Congrats! Another channel I watch, Duke of MTB, rides this bike as well. I highly recommend their channel, the wife is totally hilarious on there too. Looking forward to how your rides go with this one!
I have the 2021 Meta AM, but agree with everything you said. My bike climbs really well for it being the AM version and it rips the downs. Can't wait to get the Meta SX. I'm going to be ordering the frame only and swapping all the parts off my Meta AM. Commencal make kick-ass bikes.
Thank you for the great review. But you did not addrrss the Derailleur. Is it SRAM* or Shimano? Which do you prefer? I own and love my Commencal 2020 Meta TR 29". I was worried they has messed up with the geometry. I am considering buying another to share with Family overseas and ride when we visit them in 🇹🇭 Thailand (6 Grandchildren = 3 months/year). Thank 😊 you for clearly confirming my choice. And I will keep the new one with me in Oregon!!! * Many reviewers are leaving out discussion about their derailleur. Because of thumb inflation, I use wrist/twist shifter and the only 1x12 is SRAM. And I really prefer the twist shifters anyway.
Nice whip 👌 Travel is just a number... It's more how those mils gel with the geo and components. I'm finding the same on my Banshee Phantom V3 (140/115 travel). It feels just as confident as the 160/160 Polygon Siskiu N8... that the parts migrated over from.
I believe the reason why you don't miss more travel is because of the type of terrain you ride. Speed over roots and rocks and hard impacts are different in the bikepark . I don't mean flow lines. I'm excited to see what you think about it when you go with this bike to the park. And the question how much travel somebody needs. Did you ever think about buying a nomad again? The v5?
Hey Man, the v5 pedals much better and although I haven’t looked at the v4’s geo recently, I believe they’re nearly the same. I personally consider the meta v5 to be an improved version of the TR. making it a better climber and giving it longer travel. And with the Tempo, I don’t see a place for the TR in the line up any more (Tempo, Meta v5, SX)
awesome review, i like how you incorporate clips of your riding so when you say “better for your riding style” we see exactly what that is. Ive ordered a Meta SX and am wondering if i should have gone for the TR instead. while we have similar riding, i might be spending some more time in the bike parks and jumps etc and the presence of a little more travel seems to be nice to have if it doesn’t effect climbing too much. any thoughts? cheers
Not sure if you’ve seen it yet but there’s a new trail on the cross mountain it’s right behind you in your Intro the entrance is a super steep roller it’s my new favorite trail up there
Awesome review as always. I am currently building up a meta tr29 and would like to ask which spring were you using on the rockshox super deluxe? The stock 350lbs on the medium frame? If you don’t mind can I ask your riding weight and if you were bottoming out before on the coil shock? Thanks
Thanks man. It was a 350 spring rate and I’m 170 lbs. But, I swapped the coil for an X2 shock and don’t get to really ride the coil. I also ended up switching to the new 2022 Meta SX about 2 months after this video
You hinted at it...curious to know why you swap bikes every year. Keep subs/views up? Tax strategy? I'm riding Meta AM v3, old school. Jealous of your new TR!
Oh man, what a great question. I’m no expert on suspension linkages but the best way I can describe the difference between dw and single pivot tr, is the TR feels as plush as the Capra with nearly as much support as the dw Ripmo. Some have expressed concerns with rear triangle stiffness but I don’t feel the flex, if any exists.
Yo. I got a medium 2021 meta with carbon rims and carbon bars and I'm at 38lbs! I actually built the bike with a 35mm stem and just got a 50mm lol. Wish I would have seen this sooner we could have had a fair swap.
You needed a OneUp 180mm length seat post and an Ergon SM saddle to spend a happy year aboard that bike 🙂🇵🇹, go for a OneUp stem and ba too ( yes I'm a OneUp fan )
Congrats! Another channel I watch, Duke of MTB, rides this bike as well. I highly recommend their channel, the wife is totally hilarious on there too. Looking forward to how your rides go with this one!
Absolutely love that bike. Can’t wait to see more of it on your channel!
Thanks man! Looking forward to sharing more of it 🤙🤙
Always lookin forward to your bike reviews! Thanks for sharing👍🏽
Appreciate you, man. Thanks 🤙

Commencal continues to stay ahead of the curve. I’m sure my hesitation of the AM will disappear soon as I ride one!
@@MILTONATOR Sent you a message on Reddit.
Commencal!!!! Nice review brother. That rear shock is going on my wish list🤙🏾
Yeah bro. It’s the X2 Performance, my first experience with it and now that I’ve got it dialed… OMG! I’m sold.
@@MILTONATOR that’s awesome! So…Fox vs DVO video?
@@westsidemtb3210 I think I can do that. Might give it a go soon
@@MILTONATOR Rad!!!!
You have had some pretty awesome bikes and this one is a prime example!
Thanks! I’ve been fortunate, indeed. Commencal continues to step it up

did you mention th e ripmo?

Did you ever think about buying a nomad again? The v5?
Hopefully hitting a bike park in April as the season is over. Not sure that’ll I go back to a Nomad, but can’t say for certain.
How’s the TR compare to your new v5? I have the v4 TR and have been looking into the new v5! Cheers man!

Word! Sounds great. Kinda what I’ve been gathering from my research and the few reviews I’ve seen as well! Appreciate your time! 🤘🏼
i am thinking of getting the v5 but cuz i am 115kg will the fox dps rear shock be enough you believe? @@MILTONATOR

As you now know I went SC myself 👊
Great review Milton! 😀👍 But the bike would look better if you have the green suspension on it. Just sayin! 💚😅✌
Haha! I really want my Onyx back but I’m a like a fat guy on a diet… watching the weight very carefully
Not sure if you’ve seen it yet but there’s a new trail on the cross mountain it’s right behind you in your Intro the entrance is a super steep roller it’s my new favorite trail up there
Didn’t know. I’m still finding my way around white cross. Thanks, I’ll look for it next time
Did you consider the Ripmo AF? Seems like a good alternative to this
I did. The AF had been near top of my list since it came out.
How tall are you and what size meta tr did you go with?
5 foot 9 inches and the medium was spot on perfect for me

Wait, did you say 64.5 deg headtube angle isn't super slack? We're still talking about a trail bike here right? 😇
I know right!
You hinted at it...curious to know why you swap bikes every year. Keep subs/views up? Tax strategy? I'm riding Meta AM v3, old school. Jealous of your new TR!
I enjoy learning about new geometry, components, etc. And I’m able to do so without losing much or any money at all. That’s pretty much it
What are they main differences in your opinion between the single pivot tr linkage and the dw stuff?

Hi! What is your seatpost Clamp size ? 🙂
Sorry just now saw your comment. It’s a 34.9

Haha! OneUp or PNW for the dropper, WTB Volt for the saddle and possibly a i9 stem 🤷🏻♂️
I love this bike just wish they would put a threaded bottom bracket on it 😎
I don’t get it either. I’m sure there’s a reason 🤷🏻♂️
They call that bike a trail bike but a few years ago those were enduro specs. The shorter travel might work better for you on the trails you ride.
You’re right. Except for the travel, this geo is more aggressive than my 2020 Meta AM (enduro).
@@MILTONATOR what do you mean by aggressive?
@@Dempsey222 slacker, longer
@@MILTONATOR Commencal really got it right with that bike. The specs and geo are cutting edge.
Yo tengo una con holins suspensión.. y mullet es de la mejor la Tr 29 saludos viejon

Ah, found it.
Hmmmm. I see a new bike in your future. Lol. You still don’t seem happy with your new meta tr. 🤷♂️
Don’t you go putting ideas in my head, now 😂 I think I’m going to stay with it for a year
