One of the few NFL games Emrick worked to my knowledge. CBS sure did like to bounce Stram around with various play by play partners though. It seems like every week he was paired with someone different than the week before.
Terry McDaniel #36 of the Raiders Career Accomplishments He played 11 seasons from 1988-98 5x Pro Bowl selection 4x All-Pro selection 35 interceptions for 667 yards. Average return or 19 yards. 6 touchdowns 7 fumble recoveries for 132 yards. Average return or 19 yards. 2 touchdowns
Those voices...are you telling me Doc Emrick and Hank Stram called this game?! Wow I’ve never thought I’ll see Doc Emrick calling an NFL Game and even more crazy, I’ve never thought I’ll see Doc call a Raider game!!!
Emrick came on at the tail end of CBS' run with the NFL, as this was their last season with the NFC package. His most prominent NFL assignment is only in hindsight: he called Brett Favre's first start as a Packer.
I was at this game - had Raider season tix from '93 to 2003. Never thought we were very loud at the LA games, but this makes me reconsider. I was always at the stadium and you can't necessarily tell when you're in it. Thanks for the upload.
I was at this game, too! I lived in Long Beach, so I took the Blue Line to Exposition every Sunday, bought scalped tickets, partied at the tailgates! Great memories!!!
It's not that the fans weren't loud, its that the configuration of the Coliseum meant the noise went up and away from the field. So it didn't have the same impact.
@@jamesconnor2278 That's smart, taking the blue line. Parking was tough in LA, you had to get their early if you wanted your own tailgate. Of course, it was the same in Oakland, just larger lots...
Watching this team from the early 90's feels like the exact opposite of the modern Raider teams. Those early 90's teams had some seriously monstrous defenses.
Strange that this somewhat obscure game shows up on my suggested video's list. I'm seriously starting to wonder if UA-cam can scan my brain. I remember this game, as I was watching opening day NFL (back in the days when that was something to get excited about) at a bar called Thirsty's in Binghamton NY that had the satellite NFL package to show all the games, which was a must for the gambling/drinking Sunday afternoon crowds that loved to spend money. Thirsty's was also known at the time for fantastic wings with large varieties of flavors and wing drumsticks almost as big as chicken legs. After drinking steadily since noon and watching/betting the early games (I can't recall if I was winning or losing), it was now 3:45 PM and the 4 o'clock games were close to coming on. I asked what the line was in the Raiders v Vikings game, and when I was told Minnesota was a small road favorite (perhaps -2 or -3), I asked "Who died and made the Vikings king?", and with drunken courage and stupidity, I went to a pay phone (yes, they actually existed once upon a time) and placed a much too large wager on the Raiders. The Vikes fumbled the opening kickoff, the Raiders went ahead 7-0 right off the bat, and this turned out to be one of the easiest stress free winning NFL wagers I ever had. Been a while since I even watched an NFL game, and much longer since I was in New York, but this video brought back a nice memory of what at the time was just another meaningless Sunday afternoon with friends, and now is a cherished mental clip of a moment now greatly elevated in status as great days of precious long gone youth.
53:48...fellow Raiders fans, for the life of me, I've never gotten an answer...what was that music that would play after a Raiders touchdown in Los Angeles? Does anyone know?
That was a very good Playoff Calibre team, except for the offense... Defense, lights out! Offensive Line, VERY good! Quarterback, mediocre at best. Receivers, Tim Brown. Running Game, nonexistant...
Lifelong Vikings fan here. This was a bad performance by Minnesota lol. They had many chances to get into the game. They proved to be talented enough. But on this day, they failed big time.
Mike "Doc" Emrick called the NFL broadcast on CBS in 1993 season alongside hall of fame coach, the late-great Hank Stram.

lol. Same!
Hoss is the most underrated QB in Raider history

At the time, people said the Raiders were much softer than they were just a few years prior. Hiring Shanahan was what started the curse.
Jeff Hostetler first game with the Raiders.
Jeff was pretty damn good for the raiders especially this year. He came onto that organization As a Super Bowl winning quarterback.
NFL Hall of famer Howie Long last year playing before next year as a studio analyst on FOX NFL pre game show
53:40: Terry McDainel with the Ed Reed Interception 😮😮😮😮 36 yds for Number 36.
Forgot that Mike "Doc" Emrick actually called NFL games for CBS back in the early 90s.
Doc Emrick is one of the best.
Same here it's so weird that he's doing football
And calling this one with none other than 73-year old Hank Stram as the analyst.

Yes, UA-cam can now scan your brain. As well as mine. I think that's a good thing?
Roger Craig played for the Raiders in 1991.
Great upload. Thanks bro. ☠️🖤🏴☠️🙏
Not a typical game for the Raiders that year. Almost every game went down to the wire with few exceptions.
It was the only win they had in the regular season of more than 7 points. Absolutely a wild ride they took us on in 93.
Jack Del Rio was the head coach for the Raiders in 2015-2017
Wow a nhl announcer doing a NFL game wow
I even forgot that Doc called NFL games for CBS. He was just a fill in while other announcers were on other assignments.
Or...Doc was erroneously told the Kings were holding an outdoor hockey match at the Colosseum...and ran into Stram...so Doc improvised?
Pre-AFC package NFL on CBS
Wow what a huge crowd....not
"The Raiders are the most penalized team in the NFL."
24-7
53:33
this game involves two super bowl winning quarterbacks
I'm guessing this was the only time CBS paired Emrick and Stram together?
NFL on CBS Week 1 Sunday Sept 5 1993 400 EST kick-off 68 F/ 20 C Attendance - 50,000
Did McMahon ever take his shades off for a picture? I hope not.
Announcer: Chester McGlockton weighs 310 lbs!
Modern NFL: Hold my cheeseburger
He weighed 325
53:48...fellow Raiders fans, for the life of me, I've never gotten an answer...what was that music that would play after a Raiders touchdown in Los Angeles? Does anyone know?
The Blues Brothers intro music. It played when Jake & Elwood took the stage.
Its called Can't Turn You Loose...loved to hear that from the Raider band in the Southwest corner of the Coliseum near the tunnel
That was a very good Playoff Calibre team, except for the offense...
Defense, lights out!
Offensive Line, VERY good!
Quarterback, mediocre at best.
Receivers, Tim Brown.
Running Game, nonexistant...

👍🏼 ☠️🏉🖤RN4L
The only game that regular season that the Raiders won by more than a 1-score margin.
