It's a different time than when I was a kid. You used to buy a game and play that for a month. Now I've got a job and I'm drowning in releases I'll never get the chance to play.
Easily my favorite score of the generation. I bought the original soundtrack, the arranged soundtrack, the live concert arranged soundtrack, the 16-bit arranged soundtrack, and the main theme music box. It has music for everything.
So much so that I refuse to beat it (to this day - almost 3 years after owning it. The world they have built in this game is so damn engaging, that it keeps you genuinely interested

It took me 11 MONTHS to 100% complete BOTW including finding all 900 Korok Seeds and the DLC. I consider that probably my GREATEST video game accomplishment of my 30+ years of gaming, all the way back to the original Zelda on the NES. I can easily say, BOTW is the greatest video game of ALL-TIME. It is worth paying $360 for just a Switch and Zelda even if you never buy any other games. If you divide the amount of play time I got by the cost, it has to be the best entertainment value of any other game I’ve ever played. And for that reason alone, it is #1. I can’t wait to play it again on Master Mode, but I’ll probably do it later this year so hopefully I will have forgotten a lot of the secrets. 😉

It's one of them. I think it slightly fell short as a game because the stories didn't come together fully like in DQ4 but I absolutely loved that game, 150 hours. Brilliant game and a bundle of joy all around.

I think we are at a stage where any console is good. I like my Switch for Nintendo releases but wish I had kept my PS4. The cross platform games are way cheaper on PS4 and there are a lot more of them on there. PSNow is years ahead of other system alternatives. If money is an issue Nintendo will cost you a lot more overall. Personally I probably prefer my WiiU but love the Switch and PS4 too. If you like Zelda then WiiU is the best console. You can get about 13 main titles on it and some of the side games like Crossbow, or Warriors. All Wii titles and all the WiiU titles, plus some oldies from other systems in the eshop. The WiiU is a minefield of great games. Many Switch games are on WiiU and cheaper. Bayonetta, Mario Kart and Pokken Tournament for example. Then any of the great Wii games like Radiant Dawn and Sin and Punishment to name a couple. If I had to choose only one system for life, I would go with WiiU. £90 in Cex with 2 year warranty. Can't go wrong.
Ys 8 was amazing. I was looking forward to it as soon as it was announced for the Switch and it didn't disappoint. I did absolutely everything in the game and loved every second. Xenoblade 2 was also incredible. Loved everything about the game and had to drag myself away from it to play other things. Really hard for me to pick a top 10 as I've had such a great time playing on the Switch and there have already been so many huge games out. The main one that stands out to me that you didn't mention is Splatoon 2 but there are many others

Nice top 10 list! I got my Switch late, but I finally got to playing Zelda BOTW and I am addicted to it, such a good game. Me and my friends spent so many hours on multipayer in Super Smash Bros back in the day not so much street fighter though. I like street fighter but I always kind of sucked at it lol. I never played an Y's game before, but I am definitely going to play Y's Vlll at some point. Have you ever played the rpg Trails Of Cold Steel? Its becoming one of my favorite rpg series this generation, I definitely recommend it.
Johnny and Kim both say "Oh my God" the exact same way and it's funny. I have a feeling he got it from her. I always try hard not to pick up anything from anyone I'm in a relationship with but it's bound to happen eventually.

august strain that depends. Do you prefer turn based RPG games or action RPG? Xenoblade is like watching a 10 hour movie with 50 hours of game play. Some don’t care for the battle system because it has auto attack, but I loved being able to focus on the specials (Artes). It’s truly incredible if you want exploration and amazing story. Ys is 100% action and as I said on an earlier comment, not the most fun for the first 10 hours but the last 20 has one of the best stories I’ve experienced which makes it totally worth it. Octopath is a random encounter grindy game that looks gorgeous and keeps you hooked by making you want to see what happens next to the 8 hero’s. It’s fun to build your party and work toward the next story beat and boss battle. For me, it would be Xenoblade, then Ys then Octopath, but all are fantastic.
Also unpopular. I don't like Smash I prefer Mortal Kombat as my fighting game of choice. Or anything made by Netherealm studies. I bought smash. I even bought the old controller and the big expensive guide book. But it will not grow on me. Please don't hate me. I want to live some of these games I just don't know matter how much I try. I love at the moment Sekiro, The Division 2, DMC 5 and just reached 1000 hours in Monster Hunter World. I love Zelda and Mario on your list though. I hope they are making the next Zelda in the same vein as Breath of the Wild.

It takes a lot for a game to grab me. I casually game now. BOTW though. I could not put it down. Currently have over 200 hours in it. It really does take me back to being a kid.

The first game that hooked me completely was fire emblem three houses Currently im playing through dragon quest 11 Smash bros ultimate was also pretty fun Zelda breath of the wild is next on my list Ni no Kuni, octopath traveler, xenoblade chronicles 2 are all on my back log to play. For me I just recently got a switch, this month actually. And I'm trying very very hard to get into Breath of the Wild. I've beaten every main line Zelda release, and enjoyed them. But...BotW to me doesn't feel like a Zelda title. I run and climb and float for 20-30+ minutes at a time wandering about. While doing so I just wonder...where are the awesome dungeons filled with fun fights and enemies, and puzzles for me to work through? I mean yeah they have the puzzles I guess, but that's what every shrine is basically except the very few that have a mini fight with in it. They all have the same style about them as well, so it's tough for me to even remember them after the visit. I finally get inside of the sacred beast like structures thinking it's gonna be an awesome dungeon. And it's just multiple small puzzles, without much to do with exploring them. Then you have the weapons breaking. Usually they break super fast, and if I like one I have no way to repair it, I just have to find another one. Making me feel less like it's a reward for even finding a cool weapon. The rain preventing me from climbing is a big big pain as well. One part I was climbing a big ruin like area. I spent a good 20 minutes+ climbing up it and got to a part where I was trapped on a small piece of wood when it started raining. And I simply couldn't move because of how I was positioned. So I had to wait what felt like forever for the rain to stop so I could actually resume my climbing. Also outside of a few key locations, and random giant creatures, (like this gigantic lightning dragon) Everything even starts to look alike to me, mostly because of the fact that it's a really large world with recycled assets. But despite all my complaints when I do finally get some of the story I'm really interested. And your enthusiam for the game will keep me playing. I'm at the Gerudo area as of right now, about to enter the city for the first time. Wish me luck in finishing this adventure!

Breath of the wild is also my favorite on the switch. My only draw back to the game was the divine beasts. The game would have for sure hit it out of the park if they had actual dungeons.

Is valkyria chronicles 4 good? I have played it about 10hours and still trying to play it forcefully. I did like valkyria chronicles 1 thought . And i do like strategic games generally so im curious should i still try play it if it would get me hooked
@@Jetzer12 It gets better later on. The beginning is slow but toward Chapter 6-8. Then it starts picking up. It also get somewhat hard. I felt the same earlier in the game but now I am just enjoying it so much. Currently on chapter 15. One reason I enjoyed even more was having the Swimsuit DLC costume on.

Well of course you took your Master Sword into the forest. It's dangerous to go alone. ;) I wouldn't be surprised if the Switch ends up as Nintendo's best system of all time. As a collector I have tons of video games across multiple systems but my Switch library dwarfs them all. There is just so many great games on the system I wouldn't even dare start a Top10 list. One obscure title I like to recommend is Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl. It's an action dungeon crawler in the vein of Diablo but with a goofy food theme tone to it. I can't really say that it's the best game ever but according to MyNintendo I've put in over 265hrs of playtime.
Some games are becoming legendary. Others having a huge past, others as newcomers. Zelda was "carrying" that huge name, the hype was huge and the possibility of failure more than obvious.....then it came out !!!! And for a guy like me at my 43 years old , having played almost every game of the gaming industry since 1982, it was the game that excited me after a loooong period of time. Usually I’m getting easy bored, but Zelda BOTW..... do your self a favor, play the game !!!

I remember when I first played BOTW and I had played some good games in the last few years here and there but when I played BOTW it had been YEARS since a game truly enchanted me truly absorbed me into the world it had exceeded all of my expectations and it was really something else man, it was as if it re awoke my love of video games it is easily my favorite switch game so far. another thing I will add, One game (kind of how you explained your love for DOOM on switch ) was LA Noire very cool playing it handheld.
Recently started replaying breath of the wild, trying master mode this time and loving it :). I think the next few months will be dominated by the switch. So many great games coming like daemon x machina, the new fire emblem, marvel ultimate alliance, astral chain, links awakening and more :).

Get it, you won't regret it. It compliments my other platforms oh so well.
I think we are at a stage where any console is good. I like my Switch for Nintendo releases but wish I had kept my PS4. The cross platform games are way cheaper on PS4 and there are a lot more of them on there. PSNow is years ahead of other system alternatives. If money is an issue Nintendo will cost you a lot more overall. Personally I probably prefer my WiiU but love the Switch and PS4 too. If you like Zelda then WiiU is the best console. You can get about 13 main titles on it and some of the side games like Crossbow, or Warriors. All Wii titles and all the WiiU titles, plus some oldies from other systems in the eshop. The WiiU is a minefield of great games. Many Switch games are on WiiU and cheaper. Bayonetta, Mario Kart and Pokken Tournament for example. Then any of the great Wii games like Radiant Dawn and Sin and Punishment to name a couple. If I had to choose only one system for life, I would go with WiiU. £90 in Cex with 2 year warranty. Can't go wrong.

Ys 8 was amazing. I was looking forward to it as soon as it was announced for the Switch and it didn't disappoint. I did absolutely everything in the game and loved every second. Xenoblade 2 was also incredible. Loved everything about the game and had to drag myself away from it to play other things. Really hard for me to pick a top 10 as I've had such a great time playing on the Switch and there have already been so many huge games out. The main one that stands out to me that you didn't mention is Splatoon 2 but there are many others

Nice top 10 list! I got my Switch late, but I finally got to playing Zelda BOTW and I am addicted to it, such a good game. Me and my friends spent so many hours on multipayer in Super Smash Bros back in the day not so much street fighter though. I like street fighter but I always kind of sucked at it lol. I never played an Y's game before, but I am definitely going to play Y's Vlll at some point. Have you ever played the rpg Trails Of Cold Steel? Its becoming one of my favorite rpg series this generation, I definitely recommend it.
BOTW is a 9/10 for me. Those motion controlled shrine challenges brought it down a point.

during my first few months with the switch lite ive made a small collection. my collection contains final fantasy x/x-2 remaster, final fantasy xii zodiac age, mortal kombat 11, diablo 3 eternal collection, minecraft, rayman legends definitive, saints row 3, binding of isaac afterbirth+ , re origins collection (zero and 1), resident evil 6, breath of the wild, mario kart 8 deluxe, dont starve, lets go pikachu (pokemon yellow was my first pokemon game so i had to get the remake plus i play pokemon go), pokemon sword, smash bros ultimate, animal crossing, dauntless (free), paladins (free), fortnite (free), megaman legacy collection 2, and spyro reignited trilogy. again just a small collection but a collection i enjoy playing. theres a few games i still need to add to the list tho

august strain that depends. Do you prefer turn based RPG games or action RPG? Xenoblade is like watching a 10 hour movie with 50 hours of game play. Some don’t care for the battle system because it has auto attack, but I loved being able to focus on the specials (Artes). It’s truly incredible if you want exploration and amazing story. Ys is 100% action and as I said on an earlier comment, not the most fun for the first 10 hours but the last 20 has one of the best stories I’ve experienced which makes it totally worth it. Octopath is a random encounter grindy game that looks gorgeous and keeps you hooked by making you want to see what happens next to the 8 hero’s. It’s fun to build your party and work toward the next story beat and boss battle. For me, it would be Xenoblade, then Ys then Octopath, but all are fantastic.

Also unpopular. I don't like Smash I prefer Mortal Kombat as my fighting game of choice. Or anything made by Netherealm studies. I bought smash. I even bought the old controller and the big expensive guide book. But it will not grow on me. Please don't hate me. I want to live some of these games I just don't know matter how much I try. I love at the moment Sekiro, The Division 2, DMC 5 and just reached 1000 hours in Monster Hunter World.
I love Zelda and Mario on your list though.
I hope they are making the next Zelda in the same vein as Breath of the Wild.

The reason why I watch this channel is because I love RPGs as well.
At 16:26 I had this strange feeling, like something started building up inside me, at 16:31 I suddenly got a little bit of goosebumps, at 17:33 the goosebumps suddenly hit again, but this time they poured over my entire body, at 18:12 it was at this point that I thought to myself "I really need to get this game"

It takes a lot for a game to grab me. I casually game now. BOTW though. I could not put it down. Currently have over 200 hours in it. It really does take me back to being a kid.

DunsparceAndDiglett Torna the golden country. Personally I didn’t like it as much as the first one because they force you at one point to do all the side quests.

For me I just recently got a switch, this month actually. And I'm trying very very hard to get into Breath of the Wild. I've beaten every main line Zelda release, and enjoyed them. But...BotW to me doesn't feel like a Zelda title. I run and climb and float for 20-30+ minutes at a time wandering about. While doing so I just wonder...where are the awesome dungeons filled with fun fights and enemies, and puzzles for me to work through? I mean yeah they have the puzzles I guess, but that's what every shrine is basically except the very few that have a mini fight with in it. They all have the same style about them as well, so it's tough for me to even remember them after the visit. I finally get inside of the sacred beast like structures thinking it's gonna be an awesome dungeon. And it's just multiple small puzzles, without much to do with exploring them.
Then you have the weapons breaking. Usually they break super fast, and if I like one I have no way to repair it, I just have to find another one. Making me feel less like it's a reward for even finding a cool weapon. The rain preventing me from climbing is a big big pain as well. One part I was climbing a big ruin like area. I spent a good 20 minutes+ climbing up it and got to a part where I was trapped on a small piece of wood when it started raining. And I simply couldn't move because of how I was positioned. So I had to wait what felt like forever for the rain to stop so I could actually resume my climbing. Also outside of a few key locations, and random giant creatures, (like this gigantic lightning dragon) Everything even starts to look alike to me, mostly because of the fact that it's a really large world with recycled assets.
But despite all my complaints when I do finally get some of the story I'm really interested. And your enthusiam for the game will keep me playing. I'm at the Gerudo area as of right now, about to enter the city for the first time. Wish me luck in finishing this adventure!

Breath of the wild is also my favorite on the switch. My only draw back to the game was the divine beasts. The game would have for sure hit it out of the park if they had actual dungeons.

Is valkyria chronicles 4 good? I have played it about 10hours and still trying to play it forcefully. I did like valkyria chronicles 1 thought . And i do like strategic games generally so im curious should i still try play it if it would get me hooked

The beginning is slow but toward Chapter 6-8. Then it starts picking up.
It also get somewhat hard.
I felt the same earlier in the game but now I am just enjoying it so much. Currently on chapter 15.
One reason I enjoyed even more was having the Swimsuit DLC costume on.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Switch ends up as Nintendo's best system of all time. As a collector I have tons of video games across multiple systems but my Switch library dwarfs them all. There is just so many great games on the system I wouldn't even dare start a Top10 list.
One obscure title I like to recommend is Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl. It's an action dungeon crawler in the vein of Diablo but with a goofy food theme tone to it. I can't really say that it's the best game ever but according to MyNintendo I've put in over 265hrs of playtime.

Zelda was "carrying" that huge name, the hype was huge and the possibility of failure more than obvious.....then it came out !!!!
And for a guy like me at my 43 years old , having played almost every game of the gaming industry since 1982, it was the game that excited me after a loooong period of time.
Usually I’m getting easy bored, but Zelda BOTW..... do your self a favor, play the game !!!

thank you for talking about BOTW. I remember when I first played BOTW and I had played some good games in the last few years here and there but when I played BOTW it had been YEARS since a game truly enchanted me truly absorbed me into the world it had exceeded all of my expectations and it was really something else man, it was as if it re awoke my love of video games it is easily my favorite switch game so far. another thing I will add, One game (kind of how you explained your love for DOOM on switch ) was LA Noire very cool playing it handheld.
Recently started replaying breath of the wild, trying master mode this time and loving it :).
I think the next few months will be dominated by the switch. So many great games coming like daemon x machina, the new fire emblem, marvel ultimate alliance, astral chain, links awakening and more :).
