I own an Xperia SP and I am good with it. Xperia SP is considered on top of the mid range phones today. it can play hd games and can also be used with a PS3 dualshock controller. the LED illumination light below adds to the SP Sexy Phone factor. The main reason why I bought it. The drawback is the camera and the storage size. But I read from a local forum that rooting can expand the storage by allowing apps to be installed in the sd card. But if you got the money, Xperia Z is the one. It is simply way better that Xperia SP, no questions asked. The only thing I dont like about the Z are the USB cable and earphones flap covers on the sides. Once overly used they tend to flap out easily and sometimes they do not fit well when you place them back. But that is for the water resistance so you cant take it off. With that, you would need to buy alternatives like a charging dock and a bluetooth headset.
I have Xperia SP and I'm so happy and satisfied . The difference between SP and Z is the great notification bar in the SP , and the amazing camera in Z . If you have money go and buy the Z .
Game developers in particular sometimes design their apps to have in-game controls which allow you to exit the game and get back to the phone's standard menu screen with its onscreen controls. If no such implementation has been carried out, the on-screen controls hide themselves as unobtrusive grey dots which remain onscreen at all times. Hope this helps.
The Xperia SP will make a superior everyday phone. The battery life on the Sony Xperia T is notoriously poor, whilst the Sony Xperia SP's battery life is excellent. Also 4G connectivity will keep you future-proofed.
A matter of preference, based on which brand values you like more. Superior battery, design and screen would sway us towards the Sony Xperia SP, but the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini is lighter, better connected and accommodates more storage. Hope this helps.
I've had my Sony xperia sp for two days now and it has not let me down it a great phone for the price people under rate this phone but it can keep up with most new phones I would recommended getting one if u want to do multiple things on it

What I'dd like to know is whether the Xperia SP is waterproof too like the Z? For me this was one of the main reasons to buy the Z, and it really does work, but if the SP has it too it could sure be a worthy competator!
Of course it is. But you have to remember that the SP is a lot cheaper. The SP is a mid range phone while the Z is the flagship. So no comparison between them.

as a person that is very mcuh into computers and their components i hate it when people compare clock speeds across CPU architectures it simply doesn't work that way!
unlike you mentioned sp does have HDR functionality in its camera....plus you should have commented upon the stamina mode that both feature.....otherwise a good quick comparison!
here's some constructive criticsm , the video was great but the video was more of a comparison , and if it was a 'vs' , it wouldn't make sense to compare a phone designed to be high end with a phone that is supposed to be lesser and cheaper, however still helpful video
Z looks sexy and SP looks awesome. I'm okay with SP. I have digit Camera so idrc about the Mp of rear cam and I don't like taking selfies of myself so im good with vga front facong camera, what I don't like about the SP is the storage it's only 8gb is that enough for some gaming apps. Are you kidding me? SP has Dual Core 1.7Ghz Z has Quad Core 1.5Ghz. SP is infra-model. Z is such a better phone that it owns SP with all technology. Thumbs up if u choose Z

The Sony Xperia SP would have been the perfect mid range Android phone except that they put a VGA 0.3 front facing camera on it. This ruins which would otherwise have been an excellent mid range phone. Anyone who wants to use Skype or video calling on this would be compromised. Shame because apart from that I really like this phone.
I don't see that as a deal breaker unless you do video calls on your phone alot, which most people don't :\ For me it seems quite perfect, I'm looking forward to it :)
1. Whats the point of the transparent bar if you dont put an option to let it light up when screen is on like the S? 2. Whats the point of the light bar if the light is too dim to be noticeable like the P? 3. Why do they always say "jewel core" and "aloominium"? Its dual core and aluminum??!!! Xperia s got better design then sp. The 360 degree bar is also better than front and back.. The back of the s also looks better. The sp back looks like u and the word xperia comes off in time..
when will they release these phones on carriers in the us. hopefully they just come out with a brand new device entirely. id like to see a device made of better materials with the sp notification light also bringing the screen size down to 4.5 inches would be nice but id take the zls bezel less form factor.
The Sp is way better also with the pixels and everything. Even watching movies or youtube on the Sp it is more nice and clear. With Z very dark and not so nice colour. So you been warned!

Also if you on the phone and you hold the phone against your ears it realy dont feel good cause it is to flat the sound of the caller will come out on the back aswel and it will be very soft the sound dont feel right if your on the phone realy anoyng. I gone true this today> will return it tomorow and see if i stil can get the SP back better lesser batery and good kwality then this.
One thing to consider what if the phone will suddenly lag or hang problems what is the solution ? Do xperia sp have a reboot solutiion in that kind of problem :(

I need help deciding.. I own an Xperia Arc (the slower one) and I'm about to buy one of these two. The thing is, is that I want a powerfull (enough) smartphone that can handle future updates (the old Arc is really struggling with ICS...) would the SP qualify? And the Battery life shouldn't be much worse than my Arc, which gets an average of 24 hours. And I heard bad stories about the Z :(

SP is good for price, but if you don't really care what price, GET A FUCKING XPERIA Z2!!!!

Well Z is better overall, but Z doesnt feel good in my hand so i would choose the SP. SP also has the multicolor LED i really love about my Xperia U

I believe the Z is the only waterproof design. Even the Zl is not featured being water proof.
