Like he said if you had 1 million in the bank would you spend 100-200 grand on a car or get it on finance and keep the cash and invest it else where so you can make more money this guy isn’t no fool and knows exactly what he’s doing! He owns 10 high end cars! No one gives you finance on that amount if you ain’t got money to back it up!

Tom I tried to buy that model last year and got the funny look from the dealer and that was only to get on the list! Ended up buying the Omega 300 instead.
I went into Watches of Switzerland and Mappin and Webb last week looking for a submariner ( black on black ) and a Sea Dweller, I was surprised to find out I had to be put on a waiting list for both. I’ve only owned Breitling and Omega which you could walk in off the street and buy there and then.
Pro tip. If you live in a large city skip those authorized dealers. Find a small town and buy them all there. I live in a smaller city and got my Hulk James Cameron and Soon Batman because there are less people to compete with. As soon as they get a new piece I get a call. It never makes it to the stores. If I tried that in NYC it would never happen way too many looking for it there. And guess what I only purchased a date just to begin the relationship. Didn’t have to go nuts or be someone to get attention from the AD.
Watches of Switzerland are one of the few Rolex ADs who run a proper ordering system or wait list operation. You get to know them and then pay a deposit to be listed for the watch you want. When it comes in you will get contacted in correct order of the list. No queue jumping and no arsing around like a lot of dealers. Nice watch.

Stunning piece, mate. I had a chance to buy a Sub Hulk about a year ago. My local retailer had one on hand. Don't recall the reference number offhand, but it was just around $12000 CAD. Sadly, I was looking at the Bulovas which were in my budget

its impossible to get it here in singapore unless ur willing to pay almost double at the grey dealers. when this piece was released, i still remember it was possible to get it below rrp at the grey dealers. talk abt turning tables
You can get everything with contacts, I got my Batman within a month at 6.500€ at retail but I know people who bought it for 12k. But if I personally go to the dealer they won’t sell it to me. You have to find the right person or it’s imposible to get it at retail
I own it and all of the current production Submariners (except for the Smurf). I also have a Kermit in my collection. I think my yellow gold blue dial and my Kermit are my favorites...of my Subs, at least.

The fact that I need to buy watches that I don't like and have to spend 3 or 4 times the amount of the watch I actually want to get is ridiculous. It should be plain simple. Put your name on a list and when your turn arrives done. Why do I need to buy a couple Cartier watches or a some date justs when I don't like them and therefore wouldn't wear them. Even if I bought them and sold them straight away those watches don't sell for more money so I wouldn't make any money on them so I am essentially throwing money away. The whole concept is stupid, I walked into the Rolex shop in 2012 and bought a Daytona, stainless steel, no issues. Why is that not the case anymore?
I’m really happy for you Tom you got a Hulk at retail, a few years back no one wanted these. I didn’t realise you had a Kermit that’s my favourite Rolex I prefer the older case with the maxi dial I guess your Kermit has the engraved rehaut as it’s one of the last models.
Rolex models are coming into AD windows right now in the UK maybe due to Corona. Blue dial 40mm YachtMaster and blue dial Datejust 41 in steel plus the rest available right now in AD windows. Maybe we’ll see a lot more of this in the near future then it’ll be business as usual in the fullness of time. One or two models I’d jump on but the Hulk isn’t one of them. Just waay too much ugly green going on. If you’re in it to flip fair enough but not many people actually like these green watches. But if you love them personally go for it!

Without "special" relations or contacts i fear you are out of luck for ever getting one for retail price. I have been trying now for a while, but i am after the Hulk specifically, no way i am going to pay double marketprice for that one though. I would have been happy to get my hands at least on a normal sub or gmt but even for them, rare as fuck.

Always think it’s a shame Rolex seem to insist on having a date bubble. It’s simply not necessary and in my opinion spoils the look of the watch..... don’t get me wrong, I’d still give my right arm for one though!!

Yep, I much prefer the 5 digit black subs with the more attractive case. Green doesn't match the Sub, IMHO.
