Building a Concrete Block BBQ / Cinder Block BBQ Grill - Da P.A Vlog

  • My friends and I decided to build a dry stack concrete block bbq grill. This is an easy project that initially took us 30 minutes to build. This was done fast because it has no mortar just dry stack cinder blocks. Eventually I would improve the performance of the barbecue grill by utilizing convection and conducting heat. I have cooked lots of things on this bbq grill and it works perfectly with no issues. It's outperforming my gas grill with better tasting meat due to the wood burning. Once you get the wood fire going its easy to manage the cooking temperature. This is a great backyard addition to a gas grill and is a hit at BBQ parties.

    Thank you for watching my video, if you liked it please subscribe for more videos. This concrete block BBQ has been working great with no issues. Right now I'm using the camp chef lumberjack grill, amzn.to/3fpf9WX for the cooking top but will eventually switch to expanded metal, amzn.to/30ob6Cr. Although the lumberjack camp grill grate is awesome for grilling while camping. This concrete block bbq makes a great smoker as well, I use an alluminum pan, amzn.to/2LJy1UT, to trap in the smoke and tbis method works great. Again thanks for watching, put a like and subscribe for more videos.

    When I was a child my Dad used to take an old refrigerator metal shelf and voila a bbq made of anything that could be placed on sides, like rocks, bricks, or blocks. At my home i loved my bbq it was made of bricks and cement, then added a pulling to bring in or out the meat from the heat. I love bbq nothing like simple food made outside no fancy restaurant needed !!! Do be careful cooking with treated wood it has carcinogens so keep trees natural

    looks good except for one thing. I have a slab outside of my kitchen where I cook. I put some charcoal on that slab one time to get it ready for the grill, it got so hot it blew up and busted a small chunk of concrete out of my patio, those blocks your using for a fire grate are concrete, would it not do the same thing.

    • @daP.A
      @daP.A  4 роки тому +2

      I have gotten this fire to 1000f with no issues. This is dry stacked so no mortar which probably helps with heat expansion. Also the slap is elevated no directly on the patio floor. Never had an issue.

    Tip for next time do a scaled down model first then you won't be short on material, also drill a few small holes in the bottom of the flat pavers for air flow.it well generally increase heat. and grease build up well decrease , but it's cool good idea

    • @daP.A
      @daP.A  5 років тому

      So you recommend making some holes on the flat pavers where the wood goes? That might increase heat but below the flat pavers I store the wood and don't want ash and water to go through. I love the ideas though and I'm open to suggestions so we all learn something. Right now it gets hot and cooks fast because of the convection heat as well as radiant but I'm always open to suggestions. BTW I mock at least on paper would of been hood but it was in my head so I ended up needing material and changing things.

    I just found your video and I liked it. The only comment I have is that you should have taken the legs off the grill portion of your cooker. It was attached by bolts, and you didn't use them. You simply needed to span the distance. Thanks. It was every entertaining.

      It's in the backyard and it looks great for an easy to do grill that can be taken down. This can easy be converted to a permanent grill with mortar and decorative tile or stones to make more appealing. Also the taste of the food you get it's completely different than an expensive stainless steel grill. The smell of wood and open fire at to the experience and taste. The experience of cooking on this grill and the taste its 1000 times better than my expensive grill. I have this in the back of my yard back, way in the back where u can go relax and get the fire ready and enjoy. This is also something anyone can put together in their house if they can't afford an expensive grill or have a cheap grill that lasts one summer. This will outlast any grill and the food is better. This is also most people around the world grill. Thank you for your comment.

      @@daP.A I didn't say a decent grill, but Walmart has cheap little grills for way less like $40 I can be cooking outdoors and if that's too expensive they have a small portable one for $25.
