This is the absolute best tutorial that I have seen. I wasn't able to do updates on my computer for Windows 10 for at least 3 weeks. Didn't help me at all, but I stumbled into something that did. Keep in mind I just updated to Win11 from Win10 this afternoon, keeping all my programs and files. Update went fine, except when I went to the Windows Download, there was the yellow circle with an exclamation point, and two Windows 10 files that are stuck there and won't install, nor do they ever leave the queue. I went through your procedure twice, and nothing changed. Tried a few other things which did nothing. Then I did something that fixed it, just as I was going to "go back to Win10." After you update to Win11, under Windows Update, there's an option to go back to Win10. I chose that, and it asked me a few questions, and then gave me a choice to try updating Win11 to see if it would fix the issues. I clicked that and this time the Win10 files that were stuck there disappeared and it downloaded and installing Win11 updates. It's always something isn't it. I did this update to Win11l on an old computer, using a script to get it to load Win11, and my first reaction to Win11 is I don't like it, but I don't know how much of that is I'm used to Win10. I'm not going to do Win11 on my newer computer because I've read it doesn't always play nice with FS2020. Having lived through Vista and Windows 8, two really stupid versions of Windows, I just think Bill Gates is making Windows too much about pushing Bing and Edge etc. on people. Cortana, for example, was idiotic. I wasted so much time trying to make that useful.

Reading my explanation over though, instead of "Windows Download," that I wrote in the first paragraph, I may have meant Windows Update. We're in the age of AI, and I use a free one called Perplexity. You can ask it any tech questions you want and as long as you are very detailed in your explanation, it may be able to answer something. BTW, since a year ago, I've come to like Win11.
Take your cursor on the my PC or my computer icon on desktop,then right click, choose manage, then services, then scroll down to the bottom where u can find Windows system update... click on it and change to automatic then apply and OK.

A couple folders would not delete, so I went to next step. Windows 10 update completed! I'm so excited! I pay for tech support, and they just gave me the contact info for Microsoft. You can't get through to them. I followed your instructions, and I am so thankful. I didn't have that setting on "automatic". I only have one other problem. I lose acces to my external KB/mouse, but a restart usually fixes it. tech support updated drivers, or deleted them and they would reinstall. I just can't find a solution to this. I have fresh batteries in both HP mouse, HP Keyboard. thank you so much!

If windows is not letting you delete the files in “Software Distribution” because it says they are “being used by another program” then restart your PC and then try again.
This video was a massive help. I spent over 2 hours looking through forums and other videos on how to fix update error 0x8007065E. I already did most of the steps shown here with no success. NONE of the other tutorials ever even mentioned BITS. A simple restart of BITS is all I was missing.

You should go to the services page (4:34) and stop the Windows Update Service. This Service still uses the files and therefore the files cannot be deleted.

It doesn't work! Someone added malware to my laptop and I think they done something to it. OI also need to enable TPM 2.0 and secure boot on my Lenovo laptop but I'm finding it hard?

I was having this error for almost a week and I have been struggling with, after I have watched the video and tried to install the updates I have seen that today my laptop installed one security update successfully. the only thing I did was to resize my recovery partition from 520 MB to 1 Gb using minitool partition hazard and also my date and time was wrong so I enabled to be automatically corrected in the setting. And now my laptop is successfully installed some updates. I am not sure that the steps of these video fixed the problem and allowed my laptop to install the updates, just follow the steps.
Did not work. Could not delete the DataStore folder and ReportingEvents text file in the Software Distribution folder as they were apparently in use. I had no choice but to carry on with the rest of your instructions. I still have the same problem however, i.e., Windows Intelligence Update Install error - 0x00000000.

My PC won't let me delete anything from the Software Distribution folder, saying that all the documents are still in use and therefore cannot be deleted. Any advice?
When I went to the sfc scan part it would not scan. The message I saw was that a system repair was happening and I would have to reboot to complete and then run sfc again. I've rebooted twice now and it just keeps doing the same thing. So I can perform the sfc. I'm really frustrated at this point.
@@EasyTechGeek So something odd happened. It was doing the same update loop it has been doing for over a week. Where it attempts to update and fails and then will undo the update. It did that about four times in a row (?!) and I was getting super annoyed watching this. Then it finally stopped after failing to update again. At least I thought so. I closed the lid, left it on and was doing something else for about an hour. When I came back I noticed the update notice was gone. I went to the update history and it indicated an update was performed. So IDK what happened but it looks like you DID help.😀 I am confused because one second no commands were working and now it's done it's job. In 4:39 , on clicking 'Windows update' a dialogue box is appeared as the same , but the service status is viewed as 'stopped'. And the options below that like start,stop,pause and resume are in grey colour. Also I can't apply 'automatic' as well as the automatic (delayed Start).
I did all of that but mine still says I’m “missing important security and quality fixes” without letting me update. This has been normal for a long time and the PC will randomly tell me I have an update over and over again without this message going away

Hi, umm so I have encountered 2 problems while doing the tutorial on my old laptop. so my laptop is a hewlett packard that I use for coding, it has a intel Core i3 7th gen processor. so in recent years I tried to update the driver but the software update won't install. I stumbled upon your video today and I tried to do your first step, then I encountered the first problem. So the 1st problem is When I got to Software Distribution and tried to delete the 4 remaining files that I can also see in the video, I clicked the delete as an admin and then it says it "can't be deleted because the file is open in another program". after that I let it be and then moved on to the next step. the troubleshooting, everything went fine and restarted the computer. Now the second problem is, As I type in the Command prompt commands, I waited for a few seconds. And then the prompt said: "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service". I would be very happy if you would assist me on my problem. so far, Thank you for the tutorial, it was very understandable and very straight to the point, impressive. (sorry for the wrong grammar).

HUGE THANKS! I upgraded from Win10 Pro to Win11 Pro on my "unsupported" Lenovo laptop, and as the updates started rolling they got stuck on (kb4023057) error 0x80248014. The update started but failed at 10% and then the battle with the error began. I tried various different tutorials and was having regrets for upgrading to Win11, but then I followed the steps in this tutorial and IT SOLVED THE ISSUE! Thanks again for your work. 💙

Doesn't work. When I try to delete the files from the software distribution folder is says they are in use and cannot be deleted. Also my troubleshoot screen does not have a Windows Update option. It says "No recommended troubleshooters at this time." Additionally SFC /scannow command finds a problem, but can't fix it. It's been like this for a year. Very frustrating.
Great ! Worked for me ! The only thing that didn’t go smoothly was : I couldn’t delete everything in the Software Distribution folder. I was having this error for almost a week and I have been struggling with, after I have watched the video and tried to install the updates I have seen that today my laptop installed one security update successfully. the only thing I did was to resize my recovery partition from 520 MB to 1 Gb using minitool partition hazard and also my date and time was wrong so I enabled to be automatically corrected in the setting. And now my laptop is successfully installed some updates. I am not sure that the steps of these video fixed the problem and allowed my laptop to install the updates, just follow the steps.
Did not work. Could not delete the DataStore folder and ReportingEvents text file in the Software Distribution folder as they were apparently in use. I had no choice but to carry on with the rest of your instructions. I still have the same problem however, i.e., Windows Intelligence Update Install error - 0x00000000.
Reset your pc then install all the updates

Try Repairing Windows
Search cmd then run as admin and execute the following 3 commands one by one-
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Restart.
Once Done Trying Running System File Checker SFC Scan
sfc /scannow
Restart.
Windows Updates-
Install all the latest Updates and then Restart the PC.
My PC won't let me delete anything from the Software Distribution folder, saying that all the documents are still in use and therefore cannot be deleted. Any advice?
Where he went to run. You can Stop windows update there. Then it’s your able to delete all files. Don’t forget to press run again

When I went to the sfc scan part it would not scan. The message I saw was that a system repair was happening and I would have to reboot to complete and then run sfc again. I've rebooted twice now and it just keeps doing the same thing. So I can perform the sfc. I'm really frustrated at this point.

@@EasyTechGeek So something odd happened. It was doing the same update loop it has been doing for over a week. Where it attempts to update and fails and then will undo the update. It did that about four times in a row (?!) and I was getting super annoyed watching this. Then it finally stopped after failing to update again. At least I thought so. I closed the lid, left it on and was doing something else for about an hour. When I came back I noticed the update notice was gone. I went to the update history and it indicated an update was performed. So IDK what happened but it looks like you DID help.😀 I am confused because one second no commands were working and now it's done it's job. I will let you know if it malfunctions and I need to use the command you shared. But for now, thank you very much!🙌🏽👍🏽

In 4:39 , on clicking 'Windows update' a dialogue box is appeared as the same , but the service status is viewed as 'stopped'. And the options below that like start,stop,pause and resume are in grey colour.
Also I can't apply 'automatic' as well as the automatic (delayed Start).

I did all of that but mine still says I’m “missing important security and quality fixes” without letting me update. This has been normal for a long time and the PC will randomly tell me I have an update over and over again without this message going away

I had the same problem with files not deleting. Try stopping the Windows Update service in services.msc

Hi, umm so I have encountered 2 problems while doing the tutorial on my old laptop. so my laptop is a hewlett packard that I use for coding, it has a intel Core i3 7th gen processor. so in recent years I tried to update the driver but the software update won't install. I stumbled upon your video today and I tried to do your first step, then I encountered the first problem. So the 1st problem is When I got to Software Distribution and tried to delete the 4 remaining files that I can also see in the video, I clicked the delete as an admin and then it says it "can't be deleted because the file is open in another program". after that I let it be and then moved on to the next step. the troubleshooting, everything went fine and restarted the computer. Now the second problem is, As I type in the Command prompt commands, I waited for a few seconds. And then the prompt said: "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service". I would be very happy if you would assist me on my problem. so far, Thank you for the tutorial, it was very understandable and very straight to the point, impressive. (sorry for the wrong grammar).

HUGE THANKS! I upgraded from Win10 Pro to Win11 Pro on my "unsupported" Lenovo laptop, and as the updates started rolling they got stuck on (kb4023057) error 0x80248014. The update started but failed at 10% and then the battle with the error began. I tried various different tutorials and was having regrets for upgrading to Win11, but then I followed the steps in this tutorial and IT SOLVED THE ISSUE! Thanks again for your work. 💙

Doesn't work. When I try to delete the files from the software distribution folder is says they are in use and cannot be deleted. Also my troubleshoot screen does not have a Windows Update option. It says "No recommended troubleshooters at this time." Additionally SFC /scannow command finds a problem, but can't fix it. It's been like this for a year. Very frustrating.

My windows 11 was stuck on an end of license update which is a known issue at the moment and this helped me to unclog the bugs and install windows 11 22h2 (repair version) I had to slightly deter from your advice but it got me on the right path and windows update has corrected itself.
