I am always nervous when the teacher asks for a meeting. I always end up with homework. But then I remind myself that the teacher does this because they care so much. ❤ kudos to all the teachers out there!!!

Thank you, Dr. Jasmine! This happened with my daughter in K - there were a lot of changes going on with the transition from pre-K (including all new classmates and learning a new language). The teacher called me several times and we had a few good talks about it, working together as a team to figure out what was at the root of the behavior. I was lucky to have a teacher/partner who answered all these questions without my having to ask and who was open to working together to help my daughter adjust!

Ah this is so great to hear. I'm so glad you had a good experience because this can feel so stressful as a parent.

I like this because my son is in 1st grade and the teacher is not being understanding. My teacher just says your son is disrespectful. Teacher can’t tell me what he is doing that it’s disrespectful. I like this questions I want to try this with my son’s teacher.

This all sounds lovely but I find it is most often a home issue that spills to classroom environment. Child is tired, not fed, rushed to get out and so much more. Teachers are doing the best they can holding on and supporting families. Parents seriously need to plan time better with their children. Not just drop them off, sick/tired/hungry/medicated etc. Spend a minimum of half hour with your child before leaving for work. FOCUSED attention. Then again at night. Stop, get them to help with dinner and set up so you can speak. Go to parent teacher conferences. Volunteer in the classroom. Take time to visit for lunch during the week. Your jobs can hire someone new, your child only gets one round with you as a parent. Make it count! Make your frailly a priority every day. Not your job or phone.
