I think Edmund's (the Bridgerton's father) death was kinda lame on purpose. In the books we can see how much Anthony admired him. He thought that he was the greatest man in the world. So him dying from a bee sting was like a slap in the face. If the greatest man in the world died like that, what chance do I have? He actually thought that he would die young too. That's why he wants a "perfect wife". Because he wants his kids to be well taken care of after he dies. But he doesn't want love because he doesn't want to be the cause of the same suffering that his mom went through.
That being said, I think that if Anthony and Edwina got married, they would actually be fine together. They can rely on each other and make it work. But with Kate, he has all of that and love and attraction and actual happiness. So yeah, I think it would work out anyway, but Kate is the obvious right choice.
i kinda have a counter argument to why it wouldn't work with Edwina in the long run esp after she watches part 2 because even after his engagement he longs to be with Kate and thats what his whole marriage would be and when Edwina would learn he would never love her it would be sad for her and the marriage would become miserable. It would be the kind of marriage that you had for society and not for love which i guess is what Anthony wanted.

@@nusuchou Yeah, exactly. I'm not sure if I come across as a Edwina/Anthony stan, but I'm not. I just get why they had that scene showing them connecting, because Anthony's plan could have worked, but yeah, Kate and Anthony were meant to be. I love them
So nicely put and I agree! And to add on Anthony thinking he would die young too, we can see from his conversation with Violet that that's also the reason he's avoiding having feelings for his future wife - he saw how in love his parents were and then what happened to Violet after Edmund died, so he don't want to subject that same pain to someone he loves. So he rather have an agreeable marriage with little to no feelings involved so that he can fulfil his duties and cause the least amount of pain to the people he care about, than actually giving himself happiness by being with someone he truly loves. His character really is so interesting and I'm so glad S2 explored that properly after many were hating on him (deservedly lol) on S1.

I think it is kinda the worst part that the dad died just like that, it wasn't something big, they were literally on a normal day on their yard getting some flowers, a bee comes in and that's literally it, in seconds you just lose you dad forever without having any time to process what's even going on.

Kanthony's the best bridgerton pairing to me. Their chemistry is everything. The enemies to lovers trope will always be my n1. If u live for Kanthony, i think you'll love My Lady Jane on prime too. It's such a fun show. The leads' chemistry and the acting are just top!!
Rege did leave for the job stuff but its also pretty clear to many fans that the racism from certain sections for the fandom that the production/executives did nothing to dissuage (Ruby stokes has a similar case as well)

I watched this high and thought about how meta reaction videos are. Like the concept of it would be so hard to describe to people born before cameras and the internet. Like imagine a human being watching other people pretending to be characters in a story of love, from the comfort of their home, then recording it to share their thoughts with others, and accumulate wealth because of it. That's so cool. Also Ashley is my favourite type of person, a supportive, kind spirited girl's girl who is funny, smart and works for herself. You go glen coco!
