Mughal architecture has had an enduring impact on the subcontinent. But it is a dead art, the last of it's practitioners had perished long ago. It took a Master architect to bring it back to life.
Kamil Khan Mumtaz since his younger years had dedicated himself to the modern architectural movements. But as years passed, his appreciation for Lahore's vernacular lead him on a unique journey into our proud history!
The Master is full of wisdom. Understand things very well.

House is beautiful but seeing it deserted and its asthetic alone made me feel weirdly depressing/existential

I am a student of Permaculture. Sustainable architecture, lifestyle and consumption choices are the bedrock of this philosophy.
For instance, if one builds a Zero Energy home but 50 Kms from his workplace, then it becomes meaningless. I am glad they are using solar energy but I certainly would have used industrial insulation material too.
In the end the buildings should be designed to last long without an annual maintenance bill.
I am also a little puzzled by the absence of greenery within the courtyard.

Always wanted to build a farmhouse like this, with an art school and school for hifz n primary for village children in the vicinity. I pray that I can turn my vision into reality. This is inspiring for me.

thank god any one recognized this point , architecture these days i call them waste of time and money ,they are copy pasting Singapore homes here for our desi climate
One can feel that the design is influenced by Justice Sb's childhood experience with Suman Burj, Wazirabad
Abhi kuch log baqi hain jehan mein. A painstaking effort to put all glorious past mughal architecture together. Kamil Khan is a driving force behind this project and his son Taimoor is doing great work to keep this inheritance alive.

Everything was going so smooth until he started rotating that camera.
I have to be honest whenever I experience a space deigned in traditional manner I encounter feeling which I can never be able to Explain in words.
I've watched both documentaries and they are amazing, the only problem is that there is not a lot off colour and greenery in this home, I totally understand that this project must cost a bomb, but seeds don't cost anything. With the love that this Artetiect put into his work, it seems to have been forgotten by the residence, what a shame.
It's built on the Mughal Architecture, It supposed to be as it is.
I totally agree with the concept of it all. Our old architecture was so apt for our local environment, but modern construction took over and destroyed the environment.
But, I would like to see how this kind of sustainable architecture/ structure can be brought to lower classes who are not pretty in their pockets!
It has alot of options to adopt for lower classes, like Madam Yameen Lari's initiatives.
