From the GeoCollaborate StormCenter Communications SISE Support Center this is the 100pm ET update on Hurricane Milton. This video is provided to support the movement of fleet utility vehicles and sharing of trusted information across public and private sectors to speed situational awareness, response and recovery.
KEY MESSAGES: HURRICANE MILTON
1. Damaging hurricane-force winds are expected across portions of
the northern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. A life-threatening
storm surge with damaging waves is also likely along portions of
the northern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula.
2. There is an increasing risk of life-threatening storm surge and
damaging winds for portions of the west coast of the Florida
Peninsula beginning Tuesday night or early Wednesday. Storm Surge
and Hurricane Watches are now in effect for portions of the west
coast of the Florida Peninsula and residents in that area should
follow any advice given by local officials and evacuate if told to
do so.
3. Areas of heavy rainfall will impact portions of Florida today
well ahead of Milton, with heavy rainfall more directly related to
the system expected later on Tuesday through Wednesday night. This
rainfall will bring the risk of considerable flash, urban, and
areal flooding, along with the potential for moderate to major
river flooding.

We moved from Harbor Heights PG almost one year ago. We had a feeling Ian was going to be followed with more devastation. The surge is likely to flood all coastsl towns. Go inland. Don’t mess around.
Last night I had a dream about Hurricane Milton. In my dream the hurricane started hooking North as it approached Florida's gulf coast. It then started hugging the gulf coast of Florida and headed straight North hitting the cities of North Florida very hard (Tallahassee and other cities).
I don't know if this will happen but when I woke up from this dream I felt very shaken. I told my mom about this dream and asked her to warn our relatives in North Florida to also prepare for this possible outcome. Right now no one is expecting this hurricane to hook North but if it does no one in North Florida is expecting this scenario and they haven't been preparing for this hurricane.
If you live in North Florida you need to be watching this hurricane closely and possibly leave Florida as well. If this hurricane does hook North and you live in North Florida you need to leave quickly. If you can't leave then find a concrete commercial building (or concrete hotel) to take shelter in. You need to go to the second or third floor of the building (not the top floor where the wind could peel away the roof of the building). Take your emergency supplies with you to this commercial building (water, food, flashlights, radio, etc). Take this monster very seriously!

what is the chances of the set of storms above hurricane Milton turning into a small hurricane itself. watching the video I saw an starting form I know it crazy but what if that could happen things have been going against the the science of weather, but I think could happen break off from the main storm that would not be at all then we would dealing with two major storms in the gulf please do not dismiss this, please keep an eye on this because I see it happening! One storm going north and milton going south. Orlando is currently under a Hurricane Watch. Winds could exceed 75mph as the storm moves across the state. There are likely to be significant impacts to the city.

Latest from the Hurricane Center is that it is now hitting 175mph sustained winds with pressure at 911mb. Rapid strengthening is expected to continue with nothing currently seen to hender it. NHC is saying they expect it to be a CAT 5 at landfall, not a CAT 3.

Yes the latest forecast is for Milton to be a CAT3 hurricane at landfall with winds of 125mph. While technically weaker, the wind field will expand and drive more storm surge toward the coastline. We expect very large storm surges south of where the storm makes landfall including Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Fort Myers and Naples.
