This show has taken over my mind like nothing has in such a long time. The show is excellent down to every detail. The cinematography and acting just take it to another level. My outtie can't wait for season 2!
It is frustrating to have to wait so long. I wasn't sure after the first 30 minutes of ep. 1, but then I got dragged in and it is really good. Servant, at least for me, is my other fix that I have to wait for too.
@@realreviews4017 watch yellow jackets and from on epix. Also raised by wolves if you haven’t seen that either. Or if you want extra stuff on this show look up the Lexington letter or the MDR handbook ua-cam.com/video/6RvJZ6JUo0E/v-deo.html this is a breakdown on the handbook I think they will release more of this stuff while we wait for season 2
@@jakeman025 Thanks. So you can tell my frustration. I'll take a look at your suggestions.
@@realreviews4017 the servant is good watching it right now. Yellow jackets and from are better you will enjoy.
I totally agree. I can’t stop thinking about all the possible directions it can go. It seems like there are endless possibilities!,
Can we talk about the chemistry between Marc and Devon (Adam and Jen)? Some of the most organic brother-sister chemistry I’ve EVER seen in tv or film.
Agreed.
There's even a couple of subtle incest references/jokes between them in the final episode.
Is Adam in this interview?
Love to hear this! Creator/Writer Dan Erickson based their relationship/way of interacting on his relationship with his sister (me). It was very fun to watch it play out on screen!
@@hayleygoelzer9631 Oh, sorry about my comment Hayley.
@@hayleygoelzer9631 I didn’t know it had been based on a real-life relationship, but that really shines through. This dynamic between the siblings is one of my favorite parts, yet I don’t think it gets talked about enough. So many shows are focused on antiheroes that loving, healthy relationships (especially non-romantic ones) have all but disappeared from screens. I’m so glad this show focuses on the strength we can get from having real connections and from family.
Something needs to be said about the Music: The theme, and the scoring. Theodore Shapiro's use of leitmotifs added tremendous value to an already superior production. With only 9 episodes, SEVERANCE s1 is highly engaging, creepy fun, that will be a breeze to binge-watch. I envy those who haven't seen it yet.
Agreed!
The music reminds me of Her soundtrack.
@@ecurb10 Yes, her has an golden soundtrack, "tree of life" of severancce is my favourite of the series and it has similiar vibes.
@@marvinkem3201 Thanks, I'll look it up👍
Patricia Arquette is an acting powerhouse - seriously, Kathy Bates level psychotic, she's been amazing to watch throughout the show... Absolutely perfect casting!
Psychopath of the year
She was amazing in Boardwalk Empire too.
She was terrifying. 10/10 creepiness
Her eyes are naturally piercing.. she can scold me anytime I'm not gonna lie ;)
Jen Tullock’s performance is under appreciated. She did so well in the finale. So heartfelt talking to Mark about his outties motivations, so intense in the panic over the baby without going overboard.
Once I lost my baby for a couple of minutes in a public place, and the panic that she showed was so real! Exactly like a mother reacts
Im fully upset that Zach Cherry (Dylan) didn't get any questions or speak at ALL. He is hilarious and a great character. So mad.
Seriously! His heroism in the finale made me so emotional
I agree. It is kinda wierd (and bad) to do a panel like this, with this length, and not direct any questions or attention to each one on the panel.
@@Jaksi-a But like Brit said, she was thrilled that they all got to be on stage and be together for the Q & A, even though many didn't get a lot of time.
They talk to Zach at 16:48
He is great, and he did get more time on the panel about Defiant Jazz.
what really connected with me from the show was the work-persona vs real-self contrast, innie vs outie. i remember when i made really good personal friends with a colleague after I left an organization and saw a difference. i know they saw the same from me. it's not extensively written about, often not spoken about, but i think is well known to most people who have worked in any larger organization
Hey, didn't expect to see you here lol. Love your channel btw
It actually is! This phenomenon is generally referred to as ‘code switching’. Interesting stuff, definitely look it up sometime
@@sashankkonathala8627 ditto!
You mean like the conflict between your innie’s work title as a Doctor and your outie’s real life self contrast wherein you’re not really a doctor…?
A man watches the AppleTV+ show Severance once a week for two months, this is what happened to his brain.
DE is a 37 year old male, PRESENTING to the emergency room with a blown mind and an increased heart rate…
33:55 I love that the Helly actress wanted to get a last word, was getting steamrolled and was too shy and polite to speak up but Patricia was like “YOU WILL TALK!”, I completely relate to being afraid to speak up a while ago and currently I will not shy away from saying what I want.
As for the show itself, it has no right to be this perfect, I’m baffled at how constantly it hit the right balance of mystery and reveal up to the very close of the season. and it’s really good to have the spotlight on the universal feel of imprisonment that 9to5 has, instead of glorifying the machine we are subjugated to.
This show is such a cool concept. The duality of the same person because of suppressed memories...it's just fascinating. So I guess Ben Stiller is on my favorite directors list now! I just love this show! It may go down as one of the all time greats like Sopranos, I just can't wait to see more! PLEASE film quickly and give us more!!! I'm addicted.
We can thank Chuck Norris for his amazing transformation.
I was so tense for the entire finale episode. I think I said, "Oh no!" after Adam Scott/Mark said the wrong name. I need S2 soon!!! Please.
Same! Gulp, he said her work name, noooooo!
By soon we mean NOW 🤣
I said “on no” out loud too, so stressful!!
This show has completely severed my mind, I’m either at work thinking of the show or at home watching the show 😂 amazing, thank you for this video and thank you to everyone involved in this amazing show that’s going to be a cult classic for sure
Totally feel that! it was incredibly captivating. During work this week I listened to the soundtrack lol
Yep, my brain is just going crazy, still! I keep going back to “Burt!!/“I’m an Innie”/“She’s alive!!” 😳👍
“Page 197 slaps”
Tramell Tillman is captivating! He stole so many scenes
Yup, striking how appropriate and believable his acting was.
Do you think it could be standing out so much partly by virtue of his character being "in the middle" between the workers and the company? How he's "in charge of culture" and so is owning the overall story, moreso than other characters?
@@ByteSizedSociety i think he's playing a tightly controlled sociopath, which demands a level of poise not everyone can achieve
@@okamiseven reasonable!
Yup I was so glad with Irving's outburst towards him as I wanted to do the same, his acting was perfect
I love this idea came from someone actually working in an office and fantasizing about not having to go in. I've worked in corporate jobs where I would literally dream about getting some kind of non-life threatening injury so I could just go to the hospital for a few weeks and not have the soul crushing stress of work every day and every night. This show is so relatable and so many levels, as well as being insanely thought-provoking and interesting.
I had the same thought. But instead of an injury, I wish the building would have been blown up and damaged while everyone's at home, so we won't have to go in the next day, and be allowed to work from home.
Brilliant directing ,production , cast, cinematography. Awards all around, but even if it gets snubbed. I literally just read a comment about it becoming a cult classic. I agree wholeheartedly.
interviewer: introduce yourselves and talk about your first impression reading the script
literally everyone: *doesn't introduce themselves*
Is that Petey on the end? I blame him.
I was really disappointed with Apple's Foundation series which was just style over substance so it was so amazing and refreshing to start watching Severance and see how cinematic and stylish the show is but it also has thoughtful and clever writing, great character dynamics, fantastic actors and acting, hell, even the color grading is on point and I love how Severance is structured, the pacing is so good and constant escalating of things keeps you hooked, it's a TV show first and not just trying to be a really long movie. The best TV show on television (after Snail Down of course) we need more thoughtful adult scifi like this on TV.
I still can't believe we got to see John Turturro and Chistopher Walken have a budding romance on screen and the rest of cast is so amazing too, Patricia Arquette is so intense and intimidating, Tramel Tillman's artificial friendliness is so creepy, Zach Cherry is so damn funny, Adam Scott is always good in whatever he does and the way he plays both innie and ottie Mark is great, I hadn't seen Britt Lower in anything before this show but now I'm a fan, Helly is such a great audience surrogate character, I was happily as lost and confused as she was during the first season. Can't wait for season 2.
Well said. And even the color palette of what everyone was wearing for the Q & A was visually appealing. I'm sure that was just happenstance, but it was still nice.
Foundation had great concepts but execution was poor. It was the first show I watched on Apple and was dissapointed. I just finished Severance and 3 episodes of See and I completely changed my mind about Apple's capability as a streaming network. Amazing shows. Severance and the concept of it is just mind-bending and See feels like an epic movie.
Dylan (Zach Cherry) is the most underrated character!
🙌🏻 my favorite Sci-fi tv show in a long time ! What a cast ❤️
It’s my favourite too!
If you like hardcore sci-fi, you should check out Raised by Wolves... On the same level of wtf if not higher
@@SoloSaga yes also a very good show lol
The severed floor reminds me of working at a mall overnight... the creepy emptiness, the long winding narrow hallways behind the shops
dam covid there couldve been a 2nd season already done and a third in the works, AHHHHHH
One the other hand, maybe things happened or changed during the lockdown, which changed or influenced the show with things that we enjoyed and made the show great..
Two severance splits really hit me: the suicide one, and the finding out you have a kid. The contrast and split editing is phenomenal.
The very end scene was epic as well. But I fear they'll pull a 'Thanos' in S2 and just reset everyone's work memory and act like nothing happened.
I think I forgot to breathe during most of the final episode. The tension was so thick. What a ride.
Best show. Perfect cast. Cinematography fire. 10/10.
Such a great show, a real credit to everyone involved.
The cinematography, photography, set design, costuming, and other general visuals made this entire show for me. The writing and stuff created the concepts, but the stylistic execution felt so pristine and perfect, and so distinct. Every shot felt like it was extremely intentional… ugh, so good. The performances were pretty much perfect. Great show.
Aside from the well executed premise, the character work is sublime. We all wanted to root for the 4 main characters.
This show is a masterpiece. I had no idea I would be this fascinated. It does make most other TV seem like a chore. And Brit got out the gratitude I was feeling at the end, which was perfect for this video but also this viewer who is still processing this incredible season.
Started this show last night and finished it this morning. Needless to say I was hooked. I'm extremely picky but man did this show get its hooks into me. Hopefully they continue this master piece in season 2 and don't fumble it.
Mrs. Cobel is the closest I've had to having a heterosexual thought in my life.
Tramell!!!!! Sksksksks we love this man
It’s the most original tv to happen in years the level of detail, and intelligence in the show is great. Great performances and design not to mention Theodore Shapiros music
This show is just genius. So original. I haven't felt this way about a TV program since Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul.
I would classify this as a horror tv show. I cannot imagine anything more horrifying than to be trapped like that, day in and day out, being endlessly terrorized and psychologically damaged, with no escape.
I'm so eager to see what happens with season 2. I hope it's as good as the 1st. I really hope it doesn't become like "Lost" where too many things don't get explained.
I've never been this enthralled and obsessed with a show and its world since Westworld season 1 or Mr. Robot. It's made with so much care and love and attention to detail, it's basically flawless.
Hell yes. Not enough people talk about Mr. Robot.
A like is available union request
Funny how Dan wrote more of The You You Are than the actual Lumon handbook 😂 might just prove theories that Ricken and his book are anti-Lumon and that's where the plot is headinng 👀
Zach Cherry's performance stood out to me, I hope to see him in more stuff. I really don't want to see Helly and Mark get together, although i know they will for the drama of it all.
I’ve never been more obsessed with a show
I watch VERY little TV, basically because I rarely get interested enough in a show to keep watching. So I watch Breaking Bad, Sopranos, and The Wire over and over. But I can't remember the last time I was this anxious for the next season of a show to start. I'm extremely psyched for Season 2.
One of the best contemporary shows on streaming. Can’t wait for another season!
The show has a striking similarity to “code switching”. If you black you’ll understand what I mean.
Absolutely
Very "Sorry to Bother You".
Sooo good of a show! That is how you end a season, and hype for the next one.
If I was to be pathologically, insanely picky, I still couldn't criticise Severance. Perfectly cast, perfectly acted, perfectly shot, perfectly edited. The most exquisitely crafted show I've seen since Detectorists. It's a work of art. A masterpiece.
Trammel Tillman 😭❤️🔥 What a gem.
Fantastic season finale. I've watched it three times. Very frustrated I have to wait a year to find out what happens next!
I just notice that the Severance logo has a cracked "r" in it. Does it symbolise the "R" on "Helly R"? 👀
Man, Ben Stiller is WAY cooler when he isn't being weird and cringe.
Such an amazing show. Wish the moderator would have touched more on deeper themes of the show instead of superficial “what’s gonna happen next” questions. Overall fun to see them all interact and I’m excited for season 2!
britt asking dichen if she wants to have a scene together at 23:32 was so cute
The best show on TV at the moment. Amazing attention to detail, perfectly cast. Just great. Cannot wait for season 2!!
I never enjoyed a series this much in the last few years, absolutely amazing.
3 or 4 seasons for optimal narrative arc, please
No more than that. This show easily could have been a one and done too but I’m glad it’s getting more seasons.
Beyond 3-4 seasons would just be too much and too unbelievable.
Damn Hellys proper gone down the rabbit hole there at the end.
3:00 “This very, you know, mundane experience that he was having to go through…” You mean WORK?
The last show that gave me this vibe was LOST
Hopefully it won't end like LOST!
What a great show! Tv is good again
Started to watch and thought oh Ben Stiller directed this, should be fun, well what a wild ride of thought provoking genius and best show for well till next season. Love it and loved all these actors Dichan being a dead Gemma who is actually alive explain that one away. Lumon is the evil NWO???
This show is so fucking good I accidentally turned it on and then couldn’t stop watching
Also - kinda want a copy of that book, they should totally release it
When is season 2 coming out? I am completely obsessed with this show and learning about the innies and outties and everything in between.
PLEASE DONT OVERDUE A POTENTIAL CLASSIC, sorry for yelling, Breaking Bad finished with 5 seasons perfectly, Supernatural should have ended with its 5th season as well, if it has to be 2 seasons just let it happen
I LOVE this show. Great writing, acting and cinematography. Just great all around.
Lovely hearing Lachman's Aussie accent 😍
You didn’t zoom in once to see the actors up close? Pass
My favourite show ever. Honestly just loved it, bravo
Can you please post the pre-recorded intro that Adam Scott recorded from Costa Rica?? Was looking forward to seeing him in this panel but then discovered he couldn't make it. Would appreciate it, thanks.
I don’t know if anyone has that because it was played right before the episode played and not before the Q&A so I don’t think anyone recorded that intro. Sorry about that.
@@TheAstraAwards Aw darn! Tho since it was pre-recorded, somebody must have that... Thanks so much for responding!!! And for posting this vid!
Britt clicks instead of clapping.. interesting.
This show is excellent! So well done, cool and unique concept. I can't wait for season 2
I wish I found this series after Season 2 premiered.
This show has made me think almost as much as raised by wolves
Judd Apatow is a good moderator/host.
Fantastic to call out Scientology here
Severance is awesome
My outtie can't wait for season 2!!!!hell yes!!!
When someone said to Britt Lower, "The scene with the guy who is supposed to be your father; that will be stuck in our minds now" He looks just like Jame Eagen in the perpetuity wing, and "innie" Helly is so overwhelmed, she really looks terrified. That's the first any of them know who they are in the outside world. Great acting. It would be terrifying! I just recently got to see the show and I can't stop thinking about it! Incredible show, absolutely great.
Ms Arquette doesn't know Sydney Cole Alexander's name, she keeps calling her Natalie, her characters name. Every interview/panel about the show she shares the same tid bit about the close scene they shared in Defiant Jazz, every time she refers to her as Natalie....
Ok, is it just me or does Riken remind anyone else of a South Park voice...............???
It's a really great show. Strangely of all the episodes I liked the finale one the least. it seemed unnecessarily drawn out and contrived. They waited too long to wrap things up and set up new things. The dragged out the cabin scenes way too long... They could have started earlier with the escape stuff and it was a but weird that none of them figured to fix the switches in place in stead of making it some acrobatic effort. the knobs looked like they could have been easily fixated
'The wife' reminded me a bit of the Asian lady from Twin Peaks, the same sad/melancholic feel about her. An intriguing actress..
11:58 Skip this part for about a minute. The host totally spoils probably the important reveal of the whole season. You can totally see Ben Stiller, the writer and the cast cringing in their seats because of the massive spoiler he just spilled. Like WTF?? LMFAOOOO
dude this q and a was recorded directly after a screening of the final episode so everyone there had already seen that reveal
Some people say the weirdest scene is when Mark and Helly stumble upon the goat room, and yeah, that was really strange. For me, the weirdest scene is Dylan G. at the waffle party, with the people dancing in the really really strange masks, and the music was eerily perfect for it. But what the heck was that all about? Who are these people, and why are they dancing in those crazy masks?
such a great show. the finale had me so stressed, my heart was beating so fast and once it ended it was like i was having a heart attack- the suspense was real!
Yet we still have no idea what their jobs are for.
I really hope to see more of Petey in season 2
Forgive me for the harm I have caused this world. None may atone for my actions but me, and only in me shall their stain move on. I am thankful to have been caught, my fall cut short by those with wizened hands. “I’m afraid you still do not mean it.”
Britt Lower has so much style in everything - the way she speaks, her dress, her smile. She really impressed me with that dialogue - “Well, boss. I guess this is the part where I should tell you to go to hell. Except you’re already here.”
Awesome show can’t wait to see what happens next ……
Hallelujah there will be a season 2
What do the Refiners do?? And who was that goat guy??
Theres a book intended as an accompaniment to the series. You may find some insight in there.
Awwww... The closing speech from actors was heartwarming
I've been really impressed with the first season of this , however, I don't usually watch shows than expand for more than one season, because generally, the quality eventually suffers.
I hope this is not the case. I hope they keep exploring this interesting concept and don't turn the series into a mystery box show, like Lost or other similar shows.
It's eerie how the camera shifts Yul out of the frame 90 seconds in, and then everyone forgets he's there.
Who wants to have a waffle party?
Please refrain from bragging about the waffle parties
on par with Westworld s1. maybe the best writing there is
Where is Adam Scott?
If I understood correctly, he was outside the country.
Where is Adam Scott?
He had Covid and couldn’t attend
Wow, that hanger left in Britt Lower's dress, amazing!
Was Britt Lower wearing a window curtain?
Hello everyone.
I love this series!!
