Greetings all the way from Japan! Always enyoing watching your show!! You very posh way of reviweing Japanese products are very very interesting indeed. Also Mr. Price's episodes about his time in Japan that he mantions from time to time are very very interesting. Wish to hear more about Mr. Price's life in Japan. Thanks very much for very nice show! Tohi Fukuda, Japan.
Here I was in Corfu at 3am, suffering with a specially imported UK flu virus courtesy of visiting relatives and dosed up to the eyeballs. I couldn't sleep, I'd become slightly constipated due to the flu cure blocking all bodily functions and the night loomed long and mournful before me. Then, I spotted the latest Hi-Fi Riff video lurking at the top of the UA-cam subscription page. "Why not?", I thought. "I can't feel any worse".......21 minutes later and the World is spinning beautifully again. You two and your little, smiley boy have done the trick. The Smiths, Scritti and Microdisney all get a mention - I've got them all on vinyl with an extended Miles Davis solo on Scritti's "Oh Patti" single. I can safely say that all my problems are behind me now. Thanks, Guys.
You two do make me smile and I did have an AP50 in 78! (they were faster than a Fizzie by about 2 mph just in case you were wondering!) . . . . you do talk the most interesting nonsense I've heard since Ronnie Corbett sat in that wonky chair so please keep it up! and I'd like to hear your opinions of KEF 104/2, I've had a pair since 88 and still love them, did anyone else do that coupled cavity bass design? they do go to very high SPL's with ease and the bass punch is off the scale. I re capped mine this year (Falcon accoustics supply a complete set) and they sound as good as new again. They are a flat 4 ohm load and pretty efficient (92 db from memory) but do need some decent current if driven hard, I've used a pair of Denon POA 4400's since I toasted a Technics 100 watt integrated at a party back in the day.
Mike had the fastest AP50 in the county, which I then bought from him. We'd hide the L-plates, go 2-up and easily get over 50mph on it. Then he got the fastest DT100 in the county, which handled brilliantly as it was on road tyres and not nobblies. I'd struggle to catch him on my Honda CB125 twin! Then he got a XL185 with a massive back tyre, which I loved and also bought from him. We used to go 2-up on that on the Ridgeway, and fall off it regularly. Happy days!
You gentlemen are brilliant👍 it’s so much fun to watch your videos 🙂 extra fun for me was the mention of the Volvo, my favorite car brand that happens to be from my homeland 🇸🇪 (although I drive a SAAB 95 these days✨)
Always nice to get a notification on YT from you guys! Regarding The Smiths, I have always liked them but the recording production of their albums has always been terrible.
As always love the riff and I wish I could have a pint down the hi-fi pub with you both, may I ask where is the riff featuring that little know hi-fi company Chord Electronics who apparently make DAC'S called DAVE that come with tiny noises little mains transformers 😂🤣😂😂
Slightly later but I’ll give a shout out to B&O C75, CX100. I have a pair of the latter, wall mounted with the Cona sub. They have limits but are good. Sealed with a ported sub. Proper sealed, not ABR -that’s ported really. Used in my home studio either side of a computer monitor, listened to in nearfield
I was at the HiFi show at the penta hotel by Heathrow airport the year that the j11 was released. Sansui had than placed on top of a pair of large floor standing speakers. Trying to fool the punters about how much bass there was.
Didn't you guys miss having an exposed tweeter to stroke? 😊 A bit unfortunate that they pose a difficult load.Solid little speakers though with reasonable WAF as they say in the industry. Thanks all.
Everybody knows that the Wharfedale Diamond is the best "mini monitor". Rather like Mike's green light Naim Nait, I have the MK1 Diamonds which are sonically superior to all other Diamonds, including, shock, horror, David's decidedly inferior MK2 Diamonds....
Dave, been years since I’ve had the album in my hands but what is the picture on the front of the Scritti Politi album. Fingers and a plastic bag? I think I struggled to identify it back in the day!
Yes, the clues are in the other sleeve photos. I would've mentioned it earlier but I felt so ill ( see previous comment) I promise to do better next time
I thought that when they were held horizontally. Cast my mind back to the B&W LM1 "leisure monitors", although the Sansuis are nothing like them in shape or proportions.

The Morecambe and Wise of the hifi world, never change the format please.
I must get more of the John Peel Sessions. The PJ Harvey one (on vinyl) is brilliant: raw, clear, dynamic, in-the-room.

Far too much info 🤢
Beautifully done, your vid and its contents as well as the work on the speaker performed by Kerr.

Cheers, and thank you for ABBA.
You guys should try Mon Acoustic SuperMon Mini speakers. A True marvel in small speaker class.

Who was the ct who remastered it?
@@jameshutton5979 if you are talking about the remastered albums, they were done by Frank Arkwright and Johnny Marr
The best sounding Smiths songs are The Peel Sessions, not the standard studio albums.
@@MrVinylista Good to know, I will look into getting this thanks

Evening Gentlemen👍👍. Remember the Technics SB-F1 and F2’s from that era in black or silver metal.

They look very much like my metal cabinet Alexander speakers from the 80s
Would you mind reviewing the new REGA Aya loudspeakers…? 😊

It's an inflatable globe... I pondered about the same thing for ages, and my colleague Sarah from Reading Hi Fi sussed it out. 👍

Would make good parcel shelf speakers in say, oh I don't know maybe ... a Volvo

My Volvo C70's rear parcel shelf speakers are considerably bigger than these!

That Volvo is a mobile multi-driver Dynaudio speaker system. If only it handled as well as it sounds. 🙂
I found a pair for sale on a French webpage and the owner wants someone to make him an offer. Not in good condition,
Great video. I do worry that at this rate, David may get caught for EBay insider trading. 😅
hello gents, pity those speakers are so rare
