- 8.G.A.8.G.A.In this video lesson, we will learn the definition of similar figures. Similar figures are figures that are the same shape but different sizes. Similar figures have corresponding sides that are proportional and corresponding angles that are congruent. We will learn how to identify corresponding sides and angles and how to use a proportion to determine if figures are similar. We will also learn how to use a proportion to find a missing side length given that two figures are similar. We will also learn why it is important to enlarge or reduce an image proportionally to avoid distorting the image. Student practice is embedded in the video and exemplar solutions are modeled and explained.

Geometry 8.G.A. Understand congruence and similarity using physical models, transparencies, or geometry software.
8.G.A.4 Understand that a two-dimensional figure is similar to another if the second can be obtained from the first by a sequence of rotations, reflections, translations, and dilations. Given two similar two dimensional figures, describe a sequence that exhibits the similarity between them.
i really needed this. Thanks!
You're so welcome!
Thanks u so much teacher but I have a question what if they asked for in the adjesnt figure the two rectangles are similar write proportionally statement
And for the ratios between their dimensions
Similar figure have corresponding sides that are proportional. So write a ration of corresponding lengths and it will be equal to a ratio of corresponding widths.
Thanks
You’re welcome!
2,3 and 5 not possible to make a triangle
Ha! Good catch!! Triangle Inequality Theorem. You are correct!!!!
B and C Similar Figures.
