Hey Amerie, why don't we fall in love....with books!
Very nice.... lol
Ohh yeeahh, I waited all week for this one 😎 📚 ✨ Love you A! ♥️ Happy #BlackHistoryMonth 💪🏽💪🏾💪🏿✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✌🏽✌🏾✌🏿
If that's you in the picture you look and feel stunning why don't you go ahead and reply so we can start a dialogue and hopefully draw closer to each other(if your not with anybody).
You are such an inspiration! I remember watching your show "The Center" on BET as a kid. I discovered how studious you were during that time, because you would always tell us about your study habits while at Georgetown. My brother told me about your UA-cam channel during my medical leave last March, and I've been subscribed ever since. You've motivated me to start back completing my own reading list. 🙂📚📚📚📝
Born a Crime was so good. Hands down one of my favorite books last year.
Leroy W agreed!!
Happy Black History my brothers and sisters Black Love is All Love ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿😘 just starting I’m Not Your Negro phenomenal book and documentary by James Baldwin
LOVE YOUR NEW VIDEO GIVING ME #1THING VIBES. THANK YOU FOR EXPOSING US TO US. CAN'T WAIT FOR WHAT YOU'VE GOT NEXT!!!👑👑👑👑
Love your new music video Amerie! Keep being awesome! 😊👍🏽
Thank you!😊
Maybe start listing the books you mention in the description box? They always sound so GOOD to read, but I have to rewind and rewind sometimes to try and catch what you're saying so I can Google the title lol
Hilarious because I’m watching this while I am packing. So crazy this is the first video where I’ve read every book before (minus how long til black future month which I started last night). Happy Black History Month and hope you thoroughly enjoy your reads; great picks 🙌🏾💛
Thanks girl! Glad you loved, and happy travels!😊
BORN A CRIME was exceptional! - glad you got to it. Also excited to see you're getting into HOMEGOING! Can't wait to hear your thoughts.
...
I'm finishing CHILDREN OF BLOOD AND BONE.
I'm listening to Michelle Obama's BECOMING on audiobook.
Revisiting Baldwin's IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK, since I saw Barry Jenkins' film adaptation, which was beautiful.
...
Enjoy Oz!!! Safe travels!! ^_^
You're going to have to start your own review channel! ;)
U doin it. Let me step my game up lol
@@JloveLamar oh wow… haha, maybe one day!
@@cbcooks lol! I love a good read.
I would love to see you start a book club. Your discussions are so interesting and I love hearing your opinion.
I'm reading Exit Row by Judi Culbertson which is not a black author or protagonist but I've been itching to read it. But I'm also reading for Blackathon, The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl by Issa Rae. It's already funny. lol I do have a list of books I want to read this month, Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi, Once Ghosted, Twice Shy by Alyssa Cole, The Color Purple by Alice Walker, and a few others. I'm going to check out the books you mentioned in your video. I tend to stay away from books about slavery and gun violence - whether fiction or non-fiction. But it's time I put those fears down and read them. Thanks for the video. 😃 Have a safe trip.
I am blown away at discovering you for the first time less than a month ago! Sorry, I live in a virtual bubble, but I will be cherry picking some of your videos and book recommendations for my students. Thank you for your contribution to the development of others.
Thank you, and I am so honored that you would share my videos with you students. Thank you!😌
I like your video at is so good
Great list Amerie! I'm starting the month listening to Patternmaster by Octavia E. Butler. I was so psyched to learn about her, a black science fiction writer!, on a Google doodle a while back. This is my first science fiction book in a while, and it's super interesting. I'm excited to dedicate the rest of the month too to black authors.
All the books you shared sound wonderful! I am currently reading my Bible & Joyce Meyers "Healing Soul of a Woman"
W@as previously reading "When Your Side Nigga Catch Feelings 2", currently reading "How to Make Love to a Negro Without Getting Tired". I'm still in search of a fantasy novel I like by a black author. I just couldn't get into the last ones you recommended me.
We can't see your nails! Your shifty eyes aren't noticeable. Stop apologizing!
Just saw your curious video. 😍
Great video. So many of these are on my tbr. Glad we have a wide range of choices to choose from in literature of today. Just finished Long Way Down, such a powerful read. The audiobook is amazing, read by Jason.
Listen to rule the world by 2 chainz!!! It’s sampled by you song: why don’t we fall in love
Hello Amerie! Looking good! Tell the folks hello for me! Mr. Ellis!
Do you know this book - Siddhartha by Hermann Hess?
Love your commentary! This month I will be reading Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America’s Great Migration by Isabel Wilkerson and She Would Be King by Wayetu Moore. Happy Reading to everyone!
The Mind of Monèt Monèt Warmth of Other Suns was so good! Enjoy!
bookshelf = goals
You have a good reading month ahead of you, I read washington black, homegoing, and long way down and they were great!!! I did post a vid of what I’m reading this month! How long til black future month is definitely on my list :)
Ahhh you read them! So glad you loved! I’ll check out your post🌟
I absolutely love your channel!!!! Thank you 😊😊😊
I read Trevor Noah born a crime. I thought it was s good book and funny.
I've only read "Long Way Down" and "Homegoing" out of the books you mentioned (and adored them both - the audiobook for "Long Way Down" is amazing btw), but I'm adding all the rest to my TBR straight away! They sound amazing, and I'm particularly looking forward to "How Long 'Til Black Future Month?"! This month, I have a ton of books on my TBR but the one I want to get to the most is definitely Black Leopard, Red Wolf by Marlon James!
Ma'am you are soo talented and amazing.
I recommend “Long Way Down” all the time.
Library goals! 🙌🏾
Enjoy the video 💖☺👑
Reading your non-fiction recommendation - Hidden Message in Water!
Awesome!!! We're doing Blackathon too!!!
I’m currently reading Sisters of the Ysm by bell hooks.
Yam!
We were Eight Years in Power, Washington Black and Long Way Down were fantastic. Enjoy your books.
😂😂@ the nail rant. You're too funny A!! Some great titles to add to my TBR, thanks! Going to try and read one of your recommendations #BlackHistoryMonth☺️🤓 Side note: The way you've decorated and arranged your books/book shelves looks so warm and inviting📚📖☕️-Angie
@ 6:57 i fell in Love With You Because i love the Occult and Hermeticism Plus Quantum Physics / Spiritual Esoteric Thought.. Very Few are truly lovers of Sophia now a day but you seem genuinely a book nerd at heart so i can only imagine how insightful your esoteric book collection is.. it is sad how So Many People in the "New Age" Movement have no clue about Africa being the source of this hidden knowledge.. O.T.O, Wicca, Thelma, Golden Dawn, Tarot cards, Traditional Astrology/Astronomy, Free Masonry, Rosicrucians and so on all list Africa as the origin of their Knowledge/wisdom (or one of the most influential cultures to their Knowledge/wisdom)
Great review! I personally love non-fiction! ❤️❤️ I have to build up my fiction section 🙃
I’m doing a February blackout as well. Long way down as an audiobook was fantastic, Trevor Noah’s Born a Crime was one as well. I plan on reading all the rest mentioned. Thanks for the recs.
I recommend The Color of Law and Black Labor White wealth. Long way down was amazing. Also re-reading classics, their eyes were watching god, beloved.
Hope you're busy writing, cuz you been really quiet on books......
I, too, just finished 'Born a Crime' I mean, WOW! Am I right?!?!? 👐👐👐
I’m curious to know if how many books has she read and if she has read all of those books behind her?
This is my first (booktube) Video that i'm watching of yours. I loved you as an artist, and to find you on booktube, (still active even) amazing. You're literally the highlight to this night. I've been up for hours. lml
Thanks For Being you! And sharing with the world.
It’s so important to READ. I’m just getting into Becoming Michelle Obama. I love the escape of getting into a good book. Being on my phone all the time has made me super anxious and I notice my attention span, memory is shot. I’m putting this thing away.
I really should try Homegoing again. I got to about page 80? I was not feeling it. Very possible that my mood was not ready, but I keep seeing people recommend it
I love ❤️ Trevor Noah. He’s a funny and smart man. To see you glance back at your book shelf to locate the book you were talking about shows you read your books. I so admire that. My 📖 are in storage.....
So, after watching this video I read Long Way Down and let me tell you I am so sad that I am done reading this book. It was such an amazing book and now I don't know what to do with myself. I have other books to read, but I need to take a moment. Love, love, love your page. Thank you so much for all of your recommendations.
1st
your beauty is hypnotic I'm looking at your videos and there's a lot of beauty on your channel
I'm currently reading Homegoing, and I am really enjoying it so far.
Great book! Homegoing. I cried at the end. The ending is beautiful!
So great that you are sharing in this way! 😃🌸
Trevor Noah? Yeah I would like to read his book. 😍
I’m currently reading Dust Tracks on A Road by Zora Neale Hurston. I am drawn to sci-fi and adventure stories, but I plan to read more nonfiction this year. Nice video
: )
Hey chick I am new to booktube just saw your channel... I was like Amerie?? I am really excited to see ya here. LET'S DO THIS GIRL (in my Martin Lawerence voice)!
I just started Trevor Noah’s book today.
i don't think the British were very intellectual at ruling colonialism, they just had half a millenium of practice is what made them good at it - i could learn to walk in high heels and write a masterpiece in that time
This is so awesome your doing this and it encouraged me to do it as well. I want to read Born a crime and I ordered the short stories from amazon. I'm excited to read them!
omg im so late didn't know you had a channel, subscribed!
You should do a video about the “rabbit hole” books. Seems like it would be interesting
Amerie you are just as much a geek as me, which is awesome btw been a fan since 1 thing 😇😇💜
I just finished WEB Dubois and the souls of Black folk. Great book about slavery being abolished and how the slaves were basically just left to figure things out for themselves.
Currently reading If Beale Street Could Talk.. Next up is Heads of the Colored People!
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Homegoing. It was such a powerful book and I’m going to read it again because I’m sure I missed some things.
Born A Crime is my FAVE autobiography & fave book by a comedian! So amazing!!
A looking so radiant as per usual. She looks like she’s ageing in reverse lol
If Amerie tells me to read something. I'm gonna read it !
Whats the name of the 1st book she mentioned???
I love books. I am a new subscriber!!😊
AMERIE?? HOLY SHIT I DONT EVEN READ BOOKS BUT IM ALL THE WAY IN HERE

Keep it if it sparks joy.
Sometimes I stand before it just to stare and smile.
Can you do a review on health and beauty books
Reading the Souls of Black Folk this month. Hope I can get to Homecoming as well!
Homegoing is such a great read, so brilliantly written!
This is such a great list of books! I really need to get to reading some Ta-Nehisi Coates.
I loved Homegoing so much and you know I loved Washington Black. It's incredible how both these novels give a new look at history and families.
I just posted my TBR for Black History Month: ua-cam.com/video/yVkB3sfPlSw/v-deo.html

Danii Elle girl, I feel the same!!! Lol
Hello Ameriie 👋 good to see you again. Great review, thanks for sharing, and keep the videos coming. 🙏
💖💕💖💕💖💕
This doesn't exactly fit the black history month theme but I'm reading 'Rosewater' by Tade Thompson. It's a Science fiction novel by a Nigerian-British author set in Nigeria in 2066 following the events of an Alien invasion. Highly recommended so far.
Thanks for the rec; never heard of "Rosewater" but I'm def interested!
Also, Tade Thompson is Black so technically their book does qualify. Don't know about other countries but in the US, Black History Month is a time to celebrate Black American history *and* the African diaspora.
how does it not fit black history month if it's written by a black author...
Thanks Amerie for doing a Black History Month Edition! This video made me so happy!!! ♥️💚🖤
My son read A Long Way Down at school with his 7th grade English class. He said he enjoyed. Can’t wait to start reading some of these books, I just finished letters to my daughters maya angelou and now I’m reading Michelle Obama’s book.
use the libby app. it's created by the folks who bring you overdrive.
Thanks so much for posting this. I cant wait to get to get into these. I love Born a Crime.
Your chance is amazing. I'm so glad I found it.
I love non fiction & would love another video 💕
I'm reading LIVING TO TELL THE TALE by gabriel garcia marquez whom I absolutely love! I have 15 of his books(missing a few stories from my collection) - this is his memoir.
I love your new song. Idk if you know of Afrobeats but check it out if you don't :)..Particulary WizKid's songs.
Your so beautiful. I grew up listening to your music . Beautiful family , beautiful voice , God bless ❤️
