is slowly filling 🥰
Also, I noticed that she uses TWO pop filters (actually 3). The one in front looks like a Stedman and the other looks like a traditional Dual Layer Nylon pop filter. There's a young guy (James Younger), who also does what you do when it comes to Voice work videos. Here is that link to that YT video: ua-cam.com/video/AR1QQgZ3888/v-deo.html - Let me know what you think about his video.
Thank you Mike & Lili! You guys ROCK! I’ll be using your advice heading into my studiobricks plus one booth today. Looking forward to applying those “hacks.” This is my Game Changer! So glad I subscribed to Booth Junkie! ;)
Summary. I'm from Argentina so sorry for the grammar mistakes. 1. Don't rush, make it slow. 2. Pauses. Make them. If you didn't make it in the record, make it in the edition. Don't cut breaths, it will sound more rush. 3. Puntuation. Record yourself talking of a topic and then transcript the audio and see where put the puntuation. It will help to be more natural. 4. Make physical activity. Use objects. Talk before reading the script. 5. Get couch. 6. Different your auditions. Make 2/3 takes DIFFERENTS. Faster/slow, smiling/serious. 7. Don't say "take 1", "take 2". Just read the script. 8. Don't worry in making a DEMO. Nail the auditions, find your niche and when you record that auditions that can be your auditions. Tell me if i miss something.
Great interview from an amazingly talented lady. I started trying to take notes on a note pad but had to switch to a note book. Thanks for sharing all that information Lili and thanks to Mike for putting this together. You two have an awesome day.
Go slower... it goes faster. I'm guilty of quick reads. Almost like the desire to prove yourself is there rather than the desire to do well. Be deliberate... human... emotional. Great advice, Lili!
Listening to Mike & Lili is hard pill to swallow.... I hear gold while they speak, then I go speak on the mic and it sounds like I have sandpaper in my throat. Then you realize how HORRIBLE your voice really is. 🤦♂😂🤣😆🤬
Wanna get better at recording and editing voiceover?
My FREE class will get you there faster: geni.us/ConfigureReaper6
That class was a lot more detailed an easier to follow although it took up pretty much most of my day. But now I have a better version of Reaper and a lot more functional. Thank you so much Mike really appreciate all you do.
There may be one problem Mike I switched back to AA was just more comfortable with it 👍
Great class!

Right? I love that philosophy.
i can’t tell you how enormously helpful this was! i’m grateful that resources like this exist. solid gold!
Wow! What an amazing and informative interview!

So great! Thank you Both
My Old man used to say: "When you are in a hurry, you better have a lot of time."
Great advice!
Wow...look at this. My two favourites together! What a treat. I love Lili Wexu's work. Absolutely invaluable tips and advice.
Lili is great. She's super generous with her knowledge!
For the audience, I believe her headphones are the Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 32 Ohm with velour pads.
Seems to be the same as what Mike is wearing also.
Lili Wixu is an incredible and talented woman! I loved working on her home studio.
Indeed -- and her studio sounds sooo good! A testament to your skills!
Awesome! As a radio production director, I’m listening to all the talk about breaths saying “Yes, yes, yes!” Great video, Mike! Thanks to you and Lili.

Magnificent. Thank you both. Lesson number one. S-L-O-W D-O-W-N. I was told that in 1979.

Phenomenal video! Will be rewatching. Many thanks to both of you.
Fantastic, thanks!!😀
Love the interview format!
Great insights and info, thanks!
28:15 "too good" is an understatement
Great interview from an amazingly talented lady. I started trying to take notes on a note pad but had to switch to a note book. Thanks for sharing all that information Lili and thanks to Mike for putting this together. You two have an awesome day.
She really is a font of knowledge!
Mike you have the B O M B setup, sleeeeek ⭐️

Really enjoyed this, great inspiration from both of you. thanks Mike & Lili.😀
This is gold. Thank you both

Segueing sentences, with real emotion, to draw great interest.

I loved this. Thank you both!
Great fountain of information here....
Anyone else catch all the mouth clicks?
Hey she’s my fellow Vancouverite voice actor! We also have the same agent 😎
Great interview and info!
Really good stuff!
So great!
5:38 Hey it worked for William Shatner...
Does she have two pop filters or is that some kind of double filter with a cloth and metal one?
Looks like two filters…just like you said, a cloth and metal one, but two separate ones
Great stuff!
re: tones between takes, I once moaned in between takes and booked the gig.
The real pro tips are always in the comments.
Humanisums. Leave them in!
Go slower... it goes faster.
I'm guilty of quick reads. Almost like the desire to prove yourself is there rather than the desire to do well. Be deliberate... human... emotional.
Great advice, Lili!
Right Mike, right!
great advices thanks !
Are those beyer dynamic 770 pro headphones your wearing? Just wondering what ohm i should get 250 or 80 for VO
Fast talker here. lol
Good stuff.
Has anybody else also noticed that her microphone aimed the middle/lower portion of her neck and not her mouth?
Just maybe, you might want to choose a different word other than 'nailing' there Mikaroo!!!
Next lesson... How to land a freaking job, please :)
👍
She's like a brown haired voice over - ing Barbie....
Listening to Mike & Lili is hard pill to swallow.... I hear gold while they speak, then I go speak on the mic and it sounds like I have sandpaper in my throat. Then you realize how HORRIBLE your voice really is. 🤦♂😂🤣😆🤬
Puh...
The mouth noises and constant swallowing I find distracting.
