An underrated movie with an underrated composer with a amazing cliffhanger. What a shame that is.
A great post.....Thank you for letting me relive a little bit of my childhood.....
I remember the first time i saw this wonderful movie , it was the fantastic 80's era !
Favorite Sherlock Holmes film ever!!!!!
My most favourite film. Fell in love with classical music due to this film
Love Bruce Broughton, his music sounds like something you might hear Goldsmith or Bernstein compose, I had the pleasure of writing to him and expressing my love of his scores and he was very gracious.
Giving his career as television composer a big boost with his oscar nominated score for the fantastic "Silverado", Broughton went on to score a Spielberg production called "Young Sherlock Holmes", which easily marks also one of the composers highlights.
It may sounds John Williams'ish, but more like the modern Williams we know today.
Broughton, a real- and one of the last true film composers, underrated also, in my opnion. Make your own one and enjoy his colorful music!
I saw the movie after a long time today and the music is really fantastic. A very Williams but also very “Broughton”. He deserved to do way more big movies ❤️
Maybe not a great movie but a good movie fun and adventurous what we’re lacking in today’s movies
This is one of my favorite movie scores, especially because of the score in the ceremony scene.
So many memories unblocked!! ❤❤❤❤
I *love* the one- or two-second run in the upper strings at 9:38! I didn't notice it when I first saw the film in the 80s, but the string passage at 10:04-10:16 made a huge impression on me at the time and is even the reason I remembered the film after 35 years. I'm so glad I came back to listen today. This is just an incredible score overall--great musical ideas, outstanding orchestration. Some of the texture around 5:15-5:30 reminds me of Paul Hindemith, and I love it! Thank you so much, Bruce Broughton!
Fantastic underrated soundtrack main theme is wonderful love it!!
Ceremony scene with the persistent chanting of the priests
Einfach atemberaubend!
A sound track can make or break a motion picture.
Vladimir Cosma another underrated film composer.
シーンが思い浮かぶ名曲ばかりです
The Adventures of Tin Tin is almost like this movie. I was too young to watch that movie. :-/
Hallucination.
I enjoyed this film, but it had a couple of weak spots. The hallucination scene went full on silly with Watson, and Holmes' sudden understanding of everything was just too sudden and unsupported. In the Holmes books, Holmes can always explain the chain of observations that led to his conclusions. In this film, it's not really there.
That said, the music was TOP NOTCH. The chant of the Rama Tep in the pyramid was haunting and powerful.
another john williams?
That's what I thought too when I heard this first time
was childs...adore that film..wathced in video cassete….love the sountraks its sublime….Bruce is a great composer its MAESTRO….happy to live in a part of a that period….without vulgar, superficial,,stupid approach as now….in that film no violence, no explicit stupid sex scene, no vulgar wordssorry, excuseme.
I agree!!!! Yes, there was danger and fighting. But they were relevent to story. Innocent young love. Such a well made film!!! I watch it every time they put it on TV in UK 🥰🥰
