This is riveting. As a guitar player for 50 years now and having met the band, Ann who sent me and my friend down to the pool to meet Nancy, with a huge smile on her face btw, I have to say this is a great story (I still love Nancy). Nancy was so cool, with her 2-piece (yes 2-piece) white bikini, super white skin and huge spirit and smile. She at 24 and me at 12 remember her as being like a awesome talent, sweet flower yet strong as an Oak. l hung out and swam with her for about at least an hour. It was August Memphis hot so you get the picture. If you don't then you need some lessons from the man. Eventually her lead guitar boyfriend tried to run me off but she snapped at him and stood her ground in my favor. He was kind of a jealous dick and me being only 12, it was undeniably ridiculous., This was in Memphis in the late summer 1978 at the Hyatt Regency. Before I left I told her the Stones, which was the whole reason me and my buddy were camping out over here were coming in town the next day and were coming from Texas and asked her if she had ever met them. She said no and seemed bummed out to hear that they were going to Texas as the Stones were coming from there the night before. I met and ate lunch with the Stones, and there 'fascinating' bodygaurds the next day. One of them was that black dude who knew karate w me and my brother used to read about in Hit Parader back in the 70s. I told him and Mick this that I knew who he was. So cool in those glass elevators riding down to meet the band. I was 12 and Mick, and Ronnie I found out, were no taller than me. Ronnie was so sweet, he seemed a nervous wreck which brought me to a calm. By then with Keith watching my every and smiling like hawk I felt completely at ease.This pissed the bodyguards off but fuck 'em. I love them all and especially miss Charlie who gave me the hardest time but I crack him and Bill up the hardest, at Ronnie's expense. It was to do with the fact I loved Ronnie's bass playin', I said, with the Jeff Beck Group. That triggered the riot and I told Ronnie, just look at those two, they definitely got it in for you. Mick got involved but with a huge laugh. He invited us down and me and Keith talked a bunch at first sitting down about gear and tubes and Ampegs and crap and when I tried to leave he told us to pull up a chair at the table next to them and have lunch with them. There was no one else in there. I will always love them! Especially Kieth!
