Nice list!! Pretty spot on for any new LB7 owner like myself. Unfortunately, in Cali, we can only do so much to be in compliance with emissions. Keep up the great content.🤘🤙
@KooshdaakaaGarage yea forsure! Got a few goodies so far, Banks power cold air intake, PPE boost valve, Banks Power big head wastegate, Banks Ram diff cover, PPE economy tune, PPE trans cooler, and FASS lift pump. Next upgrade is a red head gear box lol
@mosesandres3385 that's what I'm talking about man. You have a lot of smiles per gallon right there! You'll have to let me know how the banks wastegate works for ya. I've been curious about that one for a while.
@KooshdaakaaGarage I felt a difference right away with the waste gate. I do want to see how it would be with a down pipe and some exhaust. My truck currently has 331k. I'm the 3rd owner. 1st one put 300k mostly towing his horse. 2nd owner only put 20k on it. I've put about 11k, so I will say I'm hesitant to do to much and make the ol girl not happy lol
Just got another 02 lb7 to replace the one i lost to a drunk driver a year and a half ago. It's bone stock aside from the 5" lift. She's got 210k on her, new injectors, new cp3, new ficm, new tcm, new water pump... Was in a front end collision, so there's a lot of body and frame work to do
@@KooshdaakaaGarage Smh.... The seller lied about a few things, so.... yeah. Not sure yet what I'm going to do. Might just take the drive line and put it in my grandfather's 99 suburban, not fond of the 6.5 Detroit
Hey I’ve got an 2001 lb7 dually myself but get 10mpg constantly no matter how I drive and towing 6k lbs !! No tunes No smoke Could you tell me what mpg you get out of your truck!! Thanks ~Miller
Hey there Miller, and thank you for the question. When I'm out overlanding, loaded down with gear, dogs and people, I get upwards to 16mph. When I'm just doing strictly town driving with my camper on I get about 13mpg. Both of which is a huge improvement over when I first got the truck and was barely getting 7mpg. Getting a tune made the biggest overall improvement in the mpg department for sure. After that it was an accumulation of upgrades and maintenance. Fresh oil in the crankcase, fresh fuel filters, fresh intake air filter, fresh gear oil in the diffs, fresh fluid in the transfer case, greased front wheel bearings, all made minor improvements to fuel economy. Another big improvement that I did (a timely one) was rebuild the turbo, port the exhaust side and compressor side, upgrade the compressor turbo wheel to a billet aluminum, then port match the up pipes, down pipe, exhaust manifold (BD full bore on driverside), mildly port/polish the cylinder heads, rebuilding cylinder heads. All that extra flow through the RPM range helped spool up the turbo faster and lower in the RPM range. The one thing I did to hurt the fuel economy was toss in 45% over sac nozzle injectors. Though I suspect with proper custom tuning the mpg will come back up.
Any experience with the p0089 code. Replaced cp3 and now hard start and have small fuel leak under new pump and getting surge at Idle with high fuel Rail way above desired with p0089 ??
Ooo ouch man. I've had some fuel leak issues after I did my injectors, and head gaskets. I had to go back through and re trace my steps and tighten all the loose lines. I also replaced all the soft lines because they were weeping fuel. My guess is something went squirelly with the cp3 install, maybe pinched a gasket? While you are in there I'd check the fuel pressure regulator wires, make sure they aren't broken. I imagine the new cp3 came with a new fpr? Surging can be a sign of a failing fpr, so definitely give that a once over. Hope it's an easy fix man!
@A2ZREY I'd look at the canned tuners you can get at local parts stores. One of the better ones is the PPE Xcelerator. You can get an economy version for around $350 I think. The standard like I have is around $450 and comes with a couple more tunes. It also has a bunch of diagnostic tools like injector balance read outs, maf sensor, fuel pressure, can read dtc codes. Great tool.
@A2ZREY yeah you can do that too. One thing you have to look out for is that the tuner can only be used on one truck at a time unless additional license is purchased. So if the person returns their tuned truck back to stock tune then the tuner should be ready to tune a different truck.

Thanks man! Yeah those cali rules limit ya a bit. I bet you can still make a pretty cool lb7 though 😎

Ah man that sucks about losing your other LB7. Congrats on picking up another one! Sounds like its already off to a good start and back good hands.
